Since you are probably a fan, you know what I mean when I say that David Cook is very special. Today at the Race for Hope, the MC introduced David by saying words to the affect that we all know that David has an amazing singing voice and talent but that he has come to know that David has an even bigger heart and soul. This is not really news to DC fans.
From the time we learned that David wore the orange bracelet in support of a little girl with cancer, we had a hint at his heart. When we saw him tear up at the end of ABMB, we say a glimpse of his soul. We knew there was something special between his two brothers and him. He honoured them with the AC on his guitar, on his wrist and we would learn later, tattooed on his arm. The message of how special David Cook was. became crystal clear when he sang the moving ballad "The World I Know" and allowed himself to feel the moment. Not many men cry; fewer men cry in public; far, far fewer cry for humanity.
David is also humble. This is astounding in the face of all his gifts. David is also grateful for what he has received. This is refreshing. It has also earned him the loyalty of many friends. It is notable that no one has had a bad thing to say about him who has actually known him.
David is self-aware. He seems to know who he is and where he's going with a wisdom that belies his age. Perhaps his soul has been aged by his experiences.
David is funny. His sense of humour is going to help him through life.
Not finally, but I'll conclude here: David is courageous. Just think of the Race for Hope. I need not say more.
