Seeing this headline across the country is more important to me than whether or not I personally can go to a show. And I would give up ever seeing David live again if it means I would never have to read about a DC concert being cancelled due to lack of sales. I also pray I never see an article about how David did a college tour and pissed off his "Cougar" fans. How the disgusting entertainment media would love to get on that train. If that happens, I may die of shame.
imo the college tour idea is a good business decision. It's a good career decision. It will be fun and challenging for the guys to play for audiences who will not necessarily know the words to every song. And it means a lot of lucky folks are going to see a really intimate, fun show. I saw The Clash when I was in college. They also played bigger venues. They were a v. big deal at the time-besides being the most respected and popular of punk bands, this was right after their biggest hits Rock the Casbah and SISOSIG-but still they played a college tour. I was a "real" fan who had been into them for years, and I loved them for doing that. I was so close Joe Strummer was sweating on me. So go, young whippersnappers. Get sweated on by Neal for me (or perhaps Neal is way to cool to sweat?)
