Haha, so I get on and buy my copy of Light On from iTunes at midnight. Then I realized...it wasn't enough. I really want this to be a huge success for him...great momentum going into the album release. And honestly...more album sales = more tour dates! Soooo, I kept hitting "buy" a few times until I had 5 digital copies of Light On haha...I felt like that was good for now.
...maybe I'll buy a few more in the morning for good measure.

Tomorrow, when I'm back at work, I'll make an amazon.com purchase (if it's available there yet) for my work computer, which doesn't have itunes. I bought TOML at work and play it through windows media player.
I want to buy it, but I can't.
I don't live in USA, so I can't buy it.
Doesn't anyone want to gift me the song?
Can I ask a question? This 5 song-limit that's being discussed. Is that per account or per computer? I have multiple iTunes accounts on my computer for other family members.
Also, do we know of *any* documentation out there (from soundscan or iTunes) that helps us understand exactly what quantity is counted vs. discounted as bulk-buying? I'd really like to read some info on that.

If you buy more than 5 in one day and they are all gifts to different people, then would each sale count - just curious. I can see if you are keeping them all yourself not counting, but if your gifting that should be different imo. Does anybody know? Also, how will we know the sales numbers? I'm not wise in the ways of music sales.

You're not the only crazy one!! I bought 1 and gifted 4..didn't want to go over the 5 mark on the first day...will probably buy a few more in a couple of days!! Can't wait to see the single sales chart on itunes change in David's favor!!

I read that you should only buy one a day. If you buy 8 at one time, it only counts as one sale. Sounds weird, but that's what i heard.
I just bought my copy and gifted 4 more.
We should not buy in bulk!
I read it somewhere that after 5 it won't count. You can buy later again if you want to.
I'm desperate to know the debut numbers!!!!

i bought two so far. i was afraid that my purchase last night before midnight wouldn't count. so just got on this morning and got another one.
You aren't alone - I bought several for myself as I like to sprinkle them throughout my iPod when I'm playing on the "Shuffle" setting!

Some other thread earlier though warned that some stats exclude "bulk" sales. . . so you can buy several, but not "too much"
In that thread, the non-specific expectation was more than 8 was probably too much, so we should probably try to keep it to 5 at a time...

Just make sure that you don't buy more than 7 or 8 a week. If you do it only counts as one purchase. If you buy 5 it counts as 5 purchases. They are trying to keep bulk purchases from influencing chart placement.
