Spreckels Theater Concert Recap

This Show was absolutely ANTHEMIC!! as I mentioned before. I can only echo what others have said and add my own recollection..

When we arrived and were seated in the FRONT ROW right in front of David’s mic stand, it all became REAL! While sitting there and waiting for the show to begin, the security came around and told us that due to fire codes we were not allowed to stand, if we did the security would come down and the fire marshal would close the show. Very disheartening, how in the WORLD were we suppose to just “sit” there, a group discussion soon ensued with fans that were seated behind me, we knew we were not going to “just sit there” It was a little depressing. (but not for long).
As soon as David and the Anthemic blasted on to the stage with Mr. Sensitive everyone stood, that was, everyone that I could see, and there was no sitting, at least for the next hour and a half, no security and no shutting down the show. I won’t be able to go song by song, just because I was so mesmerized by this gorgeous human being just 10 feet away, if that.
Then they went right into Heroes, I just absolutely LOVE David and The Anthemic LIVE. After Heroes, David told us that the bad news was that there was no opening band, but the good news is that “We get to play longer” and the crowd went NUTS! David came right up to the edge of the stage just in front of me, I did take the drawing I did and when he saw it he looked at me and smiled, OH be still my beating heart!
David was everything, HOT, SEXY,SWEATY,BREATHLESS,SENSITIVE,FUNNY and very Chatty.
Neal was absolutely GODLIKE. One of the best guitarist, imo, on the planet, the energy and excitement was absolutely awe-inspiring, especially when he put his guitar behind his head, Amazing!
Andy, oh, what can I say about Andy, GORGEOUS,Captivating. Awesome keyboards, guitar and what vocals.
Monty was all over the stage, rockin’ out! High energy! I think he’ll be around for a long time if you ask me.
Kyle, OMG, this guy is absolutely AMAZING!! I don’t know how to explain it but it’s like being transported to another world when he gets behind those drums. Totally mesmerized by his talent.
David is absolutely the best at making his shows up close and personal for everyone in the audience, you feel like you are the only one in the room and he and the guys are performing just for you, I have never felt that way about any band.
I just loved the way they all come to the front of the stage and give you that Up Close experience. What a natural HIGH these guys give you.
When the show ended David was throwing picks, almost got one.I tried to give David the drawing I did, but I could not get his attention.
After the show a group of us waited out by the bus, Monty was there talking to us and answering all kinds of questions. I asked for an autograph and picture with him. I showed him the drawing I did of David and asked him if he wouldn’t mind giving it to him. He said “No problem, I’ll put it on the bus for you.” so Monty did just that and came back out to talk to us some more, he wasn’t sure if David would come out or not.
Kyle came by and I told him that he was Awesome he signed my CD booklet too.
Andy, poor Andy, he came out hands over ears saying “I don’t know where David is, I’m not David” and ran to the bus, while everyone was shouting “ We Want You!!” it was actually too cute, poor guy he just has to realize we love him too.
Neal and came out, heading for the bus,as he passed by I asked him to sign my booklet
too, he said he would be right back, but never did come back off the bus.
As we were all waiting for David, because we knew he was next, the bus pulls a little further ahead,I just wanted David to sign my drawing and tell him thank you for an ANTHEMIC NIGHT, But he came out in a rush and went right on the bus without looking back and the bus drove off into the "sunset" sort of speak. I can’t say that I was disappointed after all he and the guys gave us an ANTHEMICALLY AMAZING SHOW. At least I know he saw the drawing, he got the one I had for him and now its on to
the Next one. South Carolina State Fair in October, maybe my luck will have changed by then and I will be able to finally tell him that they are all AMAZING!

I really enjoyed reading your recap of the show and loved looking at all of your great photos! Thanks so much for sharing it all with us! Having front row seats had to have made the whole experience even more amazing. To see them perform up close and personal like that had to have been pretty incredible. (I especially loved David's t-shirt because I have one like that from years ago when Def Lep came through the Chicago area.)

I can't imagine anyone not being able to stand throughout the show...that is IMPOSSIBLE...lol!!! I'm glad to hear that people got up anyways and that they did not stop the show. I enjoyed your comments on each of the band members and how nice Monty was to everyone while waiting outside after the show...what a COOL guy. I'm so glad he agreed to take your sketch and give it to David. Plus having Kyle sign your CD...another piece of excitement that night for you to always have in your memories. With some luck maybe you'll get a chance to talk to the rest of them at the Columbia show? One can always hope Smiling

I am so glad you had such a great time.
Your description of David, the guys and the band as a whole is so well written and so spot on.
Thanks for sharing your great experience with the best band on the planet!
