The Cascades flow between us a blog about two concerts.
Well I will begin by saying I am tired and very happy this Tuesday and am not sorry that I will miss Spokane because honestly I am exhausted after Yakima and Seattle. What great shows they were.
Yakima
I left early on Sunday and picked up my daughter and drove to Yakima. It was a beautiful drive but a long day. We arrived in Yakima and checked out the theater. There were only about 10 people sitting outside and waiting to get in. I called Pattieann and we met for dinner at the Olive Garden across the street from the theater. When done we crossed the street and got in line. We met several other DCOers in line and it was nice to talk about David with other super fans.
The theater was very nice, old with an overhanging balcony. We were 4th row Neal side and it was a good spot. Except the teenagers that were in front of us kept holding up a sign in our faces in hopes that David would read it. It was annoying because it completely blocked my view of the whole stage because it was a huge sign. I had asked them not to hold it up but they did not listen. That was the only downer. They did not hold it up all the time but a least 10 times at different points in the show. He finally read it near the end of the show and they put it down. A couple of snap shots of the show. A little girl brought David a rose which he noticed when he was playing guitar and he went over and took it from her in his teeth. At the end of the show he looked right over at her and mouthed "Thank you very much". He has a fan for life in that girl. She got a pic at the end and the stagehand gave me one at the same time as well. So I got a pic. David had someone throw up his CD and he caught it mid air which was funny and then he was going to throw it back to her and he said "this means we are married you know" and the women said "I have children" which cracked David up and he stepped back from the mic laughing saying "that is funniest thing I have heard all night". He told the mall story about "he thinks he is David Cook" which we all know but my daughter did not and thought it was really funny.
He introduced the band and told us the band name which was very special. I love the name.
The Crash Kings are very good. Very loud with a high energy to their set. I enjoyed them. The singer has a great rock wail.
Now the music. David invited the crowd into the experience from the moment he walked on stage. The songs were rocking, tight and he sounded great. Souvenir is better than when I heard it in AC, I love that song. Lie was beautiful. Declaration and LO also were standouts for me. Besides Souvenir we got WOHWWS and SA.
So great setlist.
About the band. Tight as ever and I think I am on the Neal bandwagon. His playing was off the charts and what can I say about those pants. Kyle smoked it. Andy sounded wonderful singing. He is getting better and better for me. Monty was joyful and smiled the whole time he was up there. He clearly loves being a part of this.
I waited at the buses first time I have ever done this. There were a lot of DCOers there but also a lot of casual fans. Very respectful quiet crowd. Folks talked to Neal when he was smoking but I did not. The band walked by but did not sign just waved and got on the bus. David came out and signed but was in a hurry and not feeling 100% he said. He worked the line very quickly. Got my CD booklet signed. He was very sweet and very handsome in person. But this boy does have a big noggin.
My daughter's assessment as a non cook fan. She had a good time. She loved Lie and Souvenir. (of course)
She loved his banter and thought he was a great performer. But she like the Crash Kings music better. But she talked about David a lot the next day driving home. HEHEHE
Seattle
Dropped off DD and picked up DS and off we went to Seattle. Beautiful day. Seattle was shining in the sun from the ferry and it was 75 degrees. Met up with my other son and leastlikely for dinner across the street from the Mariners stadium and saw David being interviewed on TV.
We again waited in line and saw pattieanne in line and other DCOers. The venue was much different. It looked sold out but you can not really tell because there is no place to sit everyone stands. The crowd consisted of a lot of teenagers more than Yakima but there were a lot there as well and twenty something women along with women above 30. Men were older by and large and my sons were some of the few twentysomething guys there.
The Crash kings were again good and I enjoyed their set a lot.
I will say this now my feet hurt the whole time and that is my only complaint for the evening. LOL
The crowd was on fire from the moment David hit the stage. A very loud crowd. The screams were deafening. We had a good spot about 8 rows back and we could see the whole stage. No signs. Except an Amazon drunk lady almost beat me down trying to push her was up to the front of the crowd. I kid you not. She had a even bigger drunk man behind her. Some guy in the crowd came up and told the man to knock it off and they stopped pushing. Thank God cause it scared the s*** out of me.
David was in full rock out mode and as with Yakima got the crowd into the concert from the moment he stepped on the stage. Standout for me were Lie, Souvenir (which he again teased about it being on an album the rat), Little Lies and IDIFY. His banter was good not as funny as Yakima but good. What can I say this concert was the best I have been to. I thought Yakima was the best and then they outdid themselves in Seattle. David commanded the stage. The band was featured more especially Neal. They were just great. I loved it and I am glad that Seattle showed them some love.
Now twentysomething sons thoughts. They both liked the concert. They liked David and the band. They did not prefer the Crash Kings like my daughter. So are they Cookiefied? No. But they enjoyed the concert thought that David and the band were good. And that is good enough for me.
Shout out to all the David fans I met at the concert. You guys rock.

Thanks for hanging with me in Yakima!
I love the title of your blog! LOL! I had a great time with you and your DD. The concerts really were awesome. The different venue types made a great contrast. Thanks for hanging out with me.

Loved Your Recap!
Thanks, sky. It's always fun to hear everyone's impressions of their shows.
My son came to my last show with me. I only got him to admit: 1. It wasn't boring.
and 2. He can understand what I like about David Cook. Not Cookified obviously,
but I'll take that.
