ISN'T it different on real speakers!

One of the challenges of the music industry is that so many of us have switched to hearing music either on ghastly computer speakers or as voices in our heads...

I find it easier to listen to as "voice out there on speakers" rather than as "voice in my head." It's partly being able to turn up the volume to something enjoyable without courting early deafness, and partly that the added emotional distance puts a different emphasis on what he's saying. There are some people who are awfully intense to routinely invite into one's head.

Since we're doing radio/sales comparisons, let's compare the little boat anchor LO to current standings with rock songs. You can analyze the numbers, but DC with the boat anchor has a cross format hit that is currently charting and selling better than many similar artists and established acts that are not Nickelback.

I'm a fan (and you should be too) because...David Cook has the most amazing voice and his songs are the greatest! I knew he was going to win American Idol from the moment I heard his voice at the auditions! Funny how he was at the right place at the right time!!! So happy for him! amherrington, I love "More than a Feeling"! I'm not a huge Boston fan (almost all their songs sound alike), but David singing that would be amazing!

really any song in the world would work 4 me. if i hate it now, i'd love it when he did it. However in some interview either he or his brother said that Adam wanted him to cover de pesh mode but that AI couln't get the rights. i'd say for him something by them.

I Squued Out Loud the fist time I heard LO and my hubby was extremely into it at first listen too! I get excited every time I hear it and I also have streamed and listened to this so much you would think it s/b making me puke by now but no--I still squee.

Interesting that the final HDD estimate is very much in line with the scaling up from 69% projected last night. Obviously, I'd prefer it if the drop were lower, but it doesn't seem out of line for this time of the year.

Nice on the adds. Intriguing to have gotten on alternative add---and it isn't even the alternative station in Missouri that's been spinning Magic Rainbow and LO.

Ouch, January just hurts all around, doesn't it?
I am pleased to see that DC remains in the top 20 and is outselling all the rock acts other than NB, of course.
It could be worse. Poor Archie dropped 76% and is perilously close to dropping out of the top 50 (and it's only week 8 for him). So, if Crush is considered a "big hit" in Idol circles, and this is how that album sells, I am glad that LO's hit status is "moderate", because, well, bigger numbers are better numbers.

Edited because "sells" and "sales" are not the same word.

HT I love this! To me DCTR is like a life journey. I think everyone who listens to it can see things in their own life's experiences and can relate to each and every song in their own unique level. No matter what your age, these songs speak to all.

About the thread of Liveblogging AI8: my personal preference is that we use Twopers in the title of the thread. We all know that with the chaos reigning in the forums, there will be one hundred ones about the same in many places; and considering the snark, puntuaction, dark humor, and grammar rules that we prefer, it would be more comfortable if we keep it clean. JMO and all .

There is some truth to what you have said, eilonwy. It still is fun to imagine what David and band would do with many of our favorites.

For me, many of the songs named here have special meaning. They are like the billboards in my life. I can remember the precise moment in which I heard many of them for the first time. Admiring DC's musical talents, I can't help but wonder if he could make those memories even more poignant.

This happened for me when he performed Fleetwood Mac's 'Tell Me Lies". I am so dating myself with that comment!
