bobs.mom:

I heard David was going to sing gueseppe's version of Declaration on R&K.
What are we doing today? I'm stuck at home. The boys will be traveling getting ready for AZ. Raise your hand if you, like Neal, are itching for them to get back on the road.
Last night was fun on Twitter. Even though we were mostly blogging the game, David was twitting about the game, too. I have no ponies in the WS and was planning on turning it off when a certain someone started tweeting. I admit it; I'm pathetic. I could not turn the channel or go to bed until it was over. It just brought home to me all the stupid things I've done this year because of David Cook.
We could save this for the down time, but today may be a good time for it since there is not a whole lot going on. List 7 stupid things David has made you do. (When I say stupid, I mean things you never thought you'd do, that you may have thought was stupid when you heard other people doing it.)
I'll start:
1. follow a celebrity - first time for me.
2. post on a fanboard
3. facebook
4. meet people on-line
5. Twitter
6. collecting a bazillion photos and videos of bb rock star and his band of awesomeness
7. Standing on my feet for 12 hours waiting in line, GA concert, and bus stalking and getting home at 2:30am.
All I have to say for myself, is there a certain freedom and joy in being an idiot. I would not trade my Dave-stupidity for anything - except maybe for world peace or a cure for cancer.

My 7 Stupid Things Dave Makes Me Do
1. Post on fanboard
2. Twitter
3. Listen to underwater cellcasts in the evening during family time (this will no longer be happening!)
4. Relate almost every sentence that is said to me back to David Cook
5. Teach the 14mo baby I babysit how to say "David Cook" and recognize his pic
6. Actually get excited to wait in line for a rediculous amount of time just to be close to him
7. Meet people online, one of whom has become a close friend *winks at Mike*
What has he done to me?! I do realize that this whole fandom is rediculous looking from the outside in, but I love it. I've had the Time of My Life getting to know all of you.

bobs.mom: List 7 stupid things David has made you do.
I bolded stupid because David has made me do so many non-stupid things...
All of your list+
8. Drive for hours to see him. Used to think Lansing was far - 2.5 hours. Casino Rama is going to be about 7 hours!
9. Travel across a border to see him.
10. Let him wake me up in the middle of the night with his tweets just in case he has something important to say.. only my sons are allowed to do that.
11. Tell relatives I have to leave to go meet a rockstar and stand in line for 5 hours at JCP. Scariest part: they got it.
12. And the latest one: sign up for a freaking pancake flipping contest on a radio station to win front row tickets and possibility of cooking for him? What?! I don't do pancakes...

Stupid Things David Has Made Me Do:
1) Travel a total of 5,000 miles to see him live on 7 occasions
2) Justifying to my husband that the money I have spent flying 5,000 miles is less than many wives spend on clothes, hair and nails during same period.
3) Described the trips to concerts my family attended as "family mini-vacations"
4) Known to more people under an assumed name than people who know me by real name.
5) Twitter.....'nough said

I don't think I could come up with seven things David has made me do....only because I did a lot of these same things when I first went nuts over U2 back in 2005. That's when I started posting on message boards, traveling to see shows, etc. I think the only thing David has made me do that U2 didn't make me do was wait in line for 24 hours to see a show. I never thought I'd do that.

gatorgirl:

Stupid things, not limited to seven, because let's be honest here...:
1) stood in a parking lot in freezing cold & short sleeves for 2 hours just in case someone familiar wandered by
2) spent enough on hotels & rental cars to pay for a European vacation
3) pretended to have an emergency to leave a management team meeting early, but was really trying to buy tickets online
4) not to mention....I completely forgot to call into a statewide conference call because I was too busy planning last-minute concert trip
5) have at least 7 people programmed into my phone as their online aliases & live in fear that someone will need to borrow my phone & will think I've lost my mind
6) purchased two identical t-shirts because some words on the back changed
7) am following at least 4 pets on twitter
also following a rubber chicken
9) purchased a copy of DCTR for every person who even mentioned that they kind of liked him on Idol, in hopes of stealth Cookification outbreak
10) had a sekrit thrill when I heard a certain story because I coincidentally hate mustard too
11) hung out repeatedly with a Bulldog (my ancestral foe) & didn't even care
12) am plotting how to ditch work on a day when I'm supposed to be processing payroll, in order to squeeze in another concert (because who needs money, right?)
13) thought my DVR full of Cookie goodness bit the big one over the weekend & actual tears came out of my eyes
14) take it personally when someone in RL mentions the air-hay oss-lay
ETA: apparently an 8 followed by a ) makes a sunglasses dude. oops.
ETA2: 15) Saw a greenman at the FL/GA game, & unfavorably compared his a$$ and dancing skills to you-know-who

CuriousG:

*runs in* Am I too late?? 7 (ish) Stupid Things We’ve Done? Oh, oh…I wanna play too! Let me say this, though. I am hesitant to call anything that any of us have done silly stupid (even in the appropriate context!). I prefer to call them necessary actions taken in the line of duty. Pride and common sense are secondary items when it comes to this mission and sometimes, sometimes, we have to take one for the silly side to ensure our man stays afloat in the rough seas of rock stardom.
1) Chucked a perfectly good (and expensive) Rhapsody player for a lesser iPod just to get access to AI studio/live versions
2) Uttered the following words during the last 13 hours of labor; “Unless you are David f-ing Cook…Shut the F%#k up!!” That homestretch was me and the iDave, all others were asked to be silent. (incidentally, I have yet to live this one down)
3) Started following fan boards and sales numbers
4) Considered delaying the start of a new job because tickets for Ameristar went on sale the morning I started and I trusted no one to get the “right seats”
5) Stood in the cold for hours with thousands of my closest friends just to watch BF flip the switch at the KC Plaza Lighting ceremony (I hate crowds)
6) Became addicted to Twitter to the point I follow fake dogs and inanimate objects (i.e.-a damn chicken)
7) Bought multiple copies of the same CD in various formats just to get the hidden tracks…and then repeated the process for my hubbin so we had them for each car.
Hmm… the things we do. I wear my neurosis with pride! Not everyone gets it, but as long as I’m not alone, I’m good with it!

