Hey Guys,
I wanted to drop a note and answer a few emails that I’ve been getting! I can’t thank you guys enough for all the sign-ups and emails pertaining to the website. And thanks to everyone who came out on the tour. As you know, the AI tour has ended and although it was sad to sing together for the last time in Tulsa, we had a blast all summer.....
The new album is coming along great! I can say that, because I’m in the studio typing this, as we speak. Well as I speak. You’re reading. You guys are going to be the first to know the name of the first single AND what the album cover is going to look like. Make sure to sign up to get in on that if you’re interested in being the first to know.
I love the new site and hope you do too...it’s just the beginning and we’re still working out some kinks here and there. I know a few people had some password issues and that’s all been fixed we think. The web nerds (get it?) helping me out apologize for the inconvenience. So much more coming for the site too....like a points system, listening parties, maybe even a few other secret things that I’ll be able to talk about soon.
I also wanted to grab a few emails and respond to them because I really appreciate you emailing me. I do read email, but obviously can’t respond to all of them...so I’ll pick out a few to blog about from time to time. Below are this week’s picks!

As an high school English teacher, I work with words daily. I have a
sheet of paper posted to the wall where I list the words of the week,
with the heading "Be A Word Nerd!" Each day I give the students a word
to chew on, and I have wondered what word you think is the best in the
English language. It is a challenge, because some minute words carry a
lot of weight. We are tempted to choose larger words that somehow
suggest our own intelligence, but I think you would take the time to
really mull this over.

Feedback for the site, and another poem for you.
1st, wow! Love the new site, it's awesome! So much to do, it's hard to take it all in! lol One suggestion I have is for the listing of members/fans. Most of us know each other, or have heard of each other through various sites. If there was a way to look through the names in alphabetical order that would be a huge help! I know there is a search bar, but some of the names are so similar, it's easy to confuse them with someone else. This way we could look at the profile quickly to determine if it's someone we know! =o)
2nd, I miss the tour being over because we got our 'daily dose of David' and a side of Mavid! Now it's gone, and it's sad! I know great things are coming in the near future though, and I cling to that! Anyway, I wrote this with those very emotions in mind.

Cookie's CD is amazing and everyone better get it or buy it for someone for XMAS. It is the best gift you can get! I don't have a whole lot of joy in my life these days....but Mr. Cook brings joy to my life. I am awaiting spinal surgery in January and listening to that VOICE makes me smile. I listen to it in my car coming and going to work....I cannot get the songs out of my head! I LOVE YOU DAVID...COME TO SACRAMENTO before my surgery!!!!

I got the opportunity to see the Idols on tour in DC in July, and I have to say that after seeing David's performance, there is no doubt whatsoever about the correct winner being chose. I never watched Idol before, and for some reason watched it this season. what a treat to watch David as he changed from week to week, getting better all the time. his performance onstage was always a delight to watch, and that concert was fantastic. he is an entertainer, he brought presence to the stage along with his gifted vocal abilities, and we all left the Verizon Center saying 'wow!'.
David, we wish you the best that life has to offer, good health, a healthy family, happiness, and continued success. we'll be watching you with great interest in the future - God bless you.

