In case DwoP disappears again or I loose my memory:
Do you know how hard it is to go to sleep with a smile on your face? For the last two nights that has been my problem. No need to explain to most of you what it is like; you know. For those who have yet to experience DCaTA live, you may want to consider some muscle relaxers after you first concert before you try and go to sleep so your face muscles won’t keep you wake.
There was so much goodness that happened this weekend that I could probably write pages, but I won’t. There is something to be said about keeping these thing and pondering them in your heart. You’ve probably heard most of the highlights from the last two night anyway. Each show, G’boro and SC, had it’s own moments of epicness; very different venues- both special in their own way.
So I guess now after 5 shows (halfway to crazy town) I can play the concert ranking game that QueenJ started last week. Thank goodness this is DWoP where we can bring up subjects from ages past and not seem totally out of sync with the conversation. My rankings are from favorite to most favorite epicness that I ever encountered. (There no least favorite concert because it is David Cook we are talking about and even the misery of standing outside hours in the cold vanishes when that Voice first comes out of the speaker. It kind of like giving birth; you just don’t remember the mess/pain.)
Campbell - First time hearing the Voice: It slayed me. Couldn’t even look at the pretty. Heartwrenching Permanent. Learning I could go 7 hours without going to the bathroom and I wouldn’t die.
Cat’s Cradle - First time meeting DWoPers: no one had chainsaws. DD’s first David Cook experience and watching her face. So close to the pretty. Ryan accoustic with Breathe sing along.
SC State Fair (last night’s squee or should I say squeal with all the deep fired food) - Sound was awesome: I could hear Neal loud and clear (boy needs to sing more). My ear hurts a little from being right at the speakers, but the mix was so good where I was standing (second row Neal side), I could hear every nuance. Plus YO ARMS - flove. BF in leather that I had hugged the night before; need I say more. Oh and more DWoPers (waves at likethis, Rheena, Bumble and gatorgirl)
Musikfest - accoustic TWIK and ADAM. Dinner with wheeziev (I may have to adopt you and gatorgirl). Running around with Cathryn. VIP porta potties. Unexpected people grooving down on David’s music in their own way. Sharing kittycatlin66’s (linda I hope that’s your right screen name) birthday.
And the pinnacle, Greensboro - not for the sound, but for the experience. Meeting brinau, zoo, gatorgirl, cheryl and gail. Standing four feet from stage center (could see up Ryan’s nose), Amthemic Drum Corps, Happy Neal, Andy Make Me, grey S&B shirt for Ryan’s set, Dapper Dave for his set.
Now to the best part of G’boro: The whole Dave experience for me has never been about trying to meet him. It’s been mostly about the music in any form I can get it - preferably live, but I love the Youtubage and I even am fond of Underwater Dave if that’s all I can get. The other part of the experience has been squeeing over the pretty with you guys and me vbdccfs. I know I wallow in the shallow end...a lot...but that is part of the fun for me. Honestly, how can you help it if you have blood in your veins not to appreciate the beauty of that man? It is not my fault that his subtle, sultry smexiness hits me like a ton of bricks when he is on that stage.
I MET HIM/THEM. Never thought it would happen. Not only did we chat, got hugs and pictures. DD got hugs pictures. Talked for a long time with Neal; such a sweetie. Pics and time with Andy and Monty, too. Kyle is the only one we missed, but I had talked to him at Campbell. I’m still keeping most of it in my heart and pondering it, but I will say, they are the nicest bunch of down to earth guys. Love them all. The funny thing is that because of meeting them Friday night, it somewhat changed the concert experience Saturday - it felt more like I was watching my friends up there. (I know in reality they are not really my friends and wouldn’t know me from Eve if we ever met again, it just felt that way.)
Sorry this turned out to be a long-ass post, but mine are usually short so I’m just making up time. My face still hurts, but it’s all good.