Aaaand we have a winner! LMAO
Though to be fair, that was not in any way stupid but just uttering the complete and absolute truth. Albeit in more colorful language and with many strangers (in the delivery room) present.

Nothing I could type would top this. I agree with PeachMango that you are our winner, not because it's the most "stupid", but because it's absolutely hilarious. I would have loved to see the reactions of the L&D staff that was with you when you said that. Hee!

OMG, I thought my story was the worst*, but after reading Gatorgirl, and then CuriousG, I bow down in awe.
* I;ve told this before, on a DWoP from days long past. My house got broken into while I was there, and somehow I missed the whole thing. Because I was too busy cyberstalking Dave to pay attention to the sound of burglar bars being broken out and rooms being searched.
In my defence, I was listening to Dave on Itunes at the time.

mitziblum:

We are listing stupid things we have done for David Cook? That could take hours, but let's see if I can summarize into something shorter than a three page stanza:
1. Bought tix to a concert six months in advance of the concert actually occurring and when I didn't get
seats I wanted, bought new tix so I could be closer (as I begged hubbin to help -- ended up with 4th
row) -- first seriously delusional act on my part.
2. Went to a show I wasn't even supposed to be at because I had an open day and hey, what''s a 1-1/2
hr. drive to meet up with complete strangers (hoping they weren't serial killers) just so I could see BF
earlier than September? Met Swanny, CloseYourEyes, CCF and many other DCO fans that day. Oh
and I met BF that day too (WOO HOO!)
3. Drove 4-1/2 hours to Ohio to see David at yet another concert I wasn't supposed to be at, but it was
just to close to pass up.
4. Joined fan sites, Twitter, Facebook, anything I could get my hands into for more information about
BF and his band of awesomeness (tm bobs.mom).
5. Convinced hubbin that going to Canada would be a great way to celebrate our anniversary and my
birthday -- while getting to see more BF shows (one with hubbin, one without).
6. Finding every single Axium, MWK, and pre-Idol song or sound bite I could and download them
for posterity (three iDaves later I may add -- EEK).
7. Having to log into Twitter and DCO every morning just to make sure everyone's okay.
8. Listening at all hours of the evening/wee hours of a.m. to horrible Navy Davy cellcasts "just in
case" he does something "incredible" (does that always happen?).
9. Giving up any rational behavior as far as BF is concerned months ago. It's just easier to tell people
"yeah, I don't consider myself so much a stalker but more of an 'invested fan.'
10. Bringing my sister in-law over to the "dark side" by having her come along to Windsor on 14th. Gave
her my extra-CD used for Cookification purposes. Got her -- hook, line and sinker.
11. Also signed up to win the cheesy pancake flippin contest because hey, it's David f**king Cook (tm
CuriousG) and why not? My son is a culinary arts major/chef and I am sure he can teach me
quickly how to flip a friggin pancake!

Wow! This is hilarious! I could imagine myself doing the same thing! I am pretty new to DWoP, but find it very entertaining and I feel like I am getting to know a lot of you. I am not quite at the level as a lot of you, I've only been to 2 Detour shows and 1 AI tour, but here goes..
1) Voted on American Idol (multiple, multiple times) for the first time!
2) Forced my then boyfriend of 6 months to drive 7 hours to KC for the AI Tour (no longer together, not the reason though!) Drove 4 hours for my second Detour show and to meet BF which was amazing!!
3) Stayed up TOO late (multiple times) to watch You Tube videos of the BF (first time referring to him as that and I LIKE it!!)
4) Joined Twitter for BF related items
5) Would drop everything if I had the money to see DCTA in CA on New Years// Discovered Axium, MWK and THH, Ryan Starr, Crash Kings and GRO!!
6) Posted on forum sites//met some fun people online//1 in person
7) Edit: Someone reminded me that it isn't normal to check Twitter and DCO every morning to make sure I haven't missed anything DC related while sleeping. That HAS to be normal! Right?

CuriousG Thank you for that great laugh about your labour room experience. Tell us more if you can. And yes you win hands down.
CYE I remember your burglary story from way back when. Hilarious.
My 7 stupid things
1 Cried when David won
2 bought a laptop and learned to find Cook stuff
3 Bought an Ipod and downloaded multiple copies of the same songs.
4 woke up at 6 am every summer morning to find the latest Mavid
5 joined a fan site and learned to post.
6 Now own an Iphone cause I wanted to follow Twitter all the time
7 Travelling thousands of miles for 2 concerts and pretending I'm really coming to visit my brother.
Oh and none of this is stupid. It's educational isn't it?
I will never regret this crazy cause I feel the best I've felt in years.
ETD Curious you beat me to it

wishful2:

OK, don't post much but I've been here long enough to have mumblety seven...
1. Lost 55 pounds and gained muscle since January so I'd feel younger and move better at the concerts. (WORTH IT!! in so many ways!)
2. Bought a new mp3 player with a Big Screen just to watch the vids (expensive!).
3. Took a friend to a concert 4 hours away and told the fam. we were taking her to see a "specialist". (no, I'm not out of the closet....they truly wouldn't understand). Specialist is right though, isn't it????
4. Bought a portable dvd player to play his Idol performances when I'm stuck waiting in the car.
5. Drove 9 hrs. one way to a concert to cookify a friend.
6. Flew 1500 miles each way for a 1 1/4 hour concert.
7. Learned "Forumese" at WTFU, both undergraduate and graduate level and Love the new language (use it in many areas of my life, much to my kids' astonishment).
8. Rediscovered JOY, Music, and the good that Squeeing does for the brain (it's even scientifically proven!).

ncc1991:

