In the Smoke and the Heat
I just uploaded some of the pictures I took at the Sacramento AI concert on July 9 and thought I'd write something about it.
It was 108 degrees in Sac that day and there was thick smoke in the air from all the wildfires burning in the area at that time. I arrived early (after driving 3 hours to get there) to wait for the buses and my chance to meet David. The buses were late and we waited, and sweated, for HOURS in the heat and smoke (cause we're hardcore like that). It was misserable, and I'd do it all over again! They finally arrived and David spent lots of time visiting with fans, signing autographs, and taking pictures. He was so gracious and courteous. I "met" him (if you can call a 1 minute encounter meeting someone) and got my picture with him and autograph. I had all these things in my mind that I wanted to say, but I must confess I was a little star struck and my brain went numb. I blame it on the heat.
The concert that night was so amazing. All the idols were entertaining, but David's set was was just like being at a rock concert! He rocked so hard. I melted when he sang Hello, I think I drove everyone around me crazy because I was so excited! My Hero was my favorite song of his set, just because I felt like he put so much heart into it... he put heart into it all, but that one was just so powerful. I didn't want the night to end.
I laid awake in my hotel room that night trying to replay in my mind the events of the day, afraid I would forget something, trying to commit every detail to memory. It all seems so long ago now. *sigh* Now I'm ready for the solo tour!
