MAR-10-09 (Tue) MARIST COLLEGE (Poughkeepsie, NY) -- twitter rpts, live blogging, recaps, photos, vids, reviews, etc.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WILL BE POSTED IN THE FIRST PINNED REPLY TO THIS THREAD
Hey everyone! I thought I'd create a discussion thread for each stop of the Declaration Tour in an effort to keep the boards organized and help everyone more easily find info related to each event (and have a record of everything in one place for anyone wanting to look back on these events sometime in future). The following is how these threads will work (subject to change):
>> Thread pinned to the top of or on the main David Cook Discussion forum for 24-48 hrs
>> Thread moved and pinned to the top of or on the main Tour Talk forum for 24-48 hrs
>> Thread moved to its respective regional Tour Talk forum
If, for some reason, a thread isn't moved right away, it will be eventually.
What should be posted here? Related local radio/tv/press, on-site reports/photos, live blogging, recaps, media and fan reviews, links to related blogs, event photos/videos, etc., etc.
Please post links to photos instead of embedding them and please disable graphic footers as this will make the thread easier to read (especially when live blogging). Regarding PRE-SHOW set list spoilers, please either PM me the info so that I may post it as hidden text in the first pinned reply or, alternatively, if I am not hosting or not here for whatever reason, then please post the spoilers to a blog and link that blog back to this thread in your reply.
As always, I welcome comments/questions, as well as info, via PM. Thank you. ~Lisa
UPDATE: David Cook Answered Your Questions on Sean's Space
Posted by Sean T. McMann at 12:01 AM Source: SeanTM.blogspot.com
Just met "American Idol" David Cook! For the second time now, I've met an "American Idol" champion in a Poughkeepsie post-show downpour. Despite the constant precipitation and in spite of the fact that he's getting over a recent illness — "I think we and the tour bus have finally kicked the flu bug," he told me earlier in the day — David Cook was cool enough to spend a few minutes with his fans, including a pair of devotees who have crossed the country to take in all 18 of his "Declaration Tour" stops so far. (Next stop: SUNY Brockport!) Having talked on the phone Tuesday afternoon, it was nice to meet in person and shake hands with the reigning "Idol." I could tell you how good the show was, but that would kill the suspense when you read it here later. Let's just put it this way, America got it right last season! (No offense, David Archuleta. I've got "Crush" in my iPod. I think it's a fun, catchy tune.) Remember: Check back here at "Sean's Space" and see which of your questions David answered during our interview...
I talked to David Cook earlier today... ...and he was happy to talk about tonight's concert at the Bardavon 1869 Opera House, his current "Delcaration" tour, Walt Disney World, St. Patrick's Day and more. After going through my own questions for the reigning "American Idol," I told David I'd opened the interview process to his fans and asked them to submit questions for me to ask him. And here's where he blew me away: David already knew about it! "Yeah, I got the Google Alert about it earlier," he said. "I can't wait to see what they came up with." So from there, we talked about his fans, though David didn't ask a single question submitted by a fan ... he answered six of 'em, which should make his supporters happy when I post his answers later. Having already been inside the Bardavon earlier today, David said "it's a beautiful place," and he was looking forward to tonight's performance. Even after just a 10-minute conversation, I could really tell that David's college-educated, as his answers were thoughtful, insightful and very articulate. Check back (hopefully) tomorrow to read David's answers to "Sean's Space" readers' questions!
Mixed review: http://rhinosgoboom.wordpress.com/2009/03/11/david-cooks-up-some-ninetie...
My viewpoint was quite the reverse of Rheena's. I was at the Biloxi concert (2nd row from the back) and I found Ryan's set to be so loud I had to cover my ears to "hear" him properly, and needed a headache pill afterwards. Whereas I found David's set to be absolutely perfect. I have no idea what the deal is with the volume control, but it's odd that we heard it so differently. Maybe it just depends on where one is sitting? (And to clear it up, Biloxi showed only LOVE for David Cook!)
Here is a recap for everyone. My friend went and told me a little bit about it. I took notes so here it is.
David's band was too loud. Ryan's band wasn't, so it must have been the sound settings rather than the venue. It was tinny and hard to make out the words because it was so loud. Of course, she already knew all the words, but she was thinking of people who may not have known all the words.
Rheena - Thanks for reporting what your friend had to say about the sound. David needs to be aware of fans comments. I was at the Biloxi concert, and David's band was way too loud. Ryan's band played at a normal volume so you could actually hear his voice. My husband commented that the band was so loud that David's amazing vocals became a part of the noise. His performance was great, but I wanted to hear THE VOICE. David's vocals came through much better on the you tube videos of Biloxi because there is less bass.
THANK YOU FOR THE TWIK VIDEO, LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!!!!
~The World I Know is a better place because of David Cook~
Wed, 03/11/2009 - 17:12 — LaurieM
When I click on the video for TWIK, it says it is no longer available. Anyone else seeing that when they click on it?
When this happens to me (I use Microsoft Internet Explorer) I go to Tools, Delete Browsing History, and Delete Files. Clears out temporary files and usually uTubey then works.
DCmyHero,
This is great - I asked the DWoPers if this could be done a few weeks ago (camera in purse to capture audio) and no one was sure. It's my plan for the Ameristar if cameras are banned.
JackieDenver (DC: there's no remedy...)
DCmyHero, you are awesome thanks for getting TWIK. It was beautiful and it brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for coming up with the idea to tape the voice. It’s so worth just getting the sound because the quality of that video rocked.
thanks DCmyHero! TWIK, wow! David singing that song is epic. Lucky, lucky you.. and MITB to boot! I too am envious.
OMG. TWIK was beautiful. The Voice. Damn, just gorgeous.
DCmyHero you have completed my day. TWIK crushes me everytime I hear David sing it. If you only knew...well, you probably do!! Thank you so very much!
THANK YOU DCmyHero! (And you should be recommending that camera -- the audio is clear as clear.)
Someday I may be able to listen to TWIK without getting damp-eyed. Maybe. Or maybe not.
CDmyHERO, great audio! Two great songs back to back! How much memory did you have in your camera? I want to make sure I have enough for when I go!
Thank You DCmyHero!!! You are truly our hero today for getting that audio!!! You are awesome!
Rolling Out Across the Desert Word Hero #293
"If I could have a super power, I'd like the ability to...fly...so I can, you know?...soar...with...the birds."
Here is a recap for everyone. My friend went and told me a little bit about it. I took notes so here it is.
David's band was too loud. Ryan's band wasn't, so it must have been the sound settings rather than the venue. It was tinny and hard to make out the words because it was so loud. Of course, she already knew all the words, but she was thinking of people who may not have known all the words.
Not many people sang along with the audience part of Light On. She thinks maybe a lot of people didn't know the words, but she was singing along at the top of her lungs.
There was a cute little back-and-forth between David and the audience or some audience member: "I love you." "I love you too." "I love you more." Etc, etc.
His hair looked pre-Idol.
Andy got his hair cut, Neal got his hair cut (a few days ago), David supposedly got his hair cut supposedly for the video.
He didn't make love to the microphone the way he usually does.
He was wearing a plaid shirt and blue jeans.
She was the one who threw roses on the stage while he was introducing Neal, before HFT. David read her card, picked out one rose and put it between his teeth, and then held it for the next song.
At the end everyone had to leave except for the people who had VIP passes. David had a meet and greet inside after the show. About 20 - 25 people stayed. She tried to schmooze her way into being allowed to stay but the tour manager was unyielding. She left after that since the friend she went with had to work the next day, so she doesn't know if he came outside after that.
She sent me a few very blurry pictures but I don't know how to post pictures.