I think CuriousG wins hands down in the What I Did For Dave category. So glad I wasn't drinking anything.
My own list is curiously similar to many others. In no particular order.
1. Go Phone for text wh*ring, iTunes, Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, YouTube, fan sites.
2. Leaving a note on the locked front door of my clinic saying "back in 10 minutes", enlisting the help of my employee and sitting in front of two computers with sweaty palms on ticket buying day. Multiple times.
3. Fighting the urge to see what I'd come up with on ticketmaster for shows I'm not attending knowing that if I scored a good ticket I'd HAVE to go.
4. Driving by myself 8 hours to Memphis because it was a small venue and I was worried I wouldn't get to see him in a small venue in the future.
5. Standing crushed against the railing for 9 hours in 4" of water, soaked to my underwear, with no bathroom break or food even though I had an actual seat further back because I was on the FRONT ROW at Red, White & Boom. Then driving to Wichita the next day, standing in 100 degree heat and driving back to KC same night.
6. I also have various people in my cell phone by their Twitter/DCO/DC42 names.
7. Flying somewhere just to attend a concert. This was the crossover into Crazyville with concerts 10 and 11. Is Gueseppe renting out rooms in her condo? I bet she knows a good real estate agent.
8. Knowing every band member's name, their birthday, their dog's name. And driving 4 hours to attend concerts by a band member. Several times.
9. Made more friends and found more happiness than I ever would have guessed.
All of it completely worth it.
ETA: OK, I know it's more than 7. You're lucky it isn't 77, because I'm reasonably sure I could get there, especially since I keep reading everyone's list and going "oh yeah, that one should have been on my list".
One that will probably eventually be on the list because it hasn't happened yet - I'm seriously considering a tattoo. It feels closer every day.

Monday, November 2, 2009 - 16:52
Cook_Crush:

Reading all of your top 7 lists today reminds me of my favorite quote by Ozzy Osbourne (and I include myself in this too):
I love you all. I love you more than life itself, but you're all f&*^ing mad.
I can picture David saying that to all of us one day.

KarenFH:

Hmm, 7 stupid things David Cook has made me do?
Well things that David would have made me do if Lee Mead hadn't gotten there first the year before:
1. Buy a new PC and get Broadband to be able to watch YT and
2. Join an internet forum to chat with like minded strangers about The Voice and Arm Porn etc.
3. Buy an mp3 player so I could
4. Down load tracks of dubious legality (well I would have bought them if I could)
5. Go to see the same show more than once
6. Arrange to meet and share a room with people I had only ever met on-line
Now these are most definitely David's fault:
1. Stay up to the early hours of the morning listening to an underwater cellcast
2. Join Twitter (which I was adamant I'd never do)
3. Fly 3,500 miles for 2 concerts, and unlike rubytuesday, I have no relatives in Toronto that I could claim to be visiting

Monday, November 2, 2009 - 17:11
HappyDance:

I love reading all of these “crazy/stupid” things that David Cook made me do.
1) Traveled to 8 states: New York, Georgia, Florida, Indiana, Missouri, Michigan, Wisconsin, Kentucky (not to mention my home state of Illinois) and Canada to see our favorite rock star, when in the not so distant past I didn’t even want to drive into Chicago for a concert because it was time-consuming and inconvenient. Truly, the lengths I will go for this guy have astounded me, but I’ve had the best time on this crazy journey.
2) Signed up on a fan site.
3) Stayed up way past my bedtime to listen to underwater cellcasts
4) Scouted out the newest Mavid videos after every AI7 tour show.
5) Learned the true meaning of Squee!
6) Found out that it was near torture to be off of the internet grid in Hawaii and Canada to get my David Cook fix, and luckily found ways to get a quick hit here and there and new friends who could keep me in the loop.
7) Making some great new friendships and getting to share this experience with some of the wittiest, most intelligent, and caring people I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet, both virtually and in person.

Monday, November 2, 2009 - 17:23
Shazzer:

Ok, stupid things I’ve done for David:
1. Got into work at the crack of dawn so I could leave at 2PM, drive 2 hours down (which at that time of day turned into 3 hours) to Richmond to have dinner with a bunch of people I’d never met before (save 1 *waves* to la_eddie) but had talked to online (*waves* to dianaruth -- where are you dianaruth?) and then see BF and the band. Immediately after the show I drove the 2 hours back home, went to bed at 1ish AM and was up again before 7 to get into work. And somehow I didn’t fall asleep at work. But I did walk around in a daze with a stupid grin on my face.
2. Voted for CBTM for hours on VH1’s website even though I knew doing so would aggravate my carpel tunnel. Then woke up before the crack of dawn on a weekend to watch VH1 and see where CBTM placed. I don’t sacrifice sleep for anyone. ANYONE. Except, apparently, David Cook. (See #1 above as further evidence.)
3. Told my subordinates that I was going to be late for our meeting because of a pressing issue and to just run it until I could get there. Was actually trying (against the rules) to get online for tickets to the WV concert. Got Row 6 to the most epic concert ever. Totally worth it if they ever find out.
4. Signed up on Twitter. Asked permission from a rubber chicken to follow her on Twitter. Was excited when the rubber chicken decided that I was worthy and accepted me as a follower.
6. Sat on the beach with jasmine where I stupidly told her that I only went to concerts that I could drive to and would never, ever fly to one of BF’s concerts. Ate my words when I flew to see BF in Connecticut and Georgia. Oh, and I’m flying to California for New Years, too. Which brings me to stupid things that I may do for David. . .
6. Work may send me to Italy in December. If so, then I’m going to stay for Christmas with my very dear friend who lives over there. Then I’ll leave Italy on 26 or 27 December, fly back to Virginia for 3-4 days before flying across the country. My body will be trying to celebrate New Years in at least 3 time zones.
7. Told people online my travel plans for the next 2 months. If you break into my place while I’m gone, please feed and pet the cat, but don’t let her out.

