Happy (Belated) Thanksgiving!

I ran out of space in my horn of plenty….
I am writing this blog from about 35000 feet in the air as I travel back to LA, concluding my trip to Kansas City for Thanksgiving. Just to help paint a picture for you….
First off, let me give everyone a sorely belated Happy Thanksgiving. I spent my break with family and a chest cold, and before you give me the, “awwww, that’s terrible….” (This phrase should be in reference to the chest cold, not my family), it was a blessing in disguise, as it kept me home, resting, as opposed to going out with friends every night to try to catch up, which would’ve been the exact opposite of resting. I truly enjoyed my holiday, and suffice to say, I have MORE than enough to be thankful for this year, every single one of you included.
Thank you for going on this journey with me. Thank you for the bloated phone bills, and the tired morning-afters because you stayed up all night contributing to said bloated phone bill. Thank you for braving the elements and each other (ha) all summer trying to show your appreciation to all of us this summer on the tour. We noticed. Thank you for supporting all of us after the tour, by going out and buying, requesting, and promoting our various projects and endeavors, no matter how big or small they may be. Thank you for donating your time and resources to causes we all believe in. Thank you for standing in lines just for the chance to say hello and offer a compliment. Thank you for enjoying the donuts. Thank you for the letters. The pictures. The flowers. The books. The crossword puzzles. The Oar. The Stuffed Animals. The… ahem… anchored undergarments. The signs. The cheers. The jeers. The adamant defenses and the reasons for them. The karaokes that made the internet rounds (best pantomime drummer EVER), The crowds, the lights, the sounds, the vibes, the memories. And last but not least, the Beginning and THE END.

i would love to go on a tour! i probably wont get a lot of chances to go to any tours with you in it though considering i live in mississippi. nothing ever happens there. no one goes on tour here-at least no one important.

I hope you are feeling better and I am so glad you were able to get some rest while you were home for Thanksgiving. We live close to your Mom and were driving by on our way home from the store the day after Thanksgiving and we saw you outside with Andrew. My son was mad that I didn't stop to give you a "hey" but you need time with your family and I didn't want you to think we were stalkers...LOL
You continue to be my escape when I need to get in a different world than the one I am in sometimes. Don't get me wrong, I love everyone around me,but, once in a while, I just need to escape and your music, your voice allows me to do that. I bought your CD at Midnight at WalMart and we have played it over and over. I love it all. Take care and if I see you out and about during Christmas Holiday, I will stop and give you a "hey" this time. Hey David, Happy birthday! Congratulations to a fellow Sagittarian...mine was the 15th, I'm part of the 4% in the world...a Lefty like you. My first guitar teacher told my mom to turn the guitar to "righty" as left-handed guitars are more expensive. A few years are spread between us, though... 30 to be exact, 1952 was a good year for me...and my mom, I guess.
Anyway, I thought I'd send a shoutout to you as I am completely "into" your sound. I think Analog Heart is an incredible album and I'm afraid I've just about worn out Light On in my car during my 90 minute commute to the office twice a day. My wife and kids (really not kids...3 boys 24, 21 and 18 and 1 girl, 16) really joke about my fascination with your music (some of the comments are "joyous"...aka...Gay) but I just tell them they don't know what they're missing. By day, I'm an insurance executive, and by night a music aficianado/musician. I'm a guitarist/singer but my performing days ended in the 70's. I played lead guitar and backup singer in a rock band during my college years covering Chicago, BS & T, Lighthouse, Ides of March, etc. Big band, 9 pieces, and we called ourselves, get this....Leviathan! Kind of "catchy" and...grammatically correct. We were together 5 years and had a 10 year reunion party/performance after our breakup. It was very different as we then had our own families attending. I'm more of a listener now than player.
Had to let you know, this was the first year I ever called into AI to vote. As each week you progressed, I recognized your talent and had to ensure more people listened to your music. My wife calls me your unofficial PR manager as I sent Light On to our local radio station, WSUS, in early October (found it on the internet) and they began playing it immediately. I play Analog Heart whenever I have a passenger in the car and I created a CD from all of your itunes performances and distributed copies as gifts to numerous friends. I hope you don't mind, I'm not trying to make $$$ off of your music, I just feel your music needs to get out. I probably could go on for some time, but since this is my first foray, I should probably stop now.
I attended your tour in Newark on July 31st and loved it. I'm not sure I loved the eyeliner/mascara, but I understand, especially since your features are not dark. Having been on stage (a long, long time ago) our manager would suggest "improvements" to enhance our stage presence.

David.....I am addicted! You are so talented and I just can't get enough. The CD is awesome! Love Avalanche!!!!! and Permanent, oh my god, I cried so hard the first time I heard it. I have had it pretty rough over the last few years with a very bad divorce, and both my parents battling cancer and any other illness they could get their hands on. Without sounding obsessed, seriously watching you on idol, seeing the concert in Baltimore, and the CD, checking out tv and the net for ya, you are what's been keeping me going. I can't thank you enough! You rock! Can't wait to see you again!

I hope you get to enjoy your day tomorrow. I have come to realize something recently. It hit me like a ton of bricks the other night as I was listening to your new CD(which is awesome!) Before I say this I must acknowledge how huge this is! I hope you read this David, because I really want you to know this!!!!! You are so incredibly talented, I can't explain the way you make me feel when I hear your beautiful voice. Ok, the huge statement that I am building up to is........ YOU ARE MY ELVIS. Our generation didn't get to appreciate fully the live performances and the energy and just awesomeness???(is that a word) I dunno, but you know what I mean. I have never in my 36 years been so blown away at one person's talent the way you have just knocked me out! I am sure it doesn't hurt that you are just adorable and real. I will be forever a fan! Thank you so much for sharing yourself with the world, we are so lucky to have the opportunity to hear your beautiful voice.
