Knoxville Tn Square Room Recap

Average: 5 (1 vote)

Just got up (it is 5pm here!) and decided to come on and give a recap of last nights experience. It was simply amazing and I am sure I will leave something out but here goes. Oh BTW, it was my daughters 10th birthday yesterday and honestly the only thing she wanted was to see DC in concert so the sign was on lie! LOL

I got there around around 7:30am and it was pouring the rain but was with some of the greatest Cook fans in the world so who cares about the rain. We just put on the ponchos and popped up the umbreallas and made the best of it by laughing and having a blast. Honestly who cares, right!? We were waiting to see one of the greatest performers that I have ever seen so what is a little rain.

So we waitied in line all day. Taking breaks where need be for the restrooms, food, sometimes just needing to walk around and get some movement for the body. And then come back to line to waite some more. The Square Room did bring us out cookies which, BTW were awesome. And let me add for the record, that everyone was fantastic to the others in line that day, there were no major problems with each other and for the most part we all got along great. I was worried at one point as to how the day would turn out but people put differences beside them and I think realized that we were all there for the same purpose and that was to see Mr Cook and the EEB. I really did have a pleasurable time with everyone and I am so thankful for it!

My husband brought my 10 year old daughter down to me later in the afternoon. We had a mini birthday celebration for her in the line (bday was the same day as the epic knoxville stop). We had cupcakes in line and everyone sang happy birthday to her. It was wonderful and truly something she will never forget. Everyone was sooooooo nice to her. There are a couple who stand out in my mind but I wont name any names but I think you know who you are. You took her under your wings and went out of your way for her, whether making sure she was up front, making sure she got a pick, making sure she got recognized, making sure she was where she needed to be in line and just helping to make this a day she will never forget!!! Thank you all so much for all of it! She is still talking about how nice everyone was to her. You do something nice for my baby and you have a permanent place in my heart. That meant alot to me!

So, the weather starts turning bad and I am thinking what am I going to do? My hubby has my daughter in the truck with him in the parking garage so she wasnt out in it. Then the Square Room comes over and says they are going to take us in early (we had already asked them if there was a way they could do this or another plan but they had said no and that we would just have to waite out in it or go seek shelter and loose our place in line, which I was not about to do btw). So we gather up our stuff and hubby sends daughter over and we all rush into the basement of the SR. We had to line the hall single file. Not everyone could fit inside so in order to give the others shelter they were put in another venue. We are all so thankful for this, and I have to add that I dont think this was all the doings of the SR. Another person and I had alreadys asked the room twice if they could come up with a plan and we were told no both times. So I think maybe that they had a little help convincing them that someones fans did not need to be out in the weather. I may be way off here but it seems like something that a person might take care of for his fans. Who knows! Atleast we were all dry and safe. While in the basement another round of the awesome cookies came our way again and also water (for purchase). We got to hear soundcheck and sat there amusing ourselves and then we got more great news... they decided to go ahead and let us in the room early!!! woooohoooo!!!! So we got in the room and then had to stand and waite for several hours. It was an awesome experience and the Square Room went out of their way to make this unbelievable for everyone. I am from knoxville/the area and I know how great the people here are and I was SO happy that people from all over the world were able to see how great that us Tennessee folk can be,.Dave himself was even impressed at how nice everyone was.

So we are in the Room waiting on the show to start. Another DC gal who was front row turns around and hands my daugher a DC pick that she finds laying on stage. Can this night get any better!!!!! So then Ryan comes on for his set and blows us all away with his acousitc set and is simply amazing. He then does his songs where he brings and audience member on stage to help him play. And just who does he pick.......MY DAUGHTER!!!!! OMG!!!! So she gets up there and he tells her he has never saw that much birthday on one person. She has on a birthday crown, birthday girl banner, and light up birthday princess pin!!!!! So she gets to play during his show. She also got to meet him after the show and hug him and told him thank you . He told her that she was a beautiful girl and that he hoped she had the best birthday ever! He is such an awesome guy! I was very very impressed by him!

So now it is time for Mr Cook to come on! I am not sure exactly what to say about him . His voice was amazing and he seemed very very happy! He said he was blown away by how nice everyone was in knoxville and here at the square room. The set as you all have read was great. I was happy myself that I got to here Souviner and WOHWWS. He read my daughters sign that said "I am 10 today and all I wanted was to meet David Cook and the EEB". That is when he asked what the "EEB" stood for, he said he knew it was for them (and pointed at the band) but what did it stand for? He knew exactly what it stood for and was just giving them a hard time. That much I am sure of!!!! His banter was great from reading the signs (OH my other one said Cookiemomtenns bucket list, The Truth and Silver.....didnt get to hear either but atleast he read the sign. LOL LOL LOL) to talking about his drinks and so on. I got a vibe of thankfulness from him. Not exactly sure why but it was all great!!!! there were alot of guys in the audience at this show which I thought was fantastic. We seem to be getting alot more male fans in on all of this as we go along. That is great and is going to be one of the keys in all of this lasting for a very long time. The female fans are always going to out number the males by a great ratio but the males are going to play a very important role in all of this craziness!!!!! I know I am leaving something out of this recap during the show.
I did take video but I am not sure how it is going to turn out. Have not even watched it yet. Not sure I am going to have time with it being Easter this weekend. I do see that there are others that are turning up already so that is great!!

We did go out to the bus after the show but then saw a car back down the alleyway that appeared to be going to pick up the guys. I had heard that they were staying the night in Knoxville again before leaving for Memphis. So once we saw this we decided to call it a night. I was exhaused and the wind was picking up and getting very cool.

It was a night that I will never forget and I know that my ten year old daughter wont either. Thank you to all of you who had a hand in helping make this first double d birthday one of the best ever for her . And thanks to Ryan Star (who still isnt following me on twitter LOL) for bringing her on stage and letting her have her minute of fame as she called it!!!!!! And thank you to DC for putting on a show that was right up there with Evansville to me!!! and that is going to be hard to ever compare with IMHO!!!!! It was a night of memories that will last a lifetime.................................
