4. Come Back to Me
The really interesting thing about songs #3 and #4 on the record is that although they were written by completely different people, in very different musical styles, thematically, they are very complementary. “Light On” is a song about leaving someone you love, and “Come Back to Me” is about letting someone you love leave.

3. Light On
I didn’t like “Light On” very much the first time I heard it, and I was actually quite disappointed until I heard the acoustic bit at 2:50, and then I was happy again (I’m easy, what can I say?). It’s still not one of my favourite songs on the album, though I have since warmed up to it.

First and foremost, I want to express how much I love that so many songs on this record showcase David’s lower register. I’ve always felt that during Idol and Analog Heart, David tended to stick to the middle and upper portions of his range – which are gorgeous in their own right, but I’m glad that he now feels comfortable letting those low notes out to play.

Neal Tiemann and Andy Skib are sitting in front of a television holding hand-lettered Go Cookie! signs. They may be drunk.
Oh, you so know they did, at least once. And then swore each other to eternal secrecy, because if David ever found out, they'd never be able to make fun of him about the matador outfit ever again.

WOW
I was very annoyed when Cornell said that David did a note-for-note copy of his version. Perhaps the basic melody was the same, but David's version had far more suspense, anger, and just felt different to me than any other cover of BJ to date. And I completely agree that Cornell was singing BJ as a blues song, like an old man sitting in a smoky bar telling stories of his misspent youth. David sang it like he was standing in the witness box facing a judge. Or while hiding from TMZ.
