I love both these guys and their bands. IMO, they're two of the best to come out of the Idol machine. Any other cross-over fans out there?

Daughtry just finished their short club tour promoting his new record and this fall they're headlining their own arena tour! I can already visualize David's headlining arena tour about a year from now when he releases his second (major) record.

Just added thanks to RA1: There's a new music video for their single "Life After You", it's really good. http://www.popeater.com/2009/10/15/daughtry-life-after-you-video/

It'sMyTime - Thanks. We only got to take one picture, so we both got the same one. I don't think there's enough time to do more than one pic per person.

You're going to have an amazing time whether you do the VIP or not!!

Eryn, great recap! Thanks!!

Question for you... In your pic with the band, I see you and your friend are both in the picture. Did you get 2 of the same pics or did they take 2 different shots? I was thinking that if I did VIP I might want a group shot with the band instead of a picture of just me and the band, but does that mean that the others in my group wouldn't get a solo pic with the band? Thanks again for sharing. This will hold me for the 4-week wait til my show. Smiling

When everything's the same and nothing ever changes, will you fall back into me?

Okay, my review of the show is up. It's really long, so I totally apologize for that!!

Here it is: http://www.davidcookofficial.com/us/blog/daughtry-concert-madison-wi-102...

One more thing I totally spaced on mentioning: JP is actually the bartender in the VIP lounge, so if you do the VIP and you can drink, you totally get more face time with the man.

Eryn267: Thanks for posting your update! Can't wait for the full recap and pics. I'd love to do VIP, but I don't think I can afford it this time. I might breakdown (pun intended!) if there are any left closer to the date, but I've already spent a few hundred dollars for my rockin' weekend. I will try for the Chris's twitter contest though Smiling

SquirrellyGirl: I agree that Daughtry's first album has been played out on radio, but Leave This Town is phenominal and so far they have only played one song from it (No Surprise) on the radio although the second single (Life After You) was just released. If you are a Daughtry fan, you will LOVE this new record. I bought the deluxe version from iTunes so got 3 bonus songs, then bought the bonus track from Walmart (Get Me Through) and then the 2 B-sides songs you can get directly from Daughtry's official website. The B songs and bonuses are every bit as spectacular as the 12 songs that made the official version. So if you are a Daughtry fan that's tired of the old songs, you will fall in love with this band all over again after listening to Leave This Town!

I love Daughtry, but they play his music so much I'm sick of him. Sorry to say it, but it is true. My local radio station makes me hate Daughtry. On the other hand, it's rare to hear David anymore. I don't get it. I think David is every bit as good, but I don't think he struck while the momentum was going. I think David should be playing bigger venues. I don't think he should "RETIRE" any song that went platinum. David, please do another video just for me (like you forgot my birthday, so you owe me...you know???).

Went to the Daughtry show last night in Madison, WI. Let me tell you that the show was AMAZING!! These guys really know how to put on a pretty epic rock show.

We also upgraded to VIP, and I really recommend it for die-hard Daughtry fans. You get to see a private sound check of the guys, then the meet-and-greet (which is quick, but still pretty phenomenal), pick up your autograph and then you get first-dibs on the merchandise. Another great perk is that if you get back to the venue before the doors open, they hold all the doors around the arena until the VIPs are in. Meaning you get to your seats first and don't have to wait in line.

All in all, it was a really great show and I can't wait to see the guys again. I'm working on a re-cap of the show including pics, which I'll post when I'm done.

RA1: thanks for posting the new video. Okay, it's reallly time for Dave's new video. RCA/19, are you listening?

davidcfan488: yay for tickets... what a great birthday present!! Which show are you going to?

azdcfan: You got an hour and a half?! Cool! David, are YOU listening (hehe)

eryn267: just one more week for you!! Lucky you, I still have to wait another 5 weeks, but I know it will be worth the wait.

ItsMyTime (oh, wait, that's me LOL): YAY... DAVID'S COMING BACK TO FLORIDA. I got my tickets yesterday and his show is the same weekend as DAUGHTRY'S. David on Sat. 11/28 in Orlando, Daughtry on Mon. 11/30 in Gainesville. It doesn't get any better than that. Well, actually it does cuz before I knew David was coming back to FL, I got tickets for Dashboard Confessional on Sun, 11/29 also in Orlando, so I have a triple-header coming off Thanksgiving weekend. My version of ROCK HEAVEN!!

