The Salvation Army, Downtown Council of Kansas City, The Cordish Companies and Burns & McDonnell are launching a brand-new family-friendly holiday tradition in Kansas City called “Rock the Red Kettle,” a free community concert. This year, the event will feature rock band, The Fray and Kansas City’s own David Cook!
The free concert will be held Friday, Dec. 2, 2016 on the KC Live! stage in the Power & Light District. Admission is free to the public and attendees can RSVP at rockredkettlekc.com. Donations are welcomed at the event. Funds raised at Rock the Red Kettle will support many of The Salvation Army programs and services throughout the year, including food assistance, emergency rent and utility assistance, necessities at the Children’s Shelter for abused and neglected children, alcohol and drug abuse treatment programs, senior citizens’ programs, homeless shelters and transitional housing for veterans.
Attendees are encouraged to arrive early. The program gets underway at 6:30 p.m. and the event is expected to end at 9 p.m.
