Capture Youtube Concert Videos for itunes/ipods
This is a technical suggestion for everyone who loves when Jen or others provide MP3s made from videos of David's performances (or any videos on youtube - and a huge thanks to Jen and everyone else who takes the time do make MP3's and upload them to the file share servers for us).
There's an easy alternative that you can all do all by yourself, if you download the most up-to-date Real Player. You may have to pay for a basic subscription but it's pretty cheap. I'm not sure if the free download offers this.
Real Player lets you download music, videos, and all sorts of things from various players and websites with one click. It interfaces beautifully with youtube and hulu. When you drag your curser to the top of the video you get a small dialog box that asks if you want to download it. Real Player's recent update lets you download it to itunes. It's very easy. It will likely go to your documents/myvideos file instead of documents/mymusic... when you go to import it from itunes, look for it there. It will likely import to "movies" instead of "music videos."
Best of all, the way itunes works, is that on your ipod, all videos can be played in audio only... or you can just play the video and listen. No need to "make" a separate MP3... just download the video via Real Player, and have Real Player automatically convert it to itunes.
The video isn't very high resolution... works great on an ipod or iphone but on a large screen, not so much. But if it's the audio that you want most, then this is a great way to get it on your ipod.
