If we can get LA, we'll get a bump on the charts. The success of the LO music video has motivated me. And this is something you can do from all over the country.

Rock station KYSR (98.7 FM) suffers from AI/Rock Snobitis. There is something we fans actually can do besides requesting LO. Since they're Clear Channel they have the LO music video. Some of us have been streaming it all weekend. We can play the LO music video en mass via KYSR's on demand, accessing it through the back door and literally force LO into the station's Top 20 list. If we get it into the "top 10 most popular" it will appear right there, on their home page, and there's nothing they can do about it! Here's a direct link

http://www.987fm.com/cc-common/ondemand/player.html?program=vod&track_id...

Make sure you refresh for repeated listenings... be sure to get the quick advert at the top. That's how hits are measured & tracked. Getting it on their homepage could be the best way to get it on their playlist. KYSR could add tons of rock cred for David.

KYSR has the best playlist in town and David fits right in there next to the Foos, Death Cab, Pearl Jam, Linkin Park, Smashing Pumpkins, Oasis and The Killers. Out of towners, try listening online. They've cut commercials way back and they're an excellent station.

Someday in this millenia KBIG will add LO to their playlist. They really will, they love the rocking Idols (David, Daughtry & Kelly), and also play a bit of Jordin. And they LOVE TOML. They're HAC and we'll be fine with them. No need to target them yet.

ETA: the station also has the song (audio) LO on demand but I don't know if repeated plays will prompt them to add it. Some of us have been listening to it on demand through their site for weeks.

Report back in this thread and tell us if you've listened to the LO music video on demand through KYSR, and how many times. Let's get this puppy on KYSR's home page!

(Forget about CBS owned KROQ for now. They're too hard core and even less likely to add David than KYSR).

Bumping - because the greater LA area is a huge market and it's important to gain Rock station airplay here.

Hi Scott, I had to comment because a similar thing is happening in Dallas/Fort Worth.

I have been streaming like crazy at KHKS (top 40) and KDMX (HAC) and suddenly yesterday LO showed up as the #1 video on KDMX but not even in the top 20 on KHKS. They are both Clear Channel stations and I am wondering if they are all connected, thus explaining the similar results in LA. (Also the similar mess up with the video link I reported a few days ago.) In other words, is LO the #1 requested video for that Clear Channel format nationwide?? How cool would that be!

I am really hoping to get LO played on KHKS because that station has a larger and younger audience and DFW is the #5 market in the US. LO is currently being played some on KVIL (AC) in Dallas. But since that station is the area's "Lite Rock" station it kind of gives me the heebie jeebies (no offense). But heck, I'll take it.

I'm still streaming! LA and Orange County residents can use the Mediabase on-line request form: http://www.mediabase.com/mmrweb/7/stationplaylistrequest.asp?c_let=KYSR-FM
If you scroll to the bottom there is a space to write in songs not on the playlist. You have to enter your email, city of residence and zip code. I do think they pay attention to these as I usually request one or two other songs along with Light On and I have noticed the other songs being played not too long after. Just don't inundate the station with repeated requests from the same email address.

KYSR REQUEST LINE 1-800-782-7987. Again please don't inundate the station with repeated requests from the same number. Also, with caller ID they know if you are calling from outside of their listening area so residents only please.

Scott - They really do have a great playlist overall. Although of course LO would make it even better. To listen to KYSR on-line: http://www.987fm.com/cc-common/ondemand/player.html?world=st

The oddest thing has happened. Wonderful, but odd. LO is now the #1 video on KBIG!!! After all this, it's still not listed in KYSR's top 20 but on a whim I checked KBIG's home page and there it was, #1 freakin' 1.

I wonder if our little barrage is counting towards KBIG instead of KYSR. Did Clear Channel pull one over on us before we could pull one over on them?

On the other hand, LO has been featured all week on all Clear Channel HAC station's home page as a featured video... and it's been rotating with 3 other videos on their home page... so that is probably what's doing it. Now if KBIG would only add the damned song!

The world of radio can make my head 'plode!

I say keep on doing what we're doing with KYSR. It can't hurt. If you also want to stream on kbig, just replace the call letters in the web address with kbig104 (instead of star987), or click it off their home page in the featured videos box.

I've got it going on now, Scott.

Bump.

I'm streaming, but have to go to bed soon. I will try to stream a few times tomorrow, also.

Scott, I'm so up for this. I've been playing & refreshing over & over. I also live in the L.A. area & have requested LO on KROQ to no avail. Yet they play Coldplay to death -- go figure. I've also been requesting LO on my local indie Alt rock station out of San Bernardino KCXX. You are so right --- he needs to break thru to the rock stations! Thanks for this link.

I had asked about this in another thread but I guess you answered my question. So it is the amount of streams that determines who is in the top 20. If anyone wants they can also stream here: http://www.z100.com/cc-common/ondemand/player.html?program=vod&track_id=... Hopefully it will help get LO played on Z100 also.

G-Marie, I'm using Safari, (3.1.2) and I'm having no problem with the video playing. For whatever that's worth.

Will do Scott. Has anyone had a problem streaming with Safari? I use Safari to read DCO because the names of posters aren't covered up but have to stream using IE because the video doesn't play for me with Safari.

This is certainly no hardship, I've played it at least 12 times so far, with a refresh between each play...and still continuing... thanks for the idea and the heads-up!

Count me in!

Also hoping that Sac and SD stations adding LO today will shame LA into following suit. Chop chop LA stations, you are falling behind!

Let's keep this going! You don't have to be in LA to do this.

BUMP

Scott, count me in.
Question to you or anyone who knows answer:

Will a partial stream count? That is, stopping the stream midstream so I can refresh and come in again and again without completing song? (Intent is to have as many number of stream hits as possible ,,,)

1+1=2 keep it simple

I have listened to the audio LO 4 or 5 times at KYSR over the last few weeks, basically anytime you mentioned that station in your posts Scott. Now I am streaming the video from their website about 4 times a day. I'll add that to my list of DDA (daily David activities). Right now that list includes vh1 voting, us magazine poll voting, streaming video on my local stations, streaming video through aol/popeater, making requests to my local stations through mediabase and by phone on a rotating/random basis, and of course reading the TWoP thread, listening to any radio interviews, reading interviews and articles, and watching any new video materials. Geez, this is a full time job!

Going on #6.

Count me in...just listened in and will refresh and do it again. Good luck!

That link works great. I'm starting to megastream.

I think I am on #10!!!

I just watched and will go back for another.... Eye-wink

Declaration Siggy

I've streamed it 4 times so far....

Pretty funny, look at the last 3 songs played on their home page (or in their last 10 section), and the third one down is TWIK... but it's the orignal version by Collective Soul... a track I used to love but now kind of can't listen to when I know David's superior version is lurking out there, just waiting to make me choke up!

OK, I'm watching it...

If you get to the page that says error, just click and it will take you to the home page. Click videos and go to the video vault and click the letter D. Scroll through until you find David Cook and you'll see Light On. I'm on my 7th stream.

Link is working now, Scott. Thanks. I just keep hitting it again so it's playing in a loop on my desktop. Six times so far.

BUMP

I just streamed it 5 times. When it plays through, I click out of the screen and open it again for another play!

I'm a team David Cook player! Smiling

That link should be working now. But if you know how, or know your way around Clear Channel's music video on demand section, it's not that hard to find. They have a "video vault" and an alphabetized listing.

Hey Scott,

Excellent strategizing (as always!). The link didn't work for me either – but if you go to the KYSR home page and search artists, then follow the links, you'll get to the place where you can select the video. I'll be doing this often. Thanks!!
