25 Random Things...yeah, I copied this from Facebook.
So, yeah...anyone who is on facebook has seen this 25 Things note that has been going around where you get to tag your friends and pressure them into spending way too much time coming up with random things about themselves. I swore I wasn't gonna do it, but I totally caved and did it anyway, but only because I was procrastinating doing laundry. Anyway, I thought it would be interesting to bring this over here, as it may motivate me to actually start using DCO as my main blog. I used to blog all the time, but got lazy (or honestly, way too busy) but I have been missing it, so....here goes.
25 Random Things about Me...
1. I have a twin sister. We are believed to be identical mirror-image twins, the 2nd rarest form next to Siamese (conjoined) twins. Essentially, this means that we are, well…mirror images of each other. For example, I am right handed and she is left handed. When we were younger we had braces for the exact same dental issues, but they were on opposite sides of our mouth. Get the picture? We look a lot alike (same hair, eye color, skin tone) but she is at least 2 inches taller. She is older by 5 minutes, but that is only because they didn’t know I was in there. Yeah, my mom was told she was having a very big boy. SURPRISE!
2. I was a champion Girl Scout cookie seller when I was young. My parents love to tell this story that still makes me laugh to this day. I was a brownie, so I was really young, and we were walking the neighborhood doing the door to door cookie sales. I see this woman through her big picture window working out on her treadmill. When she comes to the door I go right into my sales pitch. “I noticed you were exercising. Did you know that the Trefoil is low fat and great for women who are dieting?” Yeah, I was such a sneaky little sales-scout.
3. My happy childhood memories far outweigh any negative ones. I know that I am lucky in that respect. My parents and my sisters are the most important people in my life and bear a lot of responsibility in the creation of the woman that I am today.
4. I own a ridiculous number of DVDs. Some of them I don’t even remember buying and there are at least 5 that I have never watched. Columbia House DVD Club is completely responsible for this. I am not to blame.
5. I am a freelance graphic artist, but I have never taken a graphics class in my life. I am completely self-taught, with full knowledge that I should take a class or two so I can see all the tricks I am unaware of. It is on my list of things to do this year.
6. I have worn the same scent for almost 10 years now. Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin from Bath and Body Works. (when they don’t have it in stock I get really ticked off) I can’t wear perfume (see #7), and this scent just makes me happy. I love anything pumpkin scented. And yes, I realize it is a fall scent, but I wear it all year.
7. I have an incredibly strong sense of smell. I get an almost immediate headache walking through the perfume department of a store or if I walk by someone with a strong cologne on. It drives me crazy. A few people tagged in this note have been with me when I have commented, louder than intended, in public when someone walks by with too much perfume on.
8. I am a smart ass. Not really any other way to say it than that. I am sarcastic and snarky, usually the one to say what everyone else is thinking but isn’t expressing out loud. As Shane has pegged it, I am “a judger”. Often, this is cause for much laughter, but other times I do wish I could find my filter. That being said, I am not mean and would never say anything hurtful about someone(unless they really deserve it, lol).
9. I was always a shy kid, but every once in a while I would do something that took a lot of guts. For example, I had a huge crush on this boy in the 7th grade named Ryan. Valentine’s Day was coming up and I got him a valentine’s card, which I was had signed “Love, Your Secret Admirer”. For some reason, right before I slipped it onto his desk I decided to cross out the Secret Admirer and actually wrote my name on the card. To this day I have no idea where I got the courage to do that. He asked me to dance that night at the Valentine’s Day Dance. I was so embarrassed, haha!
10. I have never broken a bone. I have cracked my ribs, but no breaks. *knocking on wood*
11. Being told that “You are intimidating” is the most annoying thing a guy can ever say to you as a reason why he never asked you out. Especially after the same guy admits to having liked you for years. WTF?
12. I majored in Theatre Arts in college but I am lucky to see one play a year. It is interesting how your passions can change.