Hey Daughtry fans. Don't forget to vote for Daughtry for an AMA. They are up for Adult Contemporary (go figure!)

Saw Daughtry last night ~ was a great show .. he is a terrific performer! He played for about an hour and a half for a sold out show .. it was crazy hot at the Marquee .. thank goodness we were by the cooling fans!

I love them both.

ItsMyTime - our show in on October 24 in Madison. Yeah, the VIP is pricey, but we figured you get so much with the package deal it would be worth it. If our show is before yours I'll totally let you know what the deal is and whether it's worth it.

I would have to say right now my favorite song on the album is "Every Time You Turn Around." I can't wait for this tour!!

Eryn267: When is your show? I'm thinking about the VIP but it's kind of expensive. If your show is first, I'd like to hear from you so I can decide if I should buy VIP. Right now, VIP is not selling fast in Gainesville, but I'm not surprised cuz it's a college town and $155 on top of the $40 ticket is a lot for college students. Anyway, please let me know if you think it was worth the money. Have a great time!!

BTW: Chris tweeted the other day that the were rehearsing "Call Your Name" for the tour and he said it was "epic!" I'm so excited cuz that's my favorite song from the new album.

I like Daughtry too, both Chris and David have very powerful voices and i love them =)

We actaully decided now to upgrade our seats for the Madison, WI show to VIP. So, we're gonna meet the band and get some autographs before the show!! So stoked to get to hang with the band!!

Got my Daughtry tix for Gainesville, FL on Nov. 30th. WooHoo! Got pretty good seats, I think, from looking at the venue map. Anyone else going?

Now, if David would just COME BACK to FL one more time, please!!

So take a minute just to breathe, and think of everything you wanted, and what you got instead.

Fan of both ~ DC first and Daughtry second. Going to see Daughtry for the first time in a couple of weeks. Small venue so it should be pretty exciting. Have seen David a couple of times and plan to see him a couple of more before the year is over.

ItsMyTime, David and the Anthemic is my #1 band, but Bon Jovi is my #1 and 1/2

Blondie and Mike: David and the Anthemic is my #1 band, but Daughtry is my #1 and 1/2 Smiling

If they were both playing locally on the same night, no question, I'd be at David's show. But in his absence, I sure love me some Daughtry. Then Linkin Park is a distant 3rd. Go figure! I just like their sound and they really mix it up.

Blondie811:

I completely agree with you. That was my first Daughtry concert and although I like him, there is no comparison although I guess in all fairness we should not really be comparing. Daughtry is good for Daughtry and David is AMAZING GREAT UNBELIEVABLE...sorry I got a little carried away there. Can I just say I love me some cookie crumbs...
--
"Yeah Yeah Yeah I love David Cook I'm just sayin..."

I like Daughtry, but not even close to as much as I love David! For me, there is no comparison. I am happy to hear though that Daughtry puts on a good show. About 1 1/2 years ago I saw them open for Bon Jovi and I was excited that they were opening but they didn't sound great. They were a little off key and just didn't give a great performance. That is one thing that has amazed me with David from the start. Every concert has been incredible and he makes his songs even better live than on the CD and I love the CD.

Hi Mike: I was there with just one other girl, but it felt like 1000 of my closest friends Smiling

All: Anybody going to any fall concerts? I'm going to Gainesville, if I can get tickets. I thought they were going on sale Saturday, but they're not even listed at Ticketmaster (with the usual "not on sale yet" blurb). Maybe I have my sale dates mixed up?!

BTW, I read that Life After You is the next single, out in late October. What do you think of that? I was a little surprised, but it's radio-friendly and I guess that's what they look for in releasing singles. After No Surprise (which I think is the most "pop" song on the record) I was hoping for something a little more Daughtryesque. I like both of those songs; just not my favorites.

