Well as most of you know I was lucky enough that David came to my home state on my 18th birthday. So my friend Tiffany and I got up early the day after our high school graduation to call in to get the tickets and after about 15 min I got through and we got 4 tickets for me, Tiff Marlee and Sergio. The wait for the concert was so long but in the end it was worth it.
at 6:45 everyone met up at my house then we went to get crossword scratch off tickets (first adult thing I did ) and after that we got coffee since everyone was still really sleepy...when we finally got to the fair at 8:30ish we kind of got lost trying to find the stage but after we finally found the stage and we saw 2 lines and decided to pick the line by Andy’s side and we were lucky enough to pick the side that had "regulars" in the front of the line :| the day was so long and boring just sitting in the rocky dirt, me and Sergio even made up a game of trying to throw rocks into the hole on top of a cone and then he started jamming out to an old Britney Spears song when he found it on my iPod, while we were doing that ava came by and gave me the nicest card and a gift card for iTunes with a really sweet note on it (thank you again for that)...at around 11:30 a group of 4 or 5 women came and cut in line saying they were there at 8am which I highly doubt it and some of the people in the back started yelling at them and they asked me and Marlee if we saw them and we just didn’t want to get into it with them
when it was finally mine and Marlee’s turn to walk around we found out that Andy came out and played his guitar a little on stage (GRR ) when we were walking around we saw a place to get fake tattoos so we did it which was fun because I was able to freak out my bro when I text him “we are getting tats” then I got one from him saying “DO YOU WANT DAD TO KILL YOU!?” then I told him it was fake then he text me back “You little s*** you scared the crap out of me” I laughed so hard when I saw that
we were still very tired from getting up so early so me and Tiff used Sergio as a pillow and took a lil nap while Marlee went to a grassy field to lay down cause she was feeling sick again, and while we where napping ava came by again to give me a dvd which was really sweet I just feel bad that I was kinda out of it when she came over, it was nice when they told us the line had to move to a different spot cause there wasn’t any rocks on the ground so we could actually lay down without being in pain, when I read that there was going to be no shade they weren’t kidding I even used my sign to block the sun until the nice people behind us said I could use their umbrella
While we were napping I heard someone playing the bass and looked up and saw Joey’s purple hair, he was the only one of the EEB that came out and sound checked a little while after Joey was done sound checking Green River Ordinance came out to sound check which was really cool!!! I just wish David would have sound checked
later during the day we saw people just looking behind these trucks and me and tiff went to go look what was going on and there was David, Neal, Andy, and Joey playing catch soon after we were over there a security guy made us move even though we were far away from them, later David and a crew guy were playing catch then someone over threw the ball I think and a girl ran to go get it to throw back but yet again security guy ruined it and yelled at her about 10 min later David threw the ball to her and I think he wanted her to keep it but she was just happy to throw it back to him
later we were just talking then I said that my dad was acting weird this morning by saying “so this is the first year we aren’t having birthday cupcakes for you” then Marlee and Tiff snuck off and told me I couldn’t go along and when they came back Marlee was hiding something behind her back and then they started to sing happy birthday to me and Marlee pulled out a funnel cake they got…I just find it really sweet that my friends would do that
when we were finally let into the VIP section me and tiff walked really fast to our spots (third row aisle seats!!) I was hoping for first but 3rd was great that was the closest I have ever been at a concert, we could see the meet and greet from where we were sitting then I saw that kyle put on a cheesehead (man I wish a photo would show up with him wearing it) while we were waiting ava slipped something into my hood which was a card from MSC (thank you so much for that)Green River Ordinance was great!!!and during their set Andy went up and was taping them a little then David came up and started whispering into a mike so the lead singer could hear him, the 2 of them even sang along to GRO song “Goodbye LA” during intermission I saw the lead guitar player taking pictures with people and me and tiff went to go look and when we saw there wasn’t a big group I ran back and grabbed marlee and we got a group shot with him
when the David and the guys finally went up on stage I went nuts and I loved that they started with KOTN like they did at UWGB, when David said this next song is called Souvenir I was sooooo happy I always wanted to hear that song live so I pulled out my camera and filmed it which im glad I did cause it looks like I was the only one that filmed it, Marlee loved it when they sang CBTM cause that was the only song she knew it was cool seeing her rock out to that after one of the songs David started to throw guitar picks at Neal and I couldn’t help but wish that he would throw one to me, It was so funny when one of the beach balls landed on the stage and David picked it up then said “Dear Wisconsin, Im having the time of my life seeing David Cook 7/23/09 ok” then he kicked it back into the crowed (if it would have landed by me I would have kept it )when we were waiting for them to come back out for the encore I saw Kyle jump on David’s back backstage and then David started to walk back on stage while giving Kyle a piggy back ride I started to laugh it was awesome to see that, I was sad when they were done with the show cause it seemed like it took forever to get here and then it was over in a blink of an eye
Im not going to lie I was kind of upset that David never noticed my sign but Sergio and Marlee made up for it completely, when me and Tiff went to go see if the guys were going to come out those two stayed back to see if they could get something from the stage crew and then one of them threw out one of Neal’s picks and Sergio caught it and quickly walked away (I didn’t know that any of this happened) and after about 15min of waiting Kyle came out of the tent I was the first to notice him and some of the people around me didn’t believe me that it was him (they should have known who they were talking to ) when he walked back on stage Tiff was saying that we should just go and I didn’t want to so Marlee hit Sergio and said give it to her now! And Tiff agreed (I was so confused by that) then Sergio held out his hand and said HAPPY BIRTHDAY and opened his hand and there was a blue guitar pick that said DR on it I was so shocked and happy and I gave them all a huge hug, when we saw Kyle go back into the tent I said we could go….although I didn’t get my Bday wish of David seeing my sign I think it ended up better cause it showed me that I have some of the best friends in the world and that hopefully we will still be great friends even when we move on to college.
