SC State Fair 10/17
D-D-D-avid C-C-oo-K
It was freezing but it was worth it.
This was my 2nd Declaration Tour stop and this wasn't the first time the weather pissed me off. On my first show it was raining hard for the entire 4 hours we were in the line, at least this time it was only cold. I went to the show with my mom and dad. My mom introduced me to DC with Billie Jean and my dad went to my first DC concert. My day started off with so-so feeling, the good feeling was when a cute girl totally smiled at me in the hotel and I was excited to see DCTA again, the bad feeling was when it was freezing and it started to drizzle and I spent more than $20 trying to win fair games, but I did get my mom a little bear =P
So at about 6:30 we went to the place where the concert was, and I was pretty disappointed. I expected a big TV screen on the side of the stage because I was scared I wouldn't be able to see DCTA because my whole family is short. I'm 5' 4". However, the stage was pretty high so I still had hope. Pretty much in first few minutes when we were let in the concert the first few rows were already full, and I checked the merch table to see if I wanted to buy something but there wasn't anything I already didn't have.
It's about 7:15 these two guys come out and tried to get us pumped for DCTA, not that we needed it. There was a good mix of people here tonight, I had a old couple with their son (he looked 20-ish?) and a teenage girl with her family to my left (cutie!!). The row in front of us wasn't filled yet. Then the show started, the crowd goes crazy, and to my surprise, DCTA performs IDIFY first. Not exactly the best song to start the show, but still good nevertheless. The new ending to IDIFY is amazing, it was rockin'.
Next up was my favorite DC song ever, WOHWWS, ummm it was a little too awesome for my ears. Again, the ending was great and Kyle is an awesome drummer, he's beast.
Mr. Sensitive was rockin' too. Definitly a rocker's power ballad, again Kyle is an awesome drummer and David showed some rage pounding his guitar. Mr. S wasn't a favorite from DCTR, but it's rockin' live...like..legit.
Heroes was kinda disappointing, not because of David, but because the people in the crowd weren't singing the "You're still standing" part. Heroes is better live than on DCTR fo shizzle though.
Lie was the only break from this high energy set list. The acappella (sp?) part of Lie was great and my mom went crazy after it ended. It was pretty quiet too, but when people shush other people it just pisses me off.
KOTN was definitely a highlight of the show. I never heard the Hotel California snippet in KOTN, so when he was singing it I was like "WTF?" but the snippet fits perfectly in the song. Did I say Kyle was an awesome drummer?
BBS was another highlight of the show. I was air guitaring in the first few songs, but now I could really head bang. It felt good.
Declaration is my favorite song from DCTR and damnn it was great. Again head banging ftw and us clapping our hands without DC telling us too was pretty cool. This should have been a single *coughdamnRCAcough*
IJDIYAT was the song I was really excited about hearing. The head banging never stops haha, but wow this was awesome. Neal tore up the s*** outta the guitar and the crowd sang the chorus to IJDIYAT better than the chorus to LO. The biggest surprise of the night was my mom screaming the chorus to this song, she told me she heard this song before when she was younger.
LO was okay, nothing really special here. I was air guitaring the chords to LO, because I watched the SNL LO so much that I memorized when DC would strum the guitar.
Then DCTA left the stage. This was the moment when was like "Oh crapp the shows almost over" then these people in front of me leave their seats. (They're dumbb)
DCTA comes back on stage, my mom is begging for CBTM and I'm praying that SA, CBTM, and ADAM was going to be played for encore. SA starts and I go crazy, I love SA like crazy and it's probably my fave out of AH now. Again, head banging ftw/
CBTM was the last of the night. When DC said CBTM was the next song my mom went crazy, it's her fave out of DCTR. CBTM was good, but David please, please , please never close a concert with this song again. It's not that it's bad, it just that it's not as good as ADAM or LO as a closer.
Overall, it was a great show. Miles better than my first DC concert and I could see pretty well. I could tell that David's voice was struggling but I don't blame him. The band was rockin' tonight and probably looked at Andy the most during the concert excluding David. David is luck having these guys as a band, Andy is the jack of all trades, Monty is just a cool bassist, Neal is a beast at the guitar, did I mention Kyle is an awesome drummer? My mom LOVES Kyle and she thinks DC was great and he deserved to win AI.
If I could define the concert in two sentences it would be this: DCTA came. DCTA delivered.
Here are some of the pics from the concert:

Great Recap!
I could feel your enthusiasm.
Glad you had such a great time despite the cold.
I think it's apparent by now that David Cook and his band always deliver!
Sharing tonight with your parents, awesome!

I'll keep on living with my heart on my sleeve
'cause I've seen love, and I still believe,,,,,,,,,,,, "Still"
YOU DELIVERED
One of the best recaps I've ever read. Kyle IS an awesome drummer and loved your descriptions of the rest of the band. I agree that Declaration should have been released as a single. It has hit written all over it. It can still be done.
Sounds like it was a great concert even if it was rainy and cold. Glad you had a great time.
Awesome recap!
Glad you and your mom had fun tonight. I agree that CBTM shouldn't be used to close the show. LO is the better choice. I agree Kyle is a fantastic drummer. Any of us who have been to at least 1 show like you will agree.
Thanks!
Wonderful recap! Thank you for sharing.
Loved it!
It was such a pleasure to read this. Thanks so much for sharing your experience. You may be young but you write quite well!