13. I just saw a commercial on tv for Barbasol and it totally made me crack up. DYDC!
14. I love music. I always have, but I can pinpoint the exact date where music became a HUGE part of my life. 10/24/03 My life as a casual music fan came to an end when I saw Marc Broussard perform as the opening act for Gavin DeGraw and Maroon 5 at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC. I was blown away by him, remembering how he completely owned the stage and the headliners were doomed to go after him that night. I went home and immediately looked him up and that was the beginning of a new chapter of my life. Within the next 2 years I had met some of the best friends of my life and had found my calling as a web marketer, graphic artists for my musician friends. (Shane Hines, Sons of William, Nick Gibson) yep, totally pimping them.
15. I probably do as much work every week for my musician friends and charity work as I do for my actual job that pays my bills. But honestly, I wouldn’t change a second of that. Here’s how I see it, if I can spend an hour making a flyer or a web banner to help promote a friend’s music or upcoming gig, why not? It allows me a much needed creative outlet and helps provide a needed service to someone I care about and want to see succeed. Sounds like a win-win situation to me.
16. K, last music related topic…I think. I hate the word “groupie.” Groupie used to be a term referring to “someone who follows a certain band or musician”. Now, there are so many negative (er…sexual) connotations to that word. I love going to concerts, and yeah, I will go see multiple concerts by the same musician. Why? Because I like their music and usually I am also going because of the community of people I have met being a fan of said musician. It is a great excuse to travel the country and meet new people and visit my friends who are all over the US. I am NOT going to shows in the hopes of hooking up with someone in the band. That is ridiculous. I am just not that person.
17. I curse like a sailor. I really need to stop that, dammit.
18. I am doing this list to avoid having to go start my laundry. Yeah, I really hate doing laundry.
19. I have an irrational love for the color orange. If I am walking through a store and see an orange purse or orange shoes, I have to go look at them. Not neon orange, but pumpkin, deep oranges. It is probably because of my red hair. Autumn colors look good on me, so I wear a lot of orange and green.
20. I work for the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions but haven’t been to Disney World in almost 15 years. I won tickets at our holiday party this year though, so I guess I’ll get there sometime this year.
21. I have a fleur de lis tattoo on my right shoulder (see my profile pic). Surrounding the fleur de lis are 5 stars. The stars represent my parents, sisters, and brother in law. I will have to get another star early next year after my older sister gets married for my new brother in law, Dillon. The fleur de lis represents a lot of things, but in a nutshell, the changes in my life since 10/24/03 and my love for Louisiana.
22. 2008 will go down as one of the scariest, most uplifting, craziest years of my life. In 2008 my dad was diagnosed with cancer, beat it and is now a survivor, I started a cancer charity with some of the most amazing women in my life, celebrated with 2 of my dearest friends who both had beautiful baby boys this year, spent some amazing weekends in NYC seeing brilliant theatre and reconnecting with Hill, went on an amazing vacation to Louisiana with my sister and had probably the most entertaining New Years Eve of my life (laughing for hours is hard to beat). What a year. <3
23. I miss having a dishwasher.
24. I swore I would never join facebook and now look at me, I am on here ALL FREAKIN’ DAY! (ignore the FB reference here, I am too lazy to write a new tidbit...lol)
25. I am going to go do my laundry now.

You kept my interest the entire time!
With most of these-and I'm going to be affluently honest-I don't read them all the way through. It's verging on horrible that I have a relatively short enough attention span that I usually skim through these. But yours kept me thoroughly entertained from start to finish! This is really cool! lol I might just have to make one of these for myself.

Cool!
This was really interesting. I may do this as a DCO blog some time down the line
I'm a twin, too...but we're fraternal. In fact, oftentimes people can't even tell we're sisters, much less twins.
My mom has a sense of smell like yours. It's really quite scary sometimes. I, on the other hand, have a *horrible* sense of smell. Everyone else around me can be saying: Hey what's that smell? And I'll be like: Huh? What? I don't smell anything. lol
