I'm a fan (and you should be too) because...

While I definitely think it was The Voice over everything else that won me over and won the prize for him, I also think there was a very unusual and special alchemy going on that needed a lot of ingredients for him to win in spite of the odds against him. I would name those ingredients, not necessarily in order of imperative, as: voice, instruments (all the beautiful ones), personality, intelligence, stubborn & unbreakable integrity, humor, song selection, song writing ability, previous recordings that expanded our appreciation of him, ability to re-conceive songs and really truly "make them his own" in a way that set that cliche on its head, personal family story, sex appeal, physical transformation, ability to learn at lightning speed how best to play the Idol game, acting ability, previous performing experience, his mom's smile, Adam's courage, Andrew's charm, David's own courage and charm and smile, being a gossip magnet, leadership, comforter and jester roles among the other Idols, bromance/Mavid, being "single," relationship with/to Archie, combo of humility with confidence, extraordinary work ethic, loyalty to past friends, gratitude to fans, dancing ability (yes, you can, David!), lipsarmseyessize13s, slutty pants, tattoos, literacy. . .what have I forgotten?

Alchemy, I tell ya. How can you resist the magic?
