My Evansville,IN concert experience
This is the recap that I gave of Evansville over at David-Cook.org. I had gone with my friend Marty and she and I had a great time.......
Hello to all!!!! I am still on cloud nine so forgive me if this doesnt make any sense!!!! To begin let me say that I prayed that the stars would be aligned for me and Marty on this day and they were and I have never had an experience like this.
I can not explain everything at this moment so it may come in bits and pieces thru this thread but I wanted to hit what was the highlight for me at Evansville. I just got home and wanted to post this real quick so I could go see my family as Ive been gone for two days.
I had made a sign for outside at the barricades that said "God bless the USA, Cook and Backbend" and I put a great pic of him doing the BJ Backbend on it. It was sone in red white and blue and we hung it beside the huge flag that Marty brought to honor the day. So when he got to us he talked and signed my things and took two great pics with me and I asked him if he would also sign the poster. I wanted to make sure he read it! So he stood back and let me see what this says. He read it out loud and laughed and got a kick out of it. Then he said "I hate to disappoint you but I dont think the backbend will be making an apperance in Evansville cause Im really sore". I said "aw come on you can do it"! He laughed real big and said "well, we'll see. I'll make the call on stage". So during Billie Jean I held up another sign that I had made especially for it. I was on red poster board with black letters and said "billie jean backbend for evansville". He read it while singing and shook his head and finger at me with the "naughty look"!!!! So i just grinned real big and gave him sad puppy dog eyes. Then the time came for the guitar solo and he turned around and walked back to the steps and instantly dropped to his knees and did the backbend of all backbends. I just about died!!! Seriously I think it is one of the most incredibe things I have ever saw. It took my breath away! I was thrilled. But to top all that off it was when he came back to the mike that sent me to cloud nine. He looked right at me and winked real big and I said thank you and blew a kiss and he grinned. Im telling you guys someone took a ruler and lined the stars up for me last night above Evansville Indiana!!!!
And then to have a Mavid like we did in the center stage....it was incredible!!!!(BTW Marty and I had wonderful seats row 4 right in front of the catwalk )
Oh, I almost forgot the other sign. Marty and I wanted to come up with something clever for a sign because he made a comment during a banter at one of the concerts that he loved this tour and seeing all of the great signs that people made. So we wanted something to catch his attention. (the billie jean backbend one sure did thank goodness) So marty suggested taking part of what he said in the "Thank You section of the tour book". He said "thanks to Grover Cleveland for the 'stasche ". So we did a sign that said "WE LOVE GROVERS STACHE TOO AND GRANTS BEARD!!!!!". It was a random thing in his thank you section but it was SO David. And we knew that even if no one else got it, he would. I held it up during him singing IDWTMAT and he looked at it and looked away then looked right back and read it while singing and got a kick out of it and shook his head(i think) and laughed/smiled at me. It was great!!!
I know there are things that I am leaving out but from meeting him, talking to him, and getting the backbend with a wink..... I just dont know how much better the night could have went.
Marty and I had a two hr drive back home(well for Marty, I stayed at a hotel in her hometown since i live in tennessee) and we laughed like teenagers all the way back. We had such a great time all thanks to Cook and I will never forget this day. This man has had such a huge impact on my life and I tried to convey this in the letter I gave him yesterday. I have rheumatoid Arthritis and have had a rough couple of years but this last year while we have been on this ride with DC has been a year of healing for me. I can not believe the difference in my health. I dont even feel like the same person. Im not going to get into all of that but just know he has changed me for the better and last night was the icing on the cake. I will never be the same!
God bless...cookiemom tenn/Melissa

Awesome!
Hi Melissa! It's nice to meet you too and I loved your blog. You had such an amazing experience with DC; that's awesome! I'm sorry to hear about your struggle with RA. I am aware of the affects it can have on those suffering from it, not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually. And it affects your loved ones too. I hope you continue to feel better and better each day. Take care of yourself Melissa and I will talk to you again soon!

Wow
What an awesome experience!! He has this way of personalizing every show so that each person feels like they were the only one in the room. That is the effect he has!
I went to the Dallas show. Although we were a lot farther back than 4th row, it still felt the same way. Right before he sang IDWTMAT, he read a sign in the audience. It said "Paging Ms Robinson". Now, it wasn't my sign, but, my last name is Robinson and it freaked me out that he said my name! OK - I'm a little old for freaking out like that, but I did and it was great! Really, everything about David makes me freak out these days!
