On first listening to the first-ever preview of Declaration during SNL, I immediately thought of Analog Heart's Searchlights. Being the music geek that I am, I thought that both songs resemble one another in many ways:
The key signature that was used in these two songs are the same.
The glory/high notes in the songs' choruses are almost the same.
The melody of Declaration's chorus' first line, "It's my declaration" is strikingly similar to the first line of Searchlight's chorus, "You make me fall forever"

Kudos to you and the band, I LOVE Declaration!!! I got goosebumps on first listening to it!!
Though I noticed that you've lowered the key signature for Light On. Probably to sing the higher notes with more ease, but that's okay sir, you still rocked it out!!! Can't wait until your album hits the Philippines!!! - SEPTEMBER 24, 2008, 1:26 pm
To be completely honest, I was very impressed with the lyrics of Light On, even if David didn't write it. But when I first heard it, I was rather underwhelmed with the melody. What I was expecting was a World I Know-like kind of melodic range and timbre. Being a melody-type of guy, the song's melody has to grip me, otherwise the song wouldn't do well for me, even if the lyrics were well-written. And the melody of Light On didn't really gripped me. I find its melodic range a bit generic and limited, and like what Imogen said, these type of songs are really not my cup of tea.

kakaibang interpretation river!! It's a good thing that the song seems relatable to you in your life story.

If TOML was about his rise to fame, then I guess Light On is about telling his loved ones to keep the light of faith alive while he's journeying through the perils of fame. Very nice views, and I also like the chorus.
