I was really hoping that David's first "real" single would be a song he wrote, or co-wrote, mostly because I just love everything he has written so far. But also, it would stop the, "He only sings other people's music" talk in its tracks. If it is true this is a Cornell-written song, the only reason I could see making that his first single is they think it gives "instant" credibility to the song itself. I know it will be beautiful, and I will love anything David sings, but I really was wishing this song would be "all David," or a least part-David. Unless they collaborated on a re-write of it? That would be good. Hope for the best, right?

Whoa! Good find! I highly doubt this is a coincidence. But if that's the case...then that means David didn't write the song.

i am so stoked to be getting a post-idol related song, especially out on radio. i have to admit, i am nervous about david dropping it the same week and britney spears...i wonder who missed that...

I'm really excited about the single, now that we have official word from David! Woo-hoo! And so glad to see my D-C.Org peeps on this thread! I miss you guys on these forums
I do hope Cookie gets play on rock stations since I would far rather listen to that than Top 40. Of course, he can be all over the place on Top 40, but if he gets on rock/HAC then I can actually listen to stations I like and have a decent chance of hearing him. That's always a plus.
My local rock station plays lots of '90s stuff - Oasis, Collective Soul, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Green Day, Live, etc. I think they'll be pretty open to Cook if he puts out stuff in that vein. It isn't all about death metal. We know he's not about that anyway.

I also think that it might be on the radio first just like what happened to Archie's single, then maybe itunes will put his single the week after. I'm so excited to hear it! =D

Scott and others re: format - I agree that if any Idol has a shot to break into rock radio earlier rather than later, it's DC. They're a pretty tough nut to crack though and I could see them being kind of snooty about the Idol connection. But that could be exactly why we don't see "2008 American Idol" splashed all over this site.
Top 40 is the golden standard but you guys are right, there sure is a whole lot of crap that makes it onto that chart :/
I had to LOL at the email we just got confirming the single. it's like they realized David let the secret slip, and then had to do some damage control by sending the email out like "oh we meant to do that". Then again, maybe they did...!

hey everyone! i´m a long time lurker, trying to get more into the posting thing.
anyway, i am SO excited for david's single!! light on does sound like a cool name. and as far as whether or not it will be for purchase or just on the radio next week, i don't really care personally. i mean as long as we can hear it. my guess is that it will be radio though because the email said we'd be able to HEAR it soon. not but it or anything. anyway, so PUMPED!!
Yes, dropping a cookie crumb out here rewards people for actively dropping in rather than passively receiving an email. and yeah I am sure he loves to see the waves he makes on the boards. The wave he is going to make on iTunes is going to be a tsunami!

Got the email! It's official! YEAH!
The email only says we will listen to it soon. He promissed us the title, not the date, lol.
But if he told the fans that it would be next week we probably can believe that.
MJ from Mj's blog says her source told her that the song is not beeing released next week, so it's probably radio streaming preview.
