OCD Defined: 2008
So I'm new to this whole blogging thing, I've been a professional lurker for the past few years, but DC made me do it. hehe
Instead of introducing the many crazy aspects about me, I'm just going to write about one, namely my OCD. Otherwise defined as Obsessive Cook Disorder (or Cookie, in some circles). I wanna share some stuff here so that I'll remember it later, 'cause it's just too funny.
So first of all: my boss, which is not that much older than me, thinks I'm a nut for loving DC as much as I do. Granted, I'm acting like a fangirl teenager (I'm 24) by putting up a couple pics above my desk at work of him, including a printed cover of the Almanac, as well as the cut-out from the People mag shoot from the summer. Oh, and the Evolution of the Hair (or whatever it's called) from the TwoP gallery. Ahem.
So last week we had our annual Christmas lunch, which is served with lots of wine. Mix wine with overworked scientists and you get a pretty chatty and outgoing bunch of people who are otherwise far too professional and reserved. We did a gift exchange for which I brought the 09 Almanac (and ended up with it, hehe) and once everyone found out why I wanted it, the laughing circle began. If that wasn't enough, my (slightly drunk) boss then suggested that we add David Cook as an author to my latest paper, which we were due to submit to a national journal within the next week (for those curious, it's the American Journal of Physiology). Then, as an afterthought, he suggested adding him to the Acknowledgments section instead, thanking him for being my inspriation to work so hard. I thought it was a great idea, personally. He then broke out into song, singing about calcium and the endoplasmic reticulum (cell biology term), pretending to be DC. Turned out to be one of the funniest days at work, ever.
In summary: 2008 was the year everyone was introduced to DC. We saw him every week on AI (ack, I miss last winter/spring, when he was on TV every week!), looked up Axium and Analog Heart musac, went to the AI concerts over the summer (I didn't, 'cause I didn't want to drive down to Tacoma...shame on me), then bought DCTR, otherwise known as the BEST. RECORD. EVER. it's on constant loop on my car. my desktop wallpaper is DC. the first website i check every time I turn on my computer, after my email, is DCO. I cannot wait for the tewer announcements. I considered buying a last minute flight to Vegas to catch DC in concert on New Year's eve (though sorry, David, it's not quite worth the $800). I bought the THH ep, which I love. etc, etc, etc.
2008: the year of OCD! Here's to many more years of happy suffering

OCD - cute
Yeah, Im not 24 but 45. But pretty much the same, OCD. Course, im married and 2 kids. Went to the IA concert with the same. Dont really care for the last song Billy Jean for the original singer n all. It was a good concert all in all. Im all the way down here in FL. Home of Lynsey Rose. I met her. Charming little girl in a fight for her life. Her mom is sweet too.
I go to the gym and play CD music along with a playlist of other songs I like, about an hour and a half in all. Need to go to the gym, cause the ol' lady cant look good if not. My kids make fun of me and my husband thinks im nuts. Oh well. I cant keep up with the tech thing, but i do have a myspace and facebook to keep an eye on what the the kids do online. I have the Analog Heat CD and some of the songs sung on AI. My son found it for me on-line.
I find a lot of humor in life and I thought your BLOG was funny.
