Scene: 1991. A wet beach outside Seattle. Sunset, lighthouse.

Vedder, walking through tall grass: "Cornell! Here I come to save your single, man.

BTW, you and I are about the become enormously rich and famous. Though because I am prettier, I will always stay . . . just that much more famous than you. It's all happenin' in.......

Oh, about six months."

Cornell: "Ha ha ha! Good one, Eddie."

Cornell to band: "OK, are we ready to fight capitalism by releasing awesome music . . . while wearing really sh*tty clothes?"

Band (checks selves for backwards baseball cap over matted hair, plaid flannel, Carhartt jacket, board shorts, workboots): "Yaaaaaaaaay!!!!"

TOD sings mighty song, dances vaguely in front of sunset. Gathers around campfire in the lessening light to cook tofu.

Stepping out of the darkness, a stocky, bearded figure appears. In one hand he is carrying a white Les Paul; in the other, a pitcher of beer.

"Chris Cornell, I am your future. Fifteen years from now, in a bar in Tulsa, I will become your HEIR. And later, on national television I will cover you covering Michael Jackson, and together, we will retake the airwaves from the evils of Christian teenage virgin pop."

Cornell: "Ha ha ha ha! God, I am SO high."

And so a legend was born.
