The Darkness is Coming

I've lost my faith, the darkness is coming, and I don't think daybreak will come. The fan police have arrived, and they are winning this ever losing battle. A site for all his fan's is not so. It's apparently for his "select" fans of the fan's choice, and any who do not fit the fan police guidelines will be eliminated.

This childish flagging has given a few unknown people this false sense of power than they can run peoples lives and how they post by clicking the "flagged" button. Things that weren't even inappropriate were flagged. People saying "thank you" within the "inappropriate" thread were flagged. Apparently guilty by association as well. You don't even need to be out of line to be flagged anymore, you just have to seem like you'd "fit in with the naughty ones."

This has gone from a place for "Everyone" to a place for those who don't want anyone to smile, enjoy themselves, or have fun. No play time. There's children here!

IMO, if someone has a child, and they can't parent their own kid why do we have to pay the price? If I wanted to parent a kid I'd go get pregnant and have one myself. I'm not here to police your child, and if you don't have a big enough back bone to watch what your child is doing on the net then you shouldn't have a kid.

It's not my job to be overly PC because you can't be a parent. Fan police are obviously here to reign over the forums, and are doing a great job of ruining everyone elses fun. I'm actually soon to be returning to lurking and no longer posting, and possibly to be no longer here at all.

If I can't be myself, then I don't want to be here. I don't want someone telling me who I have to be to fit in or to post. Especially if it's not a moderator.

Now I'm not saying everyone is using children as an excuse and that's not my only point for this blog. because I have had a few people reply to my blog and talk in messages with me. If you don't have kids, how hard is it to turn your cheek and leave us be? We've been given our guidelines.. Your grown ups, you don't like it don't read it. I don't like seeing 400 pages about reviewing LO so guess what I do? I don't read them.. I ignore them. I don't run in and flag people.

Which is another point, who hates what we say yet spends MORE time updating and checking to see if we posted something they might not like... Really? I've been flagged 5 times now. None of which were deleted, they were unflagged and left alone. Yet someone felt the need to run back in and flag them all again. We had 2 pages of straight flags. Not exactly "accidental".

I'm also amazingly tired of people posting that we are "inferior fans" because we like his body. Basically your superior because you spew rainbows? Sorry I don't do that, and disagree that David probably doesn't either.

I love the posts left here. I love having both sides of the theory and I love new points of view. If you can speak to me civil and not "OMG you blow, your not welcome here!"

So to everyone who's posted a comment to this blog or messaged me, thank you I appreciate it. and I actually reply back if you comment the blog.. I won't comment my own blog to respond to you cuz well, you'll never see it.. =P

alright I'm done I swear.

I am sorry, but the "fan police" is not here because people can't parent their kids. The "Fan Police" is here because it is impossible to come here to talk about anything else other than porn. Last time I checked, he was a musician. Hot musician, yes, but it's gotten extremely disrespectful.

And no, I am not a prude. And I don't even have kids. But it's nice to know I can come to his official website, his official board and talk to people that share my love for the guy, not for the imaginary sex toy.

I hope you guys can have your weird fun somewhere else where everybody else who's more interested in sex with real people doesn't have to see it and read it.

I'm a parent. My child is in her 20s now, but she nearly grew up around computers. Fortunately, her dad and I were comfortable enough with them to be able to trace her whereabouts. She was even grounded from the computer for linking to inappropriate sites. I don't think it's realistic to be looking over a teen's shoulder 24/7. Having a musician appear on TV may provide a certain comfort level, only to have a young person's senses ambushed by threads that might not necessarily reveal their contents in the title.
Sure, all rockers have fan sites. Some have explicit lyrics. It's important for all parents (as I have) to monitor (and hopefully discuss) what's being seen and heard. But threads that contain "fun" and "naughty" comments interspersed with general "all ages" content is not helpful to anyone involved.
I've seen David's level of discomfort at concert antics where his mother is present. I think the same consideration goes for the board.
I'm a 50 year old musician. Last year I sang in a biker bar. I've worked in a car dealership with 17 guys. There's nothing I could see or hear that would shock ME. I just wouldn't want to see anyone I know and love objectified in a public forum. I'm sure there's a more appropriate place to air these discussions.
Thanks for considering an alternative perspective.

"All that I needed was there all along, within my reach; close as the beat of my heart."

I totally know how you're feeling. But don't let them run you away. We still have our blogs and I'd bet David would love to know what's going on.

This is the state of affairs in this country. And I'm going to blogblogblog on it later. People don't parent their children. They want the teachers, coaches to do it. If their kid fails a class, it's not because they didn't make the kid study, it's because the teacher was too harsh or didn't like them or something completely childish like that. Or if they're not getting minutes on the soccer team, it's because the coach is mean, or maybe the SUCK??? This is much of the same. What these people don't understand is that while David was discovered by AI and won, he is not magic rainbows and sunshine up your ass. He's a rocker. And rocker's websites are no place for children. Nickleback is the same genre as David. They have some incredibly explicit lyrics. Do you think I'd let my kid go there? HELL NO! But because he was on Americal Idol, he must be wholesome and pure, right? No. He's not TOML. He was forced to sing that song!! He's Billy Jean. He's Analog Heart.

Ok, I'll blog on that in my own blog.

Keep your head up sistah! Maybe we should have t-shirts made for the concert and he can sign them Laughing out loud