It may sound corny, but...you light up our lives!
My adult children showed me how to vote on AI 2007 and I voted once. Maybe twice. Then I heard your voice and listened to your passionate renditions of songs that I never really listened to before - BillyJean is one of these. (I never listened to the MJackson lyrics! I always danced to it instead., concetrating on the beat.).
When the AI final was being decided, I must have voted for you about 100 times that night! "Diligence" is your word and digligence it is that helped you win American Idol...Now I even learned to download your music. My motivation? Your AI songs were online for a short period of time and I HAD TO LEARN before they would be gone.Such stress for us older students of the world!
So now I listen to you on my new IPOD as I walk with my adopted greyhounds for 2 miles each day. Between the fast pace and your music, I am energized upon my return to my home and online business and ready to meet the day.
Mostly, David, I want to remark on your uncanny rise to the spotlight.The "fate" of it all.... It is as if it were meant for you. Could it be that this is your vocation? A Calling for some reason? Have you had a chance to think about that?
I am a former teacher and I believe that everyone has the ability to impact the world and help improve it to some degree. Summer of "08
The summer of "69 by Bryan Adams has always been one of my favorite songs and now when I hear it it reminds me of this past summer with you and all my new found word nerds friends I have had the pleasure of meeting. This summer was the coolest thing that has happened to me in a long time. I was at Lexington but was at the other end of the barricades where you didnt get to but I am so thankful now that is where I ended up because I met a friend there just out of coincidence from d-c.org and she and I have become extremely close and thus traveled to Evansville together to have the chance to see the concert again and meet you. Well, we did and might I say you made the disappointing time at the buses at Lexington well worth it. You were great that day and night on stage. I had the sign about the Billie Jean Backbend outside at the buses and then a new one for the concert. When you saw it and shook your finger at me, well, you didnt even need to do the backbend after that. But you did and again I say thank you. But you didnt leave it there, you just had to come back to the front of the stage and wink at me, man, you know how to get to us dont you!! Ok enough said about that.
Light On is truly a great song that I believe will be a hit and you so deserve it. You have worked so hard to get where you are and we are all truly happy for you. I hope you are getting some time to kick back and soak all of this up and enjoy it but I have a strange feeling that you are not. Im sure youre working hard to make this album the best it can be and we appreciate that but dont forget to take time for yourself. You are what matters most. We want you healthy and happy and being true to yourself. Not someone molded by fame who is a pretender. I dont see that in you.
I pray your family is doing well and Adam is growing stronger and holding his own, I was a hospice nurse and I know all to well the effects cancer can have on the person and the families. So hang in there and know that you are all in my prayers for health, happiness, peace and safety.

I read this phrase "definition of the situation" in one of the thousands of books I read and I wonder, when would be a situation for you that you feel defined you as a person? as an artist?

I keep reflecting back on all the things that happened to put you as the American Idol and the things that have happened since.
1. The song that was picked for you to record has a history of its own and the fact it made it back to be played on TV at the Olympics has actually gained the publicity to fund research for a little girl's birth defect.
2. All over the world there is money for cancer research being raised in your name.
3. Do you realize that there is a push for anyone downloading Analog Heart to make a donation to fight cancer.
4. You have conducted yourself in a manner that makes everybody that voted for you proud.
5. Your music and lyrics have touched thousands.

David I was very impressed that you took every song ( on AI ) and made it your own. I have written a song myself that I wanted to enter into the AI contest but after reading all the rules ,how it had to be for people of all ages , and how they got to keep your song ( which I am not willing to just let anyone have) I couldn`t send it. I sure wish you could read it or hear it I think you would make it a number one hit and it is perfect for your voice. My son is an excellent drummer and that is one of his dreams to play music , I hope he keeps pushing on like you. He is 19 and life is just beginning for him. I encourage him like I am sure your mother kept doing to you to follow your dreams. By the way what is your brother doing now since he wasn`t in AI? I have watched American Idol for years, and I have to admit, I have never voted until this season. I was so pissed that Simon basically declared Little David the winner, so I actually voted for you.....3 times! I think it was those 3 votes that put you over the top.
I hope you are enjoying your success. I googled some old music of yours before AI and everyone knew your name. It rocked. I hope you are able to stay true to yourself with this album. I am really looking forward to it. My husband is currently in Afghanistan fighting the war, so this is a rough time for me and my kids. There is something about your voice......I don't know, but it brings me comfort. When I need to just put on my headphones and tune the world out I enjoy listening to you sing. So I am ready for some new David Cook songs to add to my MP3.
Keep your soul in your songs, and don't let the music "machine" make you sell out! You are a true original.....don't let them change you.

I wish I had the opportunity to meet you prior to American Idol! My husband has been a Tulsa musician for 30 years and I am sooo excited you have realized your dream! I met him in Panama City Beach FL while he was touring with a band back in 89. I was also from Missouri and moved to Tulsa to be with him. I also bartended in Tulsa until we decided to have a family and one of us had to get "a real job" to suppot us while he pursued his passion as you did! I am very proud as a Tulsan that you even mentioned that you lived here on AI! As you probably know, Oklahoma pumps out alot of talent! My husband and I went to see you at the BOK center and it brought tears to his eyes. We wish you the best of life and success! We can't wait to see you back in T-Town soon! Congratulations David!

We all voted like mad for you on AI, nearly wetting our britches when Ryan announced that you had won. You could have heard us screaming for joy from one end of the county to the other.
