What a day!!! 11/3/09
I have a David hangover today. Here's my fabulous day in a nutshell...
My husband won tickets to the unplugged show and I took my 5 year old son. He is such a big fan of David's. It was great bonding for him and I. My son and I are so much alike we butt heads a lot. And he's only 5!! So that was really special. I'll post pics in my blog of us waiting. As David walked into the studio, he gave my boy "five". That was cool. Wish I had video of that.
But the unplugged show. Wow!!! Hearing him so close and raw like that is a powerful experience. It's no wonder he won Idol. He is just fantastic acoustic and live. Even the videos don't do the actual performance justice. The mic really changed his voice. "Lie" was absolutely beautiful. My favorite song by far! And it was really cool to hear "Heroes" and "Mr. Sensitive" when I went in expecting "Light On" and "Come Back to Me". My son was very attentive during the singing but during the Q&A and interview, he got restless. But we got some good info during the Q&A. Possibly an album drop during the spring? Some time before May?
Then came picture time. Wish I had video of that too. Wouldn't it be nice to have a Penseive like in Harry Potter for times like these? Declan was very anxious to meet David. I don't even think I actually introduced us
I was a bit star struck. But Declan was not. He walked right up to David and grabbed his hand. It was sweet. Then I think he was trying to make his "rockstar" face. It looked more like a scowl. So after a picture of that, I stepped in for a pic of me, David, and Declan. Then I asked for one of David's famous fabulous hugs and he graciously obliged. Declan joined in for a group hug. It was a very memorable experience! David said he wanted to take Declan on tour with him cause he was so sweet. I melted into a happy puddle of goo.
We leave the studio and Declan cries and says "I'm going to miss David Cook." I nearly cried with him.
It was a great way for Declan to get to see his favorite singer and I'm so glad for the opportunity. The concert was loud, as it should be, and he would not have enjoyed that at his age.
So now on to the big show! I was pretty excited to go see the concert anyway and we had decent seats. My mom and mother in law went. I'm not sure they'd go again. It was a bit loud for them
But they love David and really enjoyed "Lie".
Before the show, the radio station had a booth outside the colleseum. They had a drawing for rows 1-5 in the front section, which were impossible to get unless you wanted to pay scalpers. We all entered. I usually never win anything so I was pretty sure that we were going to sit where we had tickets. They drew the first name. Nope, not it. They drew the second name and by God it was me!!! I looked up to the sky and asked "Are you serious?" I swear my guardian angels were rewarding me for my patience with all this wonderful luck. So with permission from my moms, my sister and I got to sit 5 rows away from the stage. Unbelievable!
If you've seen a show before on this tour, you will definitely want to try to make one of these last shows. He has hit his stride!! They have changed things up. The set list was incredible. "Lie" was the most beautiful thing ever with the entire crowd completely silent and David singing basically without the microphone acapella. It was brilliant and moving and something I'll never forget. "I just Died In Your Arms Tonight" was awesome! I really would like a single of that! And the light show! I've seen some indoor Youtubes and I really don't think I've seen a light show like this one. It was a rock show, full tilt. But the icing on the cake was "A Daily Anthem". David disappears behind a curtain on stage left and we're like "Where'd he go?" Then my sister pushes me and says "He's coming down here!!!" And sure enough, he walked right past us. He ended up at the back of the crowd on some chairs holding hands with fans and singing "ADAM". It was magical. And then he came right back up the same row and past us again. Then we get to sing the end of "ADAM" with him. Priceless.
Congrats on revamping the tour boys! You've done a brilliant job!! It was worth the wait!
So all in all, I had a spectacular day. I doubt I will ever top it. The stars aligned for me that day. My son, my sister, and I will cherish these memories.

Thanks LP
My son is now drawing David into our family stick figure portraits. He still believes he's coming to our house. Oh, if it were only so.
