Okay, I think this is my first blog entry in the year 2009!

As today is my day off from work, it gave me plethora of time to sort things out, like priorities and friendships made by far. On top of that, for someone who resolved never to make New Year resolutions ever again, I went back on my word and made one. Again. This time, it is to meet David Cook up close and personal. This, I believe, would be the one New Year resolution that I will be able to fulfill. LOL. =P

As per mentioned earlier, I finally got to reply back to an email which came to me last week, in the year 2008. Sure, it does hurt, but it's done for the greater good of the future. I too managed to draw up a list and canceled a series of names of former friends who I will not be sending gifts or greeting cards ever again. Finally, I can save money from sending stuff to those people who have been awfully trite. I've tolerated them long enough and I shall not see or hear from them ever again (and neither will they see me ever again). But more importantly, I've resolved to sever all contacts with them. They asked for it, and all I'm doing is doing them that favor, including a former friend who removed me from her Facebook friend list. Initially, I was hurt, but I got over it, knowing that our friendship was long long over.

In a nutshell, the line has clearly been drawn. May we never meet ever again - I know I won't be missed either.

Gone are the old friends-turned-foes, and coming into my life are newfound friends, especially those whom I've made in the Dash and here in DCO. You guys are what make my future, and I certainly hope to be able to meet a few of you when I come over to the USA sometime this year. That is, if everything goes well for me.

And if all goes well, I may come back to the US again later this year to celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas. I'll be holding my breath for this one! *winks*

Heh. Better late than never! Oops, I responded late too! LOL.

Well, I'm probably the only member here in DCO to actually have a signature banner featuring David wearing the God of Fortune headgear (I would think that if the God of Fortune ever were to look like David, bliss and wealth would be upon us! LOL). Indeed 2009 is his year to 'fa'!

And yes, I celebrate Lunar New Year. In fact, I'm so looking forward to it! =) If I were to make a Lunar New Year resolution, it would still be meeting David Cook in person!

With that, I wish you and all the Chinese DC fans Gong Xi Fa Cai!! =)

a little late here. right, some friends just can't last and only belong to a certain stage of our lives, sad but true. wish your new year resolution come true! to meet David is the resolution of my whole life, lol. good luck with it! must be great!

btw, I was thrilled when I saw your signature on another thread! I mean, I've never expected to see those Chinese characters here on DCO, those are usually the words on the door of the houses here during the lunar new year...and David in that cool ftw hat?! totally rules! and it was really his "Fa" year, wasn't it? so do you guys also celebrate Chinese lunar new year? that would be awesome! I'm getting on the train soon to go home and celebrate the biggest day, so exciting! and you can make a second resolution since the lunar new year is in just a week! that's definitely not cheating, lol. cheers!

Hey Coolshades! It's nice to hear from you again!

No worries - I'm fine, now that I've severed ties with fairweather friends. Some things aren't meant to be anyway, so why should I force myself to commit myself to those who don't regard me as a friend?

And yeah, I really hope I can hop over to the USA to catch DC+EEB!! =D

**side-track: I'm actually listening to THH's Fairweather Friend right about now! LOL.

Sorry you've had to sever all those contacts. Friendship is fleeting it seems. You can have what seems to be great friendship with people, and then suddenly things go foul. It's unfortunate, but it happens. I guess that's why they say you're lucky if you can count the number of friends you have on one hand. True friendship is hard to find.

I hope you're able to come to the USA this year! Smiling

Hey there Seth,

Read your first blog for 2009!

I totally understand where you are coming from....the part about friendship turning into something sour!
It is true that friendships come and go....and the ones that stay on forever are those true & unconditional friendships. My wish for you for this new year is for you to find great friendships and of course...for your new year reso to happen. Going to US is in your pipeline plans.....I'm sure you'll have the chance of meeting up close and personal with David.

I know for sure that I can't make it to the States this year because of a lot of other commitments, mainly work and going to Australia to settle my PR (if my application becomes a done deal). Of course I'm still hoping that David will make a trip to S.E.A.....it will really be like heaven for me to see the real him. If that doesn't happen....hopefully, you'll get the chance to meet him and you can represent ALL of us here & letting him know that he's got amazing support here in Asia Smiling

I am also one to be very grateful to have known you all from The Dash and DCO. Be it in-person or just on the web, from crazy fans to forging of friendships, David has given us so much to saviour in 2008.

take care....and here's to a great year that is 2009.

cheers/

Hey bro!! Thanks for popping by here! =)

Thanks for the sage advice - that certainly helped me to pick up the pieces and move on.

4 years - that's really long! But as long as you hold on to the faith that you will meet him, you certainly will. For that, I sincerely wish you the best of luck. And no worries - I believe you will also get to meet David one day.

Friends come and go, but you will always be my best friend, a BFF to me.

Yes bro, it's time for all of us to move on. New year new beginnings. You know, friends come and go. It can take years to build a friendship, but sadly it can be destroyed easily if the friendship is not strong. It has happened to me also. Bottom line is, if you don't feel comfortable or happy anymore, just move on and let go. Only then, can you find happiness and peace.

As much as I'd love to see David, 2009 won't be possible because of studies. Shucks. But I'm hoping I at least get to see A.C. when I go over to Adelaide for my graduation Jan 2010. That I had been hoping for 4 years already hahaa! Wish me luck on that.

Anyway, just remember I'm always a facebook/phone call away ya. No matter where you might be, I'm still your friend. Smiling

Cheers,
Ant