QueenJ:

I love this topic today! I have repressed most of my good stories so I can pretend to be a sane person in real life (unsuccessfully) but I do recall a couple off the top of my head and will add more if I can think of it...
....I spent the afternoon in an internet cafe in Acapulco just to check the sales numbers and found out DCTR had sold platinum.
...I made my husband wake up on our vacation in Atlanta and drive to 2 different wal-marts at 6am in the rental car on accident
...I have woken up countless mornings at 5 or 6 am just to hear a radio interview where they ask the same questions
...Stayed up to 3am numerous times to see Bouncy Dave and ydniW #1 on VH1
...I also have been on (soon to be) 5 trips, 4 states, and 2 countries to see 9 concerts.

Curious G...hilarious!
I didn't have time to post my seven silly things this morning and can't top the delivery room story, but:
1. Discovered that there are actually web sites/fan sites that discuss American Idol.
2. Joined every site I could find that had anything to do with David Cook
3. Bought one of those magazines at the check out stand from the supermarket for the first time ever as it had an article on the "sexiest" idol ever. (OK? )
4.Cut out the picture from that magazine of the sexiest idol ever and replaced a photo of my son and ex-fiance in a frame and had it proudly displayed in my kitchen for weeks. (Amazingly, even the AC repairman knew who he was)
5. Bought an ipod and downloaded my very first itune.
6. Met up with a total a total stranger to buy concert tickets.
7. Pretend that I am doing online job search when I am really just reading DCO.
and of course the list could go on.

I don't have 7 stupid things I've done for/because of Dave. Mainly because I don't, for one minute, believe any of the things we do regarding Dave are stupid. LOL
But I've done things I didn't expect to do.
Got an Ipod that soon became and Itouch
Got a tattoo connecting 2 of my fave things. DC and my daughter. Thank you, David.
Got on twitter, before Dave even, but rather in the hope he would succumb and to keep up on Dave stuff
Listen to cellcasts, underwater cellcasts. Heh
Learned how to DL mp3s and videos to Itouch.
And various other things that have actually been quite educational technology wise. He's made me smarter around techy things and he gave me my love of music back. it's all good.
Loving all the lists, though. LMAO and smiling because who else would understand us so?--

Logic 101
All the stupid things I have done for David Cook = have brought me happiness , and/or soothed me.
smartest things I have done = those that have brought me happiness and/ or soothed me
∴ All the stupid things I have done for David Cook = Smartest things I have done
None of it is hurting me or others. I did have airport security give me the stink eye for my insistent voting on 2 cellphones HLTW week and I got a traffic ticket once... but nothing else.
Reading all your stupid things I realized I've done almost all of them too! The one I'm sure I haven't done, and will NOT be doing in the future either, is Curious G's labor and delivery story, haha, but I think that is a very smart thing to do... whatever it takes to help get through something like that... I recently took iDave to a biopsy with me.... The Voice helped.

I've got Seven Stupid Things...
1. Hand cranked a TV in the Appalachian Mountains to watch David sing MOTN;
2. Rearranged DCTR placement at BestBuy to give David ultimate visual impact;
3. Stood in a daze at Virgin Megastore when the entire store was bedecked in David Cook pictures, pretending to be incredibly interested in AC/DC power converters;
4. Harrassed numerous co-workers in search of an NYU alum with ID;
5. Have David's picture on my cell phone and "blamed" my daughter;
6. Discussed Big Cook envy with a high roller on an Amtrak train to Atlantic City. and
7. Post online for over a year as a Yak.

Two things I completely agree with:

I don't have 7 stupid things I've done for/because of Dave. Mainly because I don't, for one minute, believe any of the things we do regarding Dave are stupid. LOL

Logic 101

smartest things I have done = those that have brought me happiness and/ or soothed me
∴ All the stupid things I have done for David Cook = Smartest things I have done
That said, I have done some things I'm sure others would think are stupid/silly, even though I/we don't.
1. Bought my first (and 2nd and 3rd) mp3 player and searched numerous stores to find the "perfect" earbud headphones so Dave could sing to me while I sleep. There have been less than a handful of nights in the last year that I haven't had Dave's voice in my ear while I sleep.
2. Sat outside on a breezy 20 degree day, by myself, waiting to catch a glimpse of the band. Keep in mind this wasn't a GA show.
3. Visited my sister's house Easter weekend (when no one there was home) to use her high speed internet connection to buy tickets.
4. Stayed at the office after working all night to buy tickets that went on sale right as my shift ended.
5. Called my boss while I was in line for one concert, to see if I would be able to get time off the following week for another concert.
6. I had been on message boards before, but not until Dave did I sign up for MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Flickr.
7. My favorite feature in the car we purchased last January is the USB port, so I can plug in my flash drive and have hours of non-stop music as I drive to concerts.

sugarpie:

Won't post a seven-part list of cwazy DC stuff that I have done. Much of mine is like yours. Guess that is why I love being here with you in Cwazy-Davey mode.
But three shtoopid things stand out for me this year.
1. Actually spent several hours shopping for and buying cute but nonrevealing jammies with robe and slippers. I planned to wear it to Walmart at midnight for the DCTR release. This was going to be a pajama party for me and David! At 11 o'clock when I absolutely couldn't think of any rational way of explaining to my husband without causing him to have permanent eye-rollitis, I sadly admitted I was beyond psychiatric help and went to bed. In the morning at 6 AM, I found they still didn't have DCTR out and would have to wait for the department supervisor to get the new CD's at 8 AM. Geeez.
2. Slept with a total stranger. Now when I realize that I slept with a "gatrgirl" (Yikes!) to help with the costs of a road trip, I know I have been living on the edge.
3. Now introduce my husband, "this is (..........) The Pie Guy!"

