Every time I see someone now with spiky / dyed hair and tattoos, I don't judge them as rebellious, wild or risky anymore. I now think, "that could be another David Cook." I think he changed the image of a rocker for most. He has his college degree, is good to his family, and isn't afraid to show his sensitive side by displaying his emotions when he feels them.
The week he did "Hello" threw me for a loop. First, I loved Lionel Richie's version. Secondly, I couldn't believe a (gasp) rocker would choose to do such a loved but un-cool slow song. Thirdly, David's version blew me away. I remember watching his entire "Hello" performance with my mouth hanging open in shock. Like Simon Cowell said, "I loved it."
One more thing. There's this guy that works in the library I visit. He looks a lot like the Axium-era David Cook. He has the hair, tattoos, style, everything--and he's young and cute too. He's also really friendly and kind whenever I talk to him. Before, I would never believe someone who looked like that would be a librarian. Now I think - oh, another word nerd! Amazing.
Yes!
