My First Experience On seeing David's Solo Tour: AZ State Fair 11-3-09
As some of you know this was my first concert on David’s solo tour. There are many words I could use to describe the concert but the one word that has remained in my mind since the ending note on ADAM was “incredible.”
Mr. Sensitive was always on “the slow burner” for me and I would skip over it on the CD. After hearing it last night I have a new appreciation for it. David’s voice, to me sounded very pure and clear. I agree, it was a great opening song.
Lie goes without saying, but this was my first time hearing it live so it was exquisite. I have to admit after seeing the videos when David motions the crowd to be quiet when he sings his acapella part I was a little nervous hoping the crowd would respect his wishes in AZ. I was so happy that was the case! Everyone in the entire audience was quiet which made it all the more poignant.
I Did It For You has always been my favorite on the record. I first heard the “new version” in the summertime on this tour and I was blown away. Last night was no exception. I felt exhilarated when David came to my side (Neal’s side- 10 feet from the floor- same height as the stage) and I screamed “Oh My God!” Mind you, my husband was right next to me and smiled. After the concert, he told me and my friend it was worth every penny and that he wanted to see him again!
It made the concert even more enjoyable knowing I had my friends from DCO, who I had met this past year, sharing the experience too. Although we did not sit all together, I know they were feeling what I was feeling. By the way, thank you for all the “Happy Concert” wishes before the concert yesterday!
I want to also make a comment on the crowd and how David has a diverse following. For instance, there was a family in front of us with two little girls who were about the ages of 10 and 11 who were really true David fans! They screamed more than I did! There were also three guys in front of us who were on their feet the entire time “rocking out.” During Lie, there was young couple swaying back and forth which made me smile.
I was so happy David closed the show with ADAM. I had a feeling all day he would. I was so amazed when he stepped down off the stage into the crowd he had at least 5 security guards moving along with him. I felt at that moment David was indeed a star. No question.
Now I truly understand why so many people told me to “soak it all in” and that I’d want to see him again because of the magical feeling it brings. Some of my fellow DCOer’s and friends had their “David Moments.” Mine was last evening. One I will never forget.