Monday, November 2, 2009 - 19:14
Janus:

My version of crazy:
7. Didn't know what twitter was 2 years ago. Now I have 2 twitter accounts and won't tell anyone in real life what my screen name is for either. Janus is very two faced.
6. Dragged 12 yo daughter to DC to meet "Idols" (David Cook) even though she didn't want to meet them (She wanted to go to the art museum. What am I doing wrong?)
5. Posted such risque comments online that to this day I am embarrassed when I meet you guys in person and wonder what you are thinking.
4. Drove 10 hrs to "visit my in-laws" with 16 yo son to get a 100th show t-shirt.
3. Convinced husband to go to Atlantic City-Borgata concert for anniversary and proceeded to spend very little time with him because I was having too much fun with you guys.
2.Had husband leave me in AC for a second concert that I had no ticket for and then took the train home (after hanging out at the AC bus stop with the homeless for a couple of hours) (Thanks so much for Angie and Yak letting me stay with them for most of the night rather than the homeless all night.)
And the really crazy:
1. Bought a ticket for the Dec 2 concert in Norfolk because it is the last concert that's not NYE even though on the 3rd I have to teach an 8AM class and I have my Anatomy and Physiology final at 11:00. In 4 yrs at LSU I never missed a test. I don't even know if there was a "Test Center" there. Now I have to find a sub for my lame ass and reschedule my final if I go.
ETA: To clarify that Angie and Yak are not the homeless.

The craziest DC-related thing I did would certainly have to be buying Declaration Tour tickets for Atlantic City in a frenzy—seriously, my hands were shaking and my heart was pounding—before they all sold out when I live in Texas and had no earthly reason why I should be in New Jersey in March. But the first craziest thing I did was get digital cable and a DVR installed during the late afternoon on New Year’s Eve so that I could devote the next couple of weeks to watching and recording the entire season of AI when they replayed it on the Fox reality channel (after I had very responsibly gotten rid of cable television to cut down on expenses a few months earlier).
There’s no question that we all belong together, is there? I love how Crazy Town has become a place people want to get into! Of course, once it was equated with 10 concerts how could it be anything but desirable?

Christine-OH:

7 examples of my new way of life: AKA Living in crazy town regardless of the # of shows:
1. I went from virtually no electronic devices to plugging my life in every night – in the last year, I have obtained a new camera, an I-Pod, a GPS (although that might have been necessary just to get to the next town – what – I can get lost in a box), an I-pod alarm clock so I can fall asleep to SOMEONE’s music, a new laptop, high speed wireless internet (I was on dial-up before) and a new car (that was going to happen anyway, but I never could have done any of this without it). And I can back it all up on the external hard drive that went from “that would be a safe thing to do” to “must have for DC protection” in a flash.
2. I owned about 10 CD’s a year ago. There are now more than 1200 songs on my I-Pod (all legally obtained, when physically possible). 221 of them are sung by David Cook. About 50 more are a direct result of David Cook (Ryan Star, Phil Marshall, GRO, MWK).
3. There is a website I visit every day that does not involve checking my e-mail. EVERY day. And I have posted on said website and hosted a virtual bar there on more than one occasion.
4. I am following the career of an up-and-coming, honest to goodness rock star with surprising enthusiasm and diligence. To the point of creating spreadsheets to track set lists and printing out and analyzing lyrics in a three ring binder. And starting contests for YouTube videos and photographs (shameless plug – see link below).
5. Seeing multiple concerts for the same performer in a single calendar year. It will be 7 before it’s all over and done with. But it’s only 2 states and one province. So I’m leaving the country for one of them – a bunch of y’all are, too. So what?
6. I have met complete strangers who I now count among my real-life friends – and feel closer to a bunch of virtual friends than I would have ever imagined. Granted, I read and laugh and cry with you all without you knowing, but I have had to explain references to cats and yaks and velociraptors, and gators and someone who refers to herself as KDC, and a giant metal dog and countless others, who I will probably always remember as their wonderful Avi’s (remember when we weren’t sure about those things that took up so much room on the thread? I love them now). And those who use real live names just confuse my friends even more, ‘cause they think you are people in my real world – and you are.
7. I have learned more in the last year than I have since I was in college. There are acronyms coming out of my ears and I know what almost all of them mean now. I have mastered (ha – not really mastered, but can use) HTML code, I can upload photos and videos to different web sites and have learned how to convert those to MP3’s and MP4’s. I know what YouTube is and why Photobucket is a good thing and what an important thing virus protection is. And I have learned that there is still enthusiasm to be shared and fun to be had and that there are good people in this world who try to do the right thing every time. They support the causes they believe in and they are kind and considerate and caring. And they include David Cook, his band, his friends, and his fans.
Everything has changed. It’s been a roller coaster year – some of the highest highs I have ever experienced. And some of the lowest lows. For many of you, you’re creeping up on two years of being “in the know”. I’m technically over a year, but only by a few months. And today, in particular, marks a milestone, personally. So, thanks, bobs.mom, for a special excuse to review my journey to crazy town. There is nowhere else I’d rather be.

7 stupid things I have done:
...Went to visit exhusband in michigan in order to see David in concert, was reminded why the marriage ended more than once but also reminded why we got married in the first place, the man makes me laugh always has.
.....Have flown 4 times to 4 different places in one calender year. 2 of those were just to see David in concert in fact am doing that right now 2 were also to visit with family, the farthest I have ever traveled to see a concert was a four hour drive to the Gorge in Washington state.
....joined a fan board and post way way way to much on it
....Slept with strangers and was not murdered in my sleep'
.... took my grown kids to a concert and actually cared whether they liked the performer
....bought more than one copy of a record
....voted on the internet for PCA, VH1, etc
I am glad there are only 7 because I could go on. : )

