Close Encounters Of The David Kind
This weird thing happened about a year ago. I started to watch American Idol. Became a fan of this rocker dude with weird hair. I stated to watch every week. Download his AI music, preidol music, watch the you tube videos of the AI tour, go to a concert, join his website, buy his record multiple times, his music video, etc, etc. A college (oh no), none in the Northwest (ack), is planned. No worries I have family in Philly I will visit and go to the concerts. So that is what I did and my mountain of fandom continues to grow. Now let us get to the Close Encounters.
This is my first close encounter with David if you don't count American Idol Portland. I had seats right in the middle section, they were elevated so I had a complete view of the stage. Could I touch him? Did he look at me? Neither of those things happened that night. Not once did I feel he looked right at me. I did not hug him or shake his hand. I saw him across a theater on a stage and I did not need to "meet him" elsewhere because this is where he is supreme. The setlist was perfect and the band was phenomenal. This band played 14 songs in one hour and 15 minutes and did not miss a beat. So Close encounter #1 was over and I will say that some serious endorphins were released because I was stupidly happy for days.(I wrote another blog about this Encounter and it is on my profile)
Close encounter # 2. Well York was much different than AC. I still had great seats in the balcony, second row, in the middle so again a fantastic view of the whole stage. Well he still did not look at me through the whole concert and I did not meet him but this time I was tempted to wait at the busses where 100 people or so were lined up. I almost did. But then didn't but I was drawn to that line for the first time. Back to the concert. I thought the acoustics in this theater were better than AC. The crowd was a little more layed back, my kind of peeps. All ages from 5 to 90. Ryan dropped the Fbomb and apologized profusely poor guy. The set list was different this time and the vibe was different. He did not start out slow he started with Heroes and it was one rocking song after another until TWIK in the middle. Then the rest of the set was all rocking. He was engaging but not a lot of banter. The band again was f***ing fantastic. The show was shorter by two songs but I did not feel cheated. I love this band. I don't think they can put on a bad show. Again the endorphins were pumping after the show and I awoke this morning to my new cheery self. I really loved this venue because of the acoustics where I was sitting. The crowd really loved David but I was in the balcony and folks up there did not want to stand so I was asked to sit down and did. They did stand when David asked them to but sat back down for the next song. What are you going to do? Great show again and Close Encounter # 2 was a success.
I would like to say that I meet some of the greatest people in both places and they are smart and funny and it was nice to meet folks who share my passion for David and this band. Thanks to all you guys for making my two concerts some of the best I have ever been too. I mean that I am thinking that David and his band are destined for greatness.

i agree with margmom
we do need to find a way to bottle it. i too was stupidly happy after my concert for like a week and then it was gone and i wish i couldve bottled some of it to use for days like yesterday.

Breaking stereotypical barriers one concert at a time
"Stupidly happy"...I like that!
Great recap... it's just too bad you can't bottle the happiness after you leave the concert! I attended the Bloomsburg concert and was in a very "happy place" for days!
Sky Queen
Sky - I was there last night and I'm sorry it didn't work out for us to meet. It was a very rockin' concert. I'm glad you woke up happy.
