  • was working at Wal-Mart and I was on the very last register for most of the day. I notice this groupe of three girls, about 11 or 12 and they're talking very loudly and very excitedly. I don't think too much of them until they come back to my area after about 20 minutes, looking very upset. They talk to the cashier in front of me for a minute, then they come to my register. One of the looks at me, studies me, and then says this:

Girl: We want to buy something.
Me: Ok. I can help with that.
Girl: We need to know something first.
    Me: Ok... what's the problem?

  • First week sales numbers were released this morning, and, again, David's own fanbase has had different reactions to them. Some people are (prematurely, in my opinion) deeming David Cook to be "AI's latest flop" from a single that's been out for a week. And, wow, the Word Nerds are up in arms about it, but let's get a little perspective here. While it's amusing to keep track of them, numbers should not be the sole defining aspect of one's success. To elaborate, I'd like to introduce to you a band I like to call "The Little Band that Still Is".

  • *Sigh* It's just so beautiful. I love it.

Truly, the best way I can describe how beautiful (physcially, spiritually, emotionally, and all the -ally's in between) comes from David himself... "I'm amazed at who you are" - Peace of Mind (Song for Sarah).

  • "What on earth is wrong with a song being liked by many people? I never really understood that way of thinking. I mean, weren't the Beatles, the Stones, The Who, Elvis Presley, Springsteen, Pearl Jam, U2, Green Day and REM all great--and weren't they also all commercial and popular as hell?"

Bravo Suz! These artists are constantly hailed as some of the greatest contirubuters to the commercial and musical community and if you say anything negative about them, it's you who is suddenly ignorant of musical integrity.

  • The first time I heard the song, I wanted to cry (but I don't cry in public aside from the one time I had a breakdown at Best Buy when they told me my entire hard drive had crashed). It's really a touching song, give half a chance. I think so many people had ridiculous expectations for a first single and were let down simply because of their expectations, not because of the song itself.

  • It's really all your fault the server crashed. If you weren't so prodigious, none of us would be here. So there you go...

No seriously. I love your music. And I'm barely able to contain my excitement over your well-deserved success... but alas, I'm confined to a public computer so unless I want to be banned (again) from this computer lab, I must stay somewhat quiet... I'll settle for typing extra loudly.