LOL SteveQueeks. A fake account if I ever saw one, but I love it.
OK, my stupid list:
1. Had to go to a funeral the night of the final AI voting. Wrote "Vote for David Cook tonight!" on the back of my car window to remind others on the interstate. Several people who passed us honked and gave a thumbs up. (insert warm fuzzy happy feelings here) Some people in the funeral home parking lot noticed and probably thought it was inappropriate. Thank goodness we got home in time for me to do 4 hours of voting on 4 phones. I had it down to a science, but fingers were sore. LOL!
2. Purchased tickets the morning of the Tulsa AI show drove 3 hours there and 3 hours back in the post hurricane blowing rains. Didn't get home until 3:30 AM. Had to pry my fingers off the steering wheel.
3. Drove 3 hours north to Fulton, back that night at 3 AM, Hit the road that morning again for Conway, Arkansas, a 5.5 hour drive, for back row balcony seating. Luckily was able to upgrade when I got there. So 3 days, 17 hours driving.
4. Bought tickets on ebay for too much money, then worried the entire time before the show about whether they were legitimate. They were, phewww.
5. Paid way too much for tickets that were free for original holder (TU). Told friend I got them for free so she would be able to go with me.
6. Drove 19 hours round trip alone for Ohio show.
7. Purchased Verizon Mi-Fi internet and signed one year contract before I even knew if it was going to work where I needed to use it. Turned out it didn't work, but luckily got out of contract for that without penalty. Close call there.
8. While on vacation drove around to "steal" unprotected wireless to feed my DCO/David Cook addiction.
Man, I thought I would have trouble coming up with 7 stupid human tricks. It was so easy, I could go on! But you know what, it was worth every stupid little act. Well, maybe not that Mi-Fi thingy.

I think my 7 have all been stated:
1. Bought tickets from 2 complete strangers I met here, trusting they'd have them and driving through a snowstorm 3 hours to claim them hours before the concert. Finally had to explain to DH where I found these people, so he finally knew I was visiting this site. He's teased me about being a groupie.
2. Rearranged displays to give DCTR prominence (didn't everyone?)
3. Not so crazy, but was dragged into the 21st century by signing up for YouTube, iTunes, twitter, etc. Learned to use camera a bit better, and how to upload and download stuff and burn CDs. I forget how many other technologies I've adopted.
4. Posted on a fan board for the first time ever.
5. Made some friends on the internet for the first time.
6. Checked out lots of other music based on David's recommendations.
7. Casually manage to play a lot of his music with guests in my car, hoping they'll comment and love him.

Thank you, Ms follia
Actually David made me feel sensual/sexual again and now I look and see it all around me but don't know how to turn the clock back.
Isn't that what dreams are for?
Actually David made me put thousands of miles on my car.
And thousands of $$ on our credit cards
actually David made me buy an ipod, computer, earplugs, earbuds, new stereo with aux and usb for my car,
and big screen tvs, and external hard drives, and new cameras, and the list goes on
Actually David made me buy jeans, and a jacket from the young and the restless
Hey, I wore a pyjama top all the way from Winnipeg to Los Angeles because it had "rock star" printed on it in silver (not puffy) paint.
Actually David made me declare independence from business as usual in my home life.
and a damned good thing that was. David said I shouldn't feel guilty about not cleaning my house.
Actually David and DCO have brought me more highs and more angst and more laughter in the year and a half since his win than at any other time in my life.
the valleys may have been low but the peaks have been oh so high. Such joy.
Actually David made me wear a rockin' grandma tee shirt.
There are some lines I just won't cross. Even for you, Dave.
Actually David made me learn how to scream at a concert.
to the everlasting regret of my eardrums. I retaliated by demonstrating how I can still reach a high "C".
Actually David made me learn how to download and rip vids and mp3s and how to use itunes.
And a very rocky adventurous road it was. LOL
Actually David made me sign up for facebook, myspace, twitter.
I think you're actually supposed to use them if you sign up for them. ::winks::
Actually David made me reach outside my comfort zone to people I didn't know a year and a half ago and whom I now consider good friends.
I with ya there gf.
Actually David made me put spending money on experiences before spending on things.
something I learned many years ago but Dave made me perfect it.

It may be late for 7 Stupid Things, but I've dun'em.
1. In honour of David's portrayal of the green matador during "Ring of Fire", I dressed my Kirmet as a matador (exactly like David). I brought it to the Idol tour for David to sign the cape. He asked who made such a cute thing. I proudly declared, "I did. David it is a representation of you as a matador". There was a very long pause. David signed the cape and said "Oh".
2. Huge confession: I accidently came across someone's blog fiction about David. It has him involved with a girl he has known all his life from Blue Springs. I am now totally addicted to this story, even though it is like reading a romance novel.
4. I'm allowed to tell only one new fact or piece of trivia about David at each meeting with the friend I spend most time with.
5. People seemed surprised when I travelled from Toronto to Chapel Hill, NC to see DC and TA but it was the only chance to see them in a 600 seat venue. I just didn't realize it would be a 600 seat oven.
6. I painted an bbq apron for the Idol tour performance and then chickened out of wearing it. It said "COOKED or in the RAW, all I need is DAVID". I was afraid he'd run if he saw that. What I've learned about David since has convinced me he'd quietly have security remove me!
7. I know a Tigerlily, a Tarheel in the flesh and over cyberspace many others esp. Ariadne, BobsMom and others I've come close to meeting at performances. As has been said, this DCO community is a group of very special friends. I don't post as often as many of you but I value all that I read.
Eta: true confession - I fell unburdened!