I just realized that it IS you! I was at Daughtry's concert at the HOB in Orlando too! I wonder if you were the girl next to me?!?!?! When I saw the youtube vid's I thought wow she must have been pretty close because that is about where I was standing. Were you there with 2 other girls???

I'm a huge DAUGHTRY and David Cook fan!!!!!!
They are the best out there. Not just the best from AI, but the best in the entire music industry:)!!

Love Daughtry. I've only recently got back into listening regularly to them when "Leave this Town" came out, since I've exclusively listened to only Dave, MWK, THH for months. But, when DCFan11102 got tickets for us to go see Daughtry in Madison, I knew it was time to pull it out again. Now I'm really excited for the show!!

Cyn, I know what you mean. When I went to see Daughtry live this summer I felt like I was "cheating" on David LOL! Especially cuz I couldn't stop talking about it for days.

So everyone, if you haven't seen Daughtry live, check out some vids. They put on a GREAT show!! Non-stop solid rock. This is from House of Blues in Orlando. He did 15 songs, a little more than half from the new record. Most of my vids are from Leave This Town, but there are a couple from the debut album. There and Back Again (which wasn't my favorite off the debut record) was one of my favorite performances that night (read the caption first) ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9DfcORPog8. So much energy!! And he closed the show with Home as the second encore song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hogH0W5HohE.

Dawnie, this one's for you... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgG73UP4Ggs (Ghost of Me live)

Danika, Call Your Name is my favorite too. I was so looking forward to hearing it live, but he didn't sing it.

LeaveTheLightOn, you're in luck cuz he sang both of your faves!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwBlIItgCSk (an acoustic Open Up Your Eyes - beautiful!) and a really rockin' You Don't Belong (this was his first encore song). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0kGtiYF29k

RA1, here's September for you. You're in good company cuz Chris said it is his favorite song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHcypLBpda8

My impression was that David's shows are more personal, with the banter, eye contact, and audience interaction, but both bands are phenominal, both lead singers are stellar, and both left me wanting more and soon!! Enjoy the vids! Anybody else have any to share? (hint Call Your Name???)

I do like Daughtry, too. I was pretty bummed when he was voted off AI, but let's face it talent is talent and he did ok. I listened to his music Alot until DAVID hit the scene. He stole my ears and my heart away from Chris & his band until just recently. I am back to listening to Daughtry's music and love the new CD, BUT a part of me feels as though I am somehow betraying DAVID since I pretty much listened to nothing but him for over a year.

Sure I like both they are both great singers ..... David better in my opinion .....going to see David at the Borgata and then going to see Daughtry at trump .....the song I like the best off Daughtry new Cd would have to be the GHOST OF ME love that one
--
Dawn

I love them both too. Of course, David is slightly higher in my rank between the both of them. To be honest, I liked Daughtry when he was on Idol but wasn't really into him. Then when David won, I started to discover Daughtry a little bit more and now....I love him! I love the new album from Daughtry. I love all the songs but my favorite song is Call Your Name. In some dorky way it describes my life before and after David. Not necessarily the words, but the music. The acustic guitar part was my life before David and then when the electric guitars and becomes a little bit more harder rock, that describes my life after David. I know, it's confusing but that's just my opinion.

Both are awesome! Two of my top favorite artists!

I guess my favorite song on "LeaveThis Town" would be a tie between "Open Up Your Eyes" and "You Don't Belong".

My favorite songs from leave this town (after listening to it over and over again) are Ghost of me, What I Meant to say, September and Learn my Lesson.
and have you listen to the bonus tracks.. they're awesome! I liked One last chance and traffic light !

Word Nerd # 3085

Have you heard the new record, Leave This Town? I listen to at least a few songs every day (like DCTR). If you haven't heard it yet, you can listen to it on daughtryofficial.com. My favorite song is Call Your Name. Chris' vocals are beautiful and then toward the end of the song, they break out in a full-on rock instrumental. It's surprising the first time, but now when I listen to it, I'm kinda waiting for that moment.

BTW, Chris says "September" is his favorite song on the record. If you haven't heard it yet, that's where the title of the record comes from. There's a line where he says "I knew we ought to leave this town..."

So what's your favorite song?
