PART III AT THE BUSES IN FARGO
by gcelq

At the buses after the show, it was terribly cold outside but people are just happy to wait for the band. One of the crew gave us a copy of their schedule (coz I thought it was their setlist) and we saw that they will be leaving early that night. We didn’t keep our hopes up coz there were only a few minutes left before they leave. We saw Neal and Andy get into the bus so right then we knew they were leaving shortly. But lo and behold, David went out to meet his fans. We knew he would be quick because there were only 5 minutes left before the buses leave for MT.

Well we didn’t fly 16 hours not prepared, we have printed 8x10 pictures of David and the band which we were hoping he would sign. Jen uploaded a video of that encounter here. When David turned to me, I told him we were the ones from Manila then I showed him a pic that I printed out from our Cookista thread about BarBaSol. He stepped back a little and said it was amazing and signed this:

He also signed the pic we printed out of him during his concert here in Manila. He liked the pic and asked if did we want him to sign it or are we giving it to him. We hesitated and he was laughing and just said he would sign everything so we would have it. We also have this pic of him wearing the white (a.k.a. S & B) shirt, he took the pic and showed it to a staff we said he looked good in it and he should keep it, but he said he lost it, didn’t know what happened to it which was just sad Sad Oh and he signed the copy of their schedule too:

But wait there’s more! He was holding one of the signed merchandise given at the pre party which was a photo album with his signed pic on the cover. We were not at the barricades anymore, and the fans were asking him to whom was he going to give it to, and he goes like “I think I’m gonna give it to those guys who flew miles to get here” or something like that, I didn’t remember much coz if you see David calling out to you, reaching over the barricades, smiling, you’re mind will be on hyper-drive.

        And lastly, remember this?

We asked him if he liked the guitar, he said he did and it was hanging on his wall in his home in LA Laughing out loud

He stayed with his fans for a long time, doing double, triple passes of the line. I remember I saw a car with the words written on the glass “Honk if you love David Cook” Sticking out tongue It was great to see that there were a couple of guys who also took pictures with him. During the 2nd pass, he was already giving hugs and having pictures taken again and again with the fans. He was so gracious that time hanging out with the fans, having a real conversation with them that we didn’t notice they were 30 mins behind schedule coz everybody’s having a great time. I don’t think he would’ve gotten in the bus until the staff made him to.

It was sad that I didn’t get to meet Neal and Andy(I met Kyle and Monty back in Mitchell), apparently they were eating “chicken brutal soup” that time, and their pics are still unsigned. I do hope that means, I would be seeing David and The Anthemic again someday.

I hope Dave got to sample the guitar already. I like imagining him playing it and singing The Truth. *siiiiigh* The thought of it hanging on the wall in his home is making me tear up again (and I had just come from reading Part 2 of your blog, where I said I was tearing up, tsk tsk...)

As I said before, you make us proud, G! We're still all so elated about this experience you had. Thanks so much for sharing it with us.

ETA.

Memories *sigh* I find myself looking again at the pictures of Dave receiving the guitar (they're here: http://cookistachronicles.blogspot.com/ ). Smiling