My 7 Stupid Things:
1) Meticulously cut Dave out of a magazine I normally wouldn't be caught dead buying so I could, with impunity, have him mingle in my cubicle with other cutouts that some stealth cutter-outer had put there.
2) Spent countless hours Illustrating a belligerent rainbow, fifteen adventurous hairs, and a Zen master whose alter-ego is a platinum boat anchor. Also, prepared a number of revisions to arm said rainbow with assorted lethal weapons, and later, put a birthday hat on him.*
3) Outed myself to my little brother in our mother's hospital room so I could borrow his iPhone to listen to David Cook's little brother interview his rhythm guitar player.
4) Made spurious online threats to bludgeon the AT&T guy to death with my modem if he didn't get my f*cking internet working again after going 3 whole days without.
5) Came dangerously close to a panic attack when I realized my DVR had experienced an epic fail and everything on it was gone, including all of AI7, post-win appearances/performances, etc.
6) Upgraded my DISH package to get Fox Reality channel and replace said AI7 performances.
7) Frequently found myself watching Idol Tonight.
I've also been to 8 concerts, soon to be 9, but since I've never flown, never driven more than a few hours and never stood in line for more than 90 minutes, yet have still been front row once and close enough to see the whites of his eyes several times, I'm feeling pretty smarty-pants about all that.

mujerfeliz2009:

Good morning Dwop friends..
Let´s see... crazy things I´ve done because of David Cook:
- To join every existent board about him (The Dash, Home of the Word Nerds, Bitten by a Cougar, DavidCookfans, DavidCookAI Live Journal Community, MJs, DC-42, and some of them that I cannot remember now)
- Spent the whole 2008 summer watching and rewatching AI-7 in HQ (I got them at Wordnerd Media), and AI Tour Videos, every night after 9:00pm I had a self-impossed curfew. If I couldn´t see him, I didn´t sleep right.
- I came back to my teenager years, printing pictures of him and put them in my closet door, to the amusement and jokes from my daughter and sister who live with me. In fact, my job and home computers, beside my Cellphone share the same wallpaper = David Cook.
- Spent months that I didn´t listen other music, but DC. I couldn´t enjoy anything else.
- The first webpage that I check no matter where I am (work, home, family), is DCO, specifically Dwop. My personal email is second. Sigh!
- Sometimes I forgot my MSN per Twitter. It´s funnier to chat with +- 100 people at the same time. My RL friends don´t complain too much, we just use the phone more.
- I have found myself speaking spanish in the way I write in english. Some gramatical rules are different, for example you use the adjetive before the noun, in spanish is the opposite. So, now sometimes I say "pretty house" = bonita casa instead of saying "casa bonita", that is the right way to say it in spanish. People look at me in a funny way. Well, a benefit of this, my english have gotten better, I feel more confident and even, I have dared to translate a book from english to spanish to share with all my friends.
- I´ve had awoken at 5:00 am to check my computer before to go to work, just in case, David did something interesting and I - just - didn´t- want- to - wait- to-see- it !
- Spent a couple of months listening the mp3 with "music on demand" in the middle, because there was not way that I would get DCTR illegally. (Finally, at december 2008 one good friend was traveling to USA and she bought it for me. I was over the moon, I don´t care that I knew all the songs already. To listen a clean version was a religious experience).

When I read all the nifty and touching lists of everybody's SEVEN CRAZY THINGS (7CT), I think, "God Bless that David Roland Cook for entering our lives!"
My life has always been full of unpredictable activities, interests and hobbies. Sometimes I get deeply involved with crafts or cooking. At times, I may be reading 3 or 4 books a week. Then there are periods of trying for a world record trout trophy. Add in church, granddaughters, moving three times in 10 years, gardening, constructing a real mossy-boulder stream bed with perennials, and all the go-here, go-there of friends and kids and travel with husband.
Often when I really get absorbed in one of these activities, I don't really pay attention to other stuff going on around me. TV often goes unused.
When I realize that it was just happenstance that I tuned in to watch David on Idol last year, my heart almost seizes up. Scary to think my relationship with him and you all might have not happened.
That lucky event was almost like the day my beautiful husband walked into my office and my life (as I had quit the job just weeks before but then returned).
So happy I made it here!

Ok, here are my 7 crazy things David made me do (probably more than 7 but I don't count well--I am a wordnerd) My list is probably fairly sane compared to others but here goes.
*Learned how to text on my cell phone so that I could vote for him. Never text anything before David.
*Learned how to download videos from youtube and extract the audio to be saved as MP3s
*Downloaded itunes so I could download all his AI7 performances, etc.
*Bought a new laptop computer, DVR, ipod and new headphones, new stereo for bedroom and ALL because of David
*Upgraded my internet service
*Right after my internet upgrade...was the day of AI homecoming...stayed on line most of day to watch live streaming of David's KC and Blue Spring events....WOW
*Bought 3 copies of his CD when it came out. Never have bought 3 copies of any single CD from any artist before!
*Voted for his videos on VH1, voted on various polls, and have requested his music everywhere.
*Submitted 3 questions to The Dash for his mom- Beth- for her Friday segment on Kelly's radio show. 2 of the questions were chosen by The Dash and were used on the show. I was soo excited.
*Joined Twitter-- where I am now also following 5 dogs, a squirrel, and a chicken!!! Crazy World!
If you would have told me 3 years ago I would be doing all these things...I would have told you that you were crazy...I am not that kind of person. BUT David has now changed my life.
It is all his fault. And for all this I received my youth back (feel like a teen again) and lots of love from this site and friends on Twitter. And of course-- that fantastic voice, that adorable face, and the amazing music. It is all worth it 10,000 times!!

Well, as I consider myself the ambassador for doing stupid things in the name of David Cook, you would think my list would be easier to come up with. And probably more numerous. But so much of what I do (message boards, meeting up with people I met online) I've done in the past. The following 7 things are solely David's fault, however (and most are repeats from other people's lists):
- voted for AI, even though I knew my husband's eyes would roll so far out of his head I might not see them again.
- Drove 2.5 hours through a very intense tropical storm to see BF and his friends singing cover songs.
- bought an iPod, learned to download youtube and other videos from the internet, learned to make mp3s from said videos, learned to convert videos to mp4 to put on iPod.
- learned enough HTML to be able to italicize and bold and make pretty links.
- drove 8 hours to see BF play 6 songs. Stood in line for 7 hours for the honor of standing directly under him. Had more fun than I've ever had before laughing and singing and actually getting to talk about David with real live people who "get it".
- visit all 3 local Wal-Marts on a regular basis to make sure DCTR is at the front of it's stack. This no longer works at one of them because when they remodeled they put the "C" section of the CDs right across from the checkout counter. I swear they did this to thwart my efforts.
- meticulously followed sales numbers and radio spin counts. Complete with spreadsheet of my local stations and how often they were playing each song.
Then, of course, is the story of my sig line. David Cook makes me stupid because I tend to get lost driving around places I have driven for years because I get so caught up in his voice I forget where I am and where I was going in the first place. That's the highbrow version of the story. The lowbrow version is where friend and I drove past the theater parking 3 times, the first time ending up back on the interstate headed out of town, because we were discussing, um, well, some lowbrow stuff (*cough*fanbase*cough*). Finally I said - we've got to discuss world politics or something until I get this car parked. That worked.

Mike...:

My seven:
1) got into a time machine and became a teenager again
2) risk the chance of getting fired at work everyday because of internet use (DCO, youtube)
3) having a secret relationship with Byrd. Neither of our husbands know we have become besties
4) put BF's music loud in my car with the windows rolled down (this is like Rock Ghetto) LOL
5) Brain cells have become mini Dave oreos
6) started eating my nails just because David does it (ok this one is really stupid)
7) Started praying to David rather than God (ok maybe not... but prays to God for David)
EYE think we have all become insane cooks!!!!! (that is our last name right?!) well except for Coolie; she is an insane skib. *wink*

Maybe I`ll try to think of seven stupid things David made me do. But to be honest, I don`t think these are so stupid at all!
These are initially things I never imagined to do, but am a happy panda doing this!
1) Fall in love to some singer on a TV show.
2) Begin to follow this said singer on internet and digging up everything to be found.
3) Spending almost all my free time doing that.
4) Falling deeper and deeper to this young man who could be my son, and finally thinking of him almost like a member of my family.
These are things I probably woul`ve done anyway, but David made me do it now: (these all are good things, of which I`m also happy!)
5) Learn to download music from internet and burn it on CD:s.
6) Buy an external hard drive and iPod.
7) Learn all kind of computer skills, which I`ve hated from the bottom of my heart (and basically still hate)
So the conclusion: it`s been "a trip" (tm Dave) A HAPPY TRIP! No end in sight!

My 7 things have also been well-covered by others but for what it's worth!
1) Created a paypal account and had my virgin ebay experience by spending over $450 on two tickets for a college show that wound up being cancelled (sniff, sniff).
2) Voted on AI for the first time, on "Innocent" night, because I realized I couldn't fathom a week without my BF on my TV.
3) Voted on AI with three different phones for 4 hours while my husband shook his head at me and actually said, "What have you done with my wife?"
4) Outed myself proudly to all co-workers and family members as a Cook fan for life, which got me a "Cougars for Cook" apron for my birthday in return
5) Spend way, way, way too much work time on this site and others
6) Risk my husband's eye-rolling disapproval every time I buy concert tickets
7) Have driven the long way to work in order to listen to more Cook music

7 Stoopid Things
1. Learning to spell words incorrectly--like stoopid & skeered, understanding at a glance acronyms--like DWoP & GNYOT,Y, relishing song nicknames--like Yo Face & Yo Arms, and getting cornfused when peeps outside our circle look at me funny when I throw them into everyday convos.
2. Getting all techno-savvy downloading, converting formats, creating movies, uploading to Utubie, refreshing ticket bastard, googling Dave (snerk), tweeting Barbasol roadsigns like the old Burma Shave ads, buying music from itunes, and finding the delete button on the adage about old dogs and new tricks.
3. Spoofing "Shop Around the Corner" when going to meet Jen for first time by bringing a David Archuleta fan magazine with plastic flowers tucked in the pages, hoping axe murdering will not take place when she sees Archie's sweet face.
4. Going through serious DWoP withdrawal in January 09 when my computer died and new installation took 1 WHOLE WEEK! (I know, right?) Begging someone to catch me up. (Thanks, Kaydeecee.)
5. Still entertaining the concept that things ought to slow down around here, though it never has.
6. Telling my family that I've met people who are smart, funny, and fun--that it's like a sociological study and Dave & his merry men are almost a happenstance point of interest--and that I wanted to pursue happiness for once in my life and that they should just shut up about it.
7. What ever trouble I can get into tonight at my DC&TA concert.

2. Arranged to meet stranger I knew only from the internets in front of then 15 year old daughter, horrifying her due to years of stern internet safety lectures from her parents.
3. Bailed out of lunchtime partners' meeting to deal with "emergency," said emergency being the unexpected availability of Release Party passes at Virgin Megastore.
4. Saving hundreds of pictures of a certain baby rock star on my hard drive, thus requiring that I forbid husband from ever ever using my computer even when his is on the fritz.
5. Lying to husband about attending "womens' networking event" when actually attending Nokia NYC concert.
6. Lying to husband about an early conference call at work when actually attending early morning GMA concert in Central Park.
7. Spending more time surfing the internets for Cookie crumbs than 16 year old daughter, who now relies on me for all her DC info and media.

Blondie811 : BUT, why, why, why can't I have any RL friends who are as crazy about David as we are????!!!!
I ask myself that same question every day.... I keep telling myself they are out there. Tempted to walk into the mall one day and shout "David Cook" at top of my lungs and see who responds.....lol

Okay...no homework today, so I have time to play.
Seven Crazy Things!* (*that aren't actually crazy, just different from before. : P) No particular order...
1. Bought tickets to the Gratitewer three or four days before the show, after never having any real desire to go to a concert before, because I had. to. see. this. guy.
2. Subsequently talked my mom into three shows, one of which was out of state.
3. Sang in front of people.
4. Plastered some guy's face all over my wall like some teenybopper.
5. More than doubled the size of my iTunes library, which I've had since 8th grade.
6. Made me admit to myself that I *liked* somebody.
7. Inspired me to sell $200 worth of old video games that I was pack-ratting, and, instead of buying a new iPod for my broke-teenager self, donate it all to RFH. (See, not stupid things. They're good-crazy things.)
