What? What happened to just getting together to celebrate the album release? What about raising money for ACS? How do you know how many people were coming? Why did Best Buy pull out? A big city like Chicago and we can't get enough support for a party? Sorry, this is just baffling to me.

Stacey, Corinne and I are sorry to inform all of you that this event has been cancelled.

Best Buy pulled out, and there wasn't enough interest for the size of the venue.

I hope this doesn't inconvenience anyone who was planning to attend, and I hope to meet everyone at a future David Cook event!

-Maria

I ALSO POSTED THIS ON THE OTHER FORUM. LAST CALL FOR PEOPLE IN THE NORTHWEST SUBURBS WHO WOULD LIKE TO TAKE TAXI/LIMO TO THE PARTY. I CHECKED THE PRICE OF BOTH AND THEY ARE VERY EXPENSIVE. REALLY DON'T WANT TO DRIVE. PLEASE LET ME KNOW SOON. SADLY OUR ATTENDANCE IS IN JEOPARDY BECAUSE ITS JUST TOO MUCH $$. THANKS!

hey --i posted on the main forum but i wanted to post here too. i am going with my friend if anyone is interested in car pooling i live in Berwyn which is a suburb wwest of the city. let me know Smiling looking forward to meeting new DC friends!!

Stacey,
thanks too for the info on LSD. I don't know how I missed your post eariler!! I just knew that online mapquest thing was making more work for me!Eye-wink Glad to hear I can do LSD, GREAT. Can't wait to meet you! Thanks so much for all your hardwork in putting this gig together!! Now any chance of David showing up? Don't we wish!! Hey btw, he is going to be on The Mix 101.9 tomorrow with Eric and Kathy. I called the station to see if he was going to be in the studio or on the phone and they told me they didn't know.........hmmmm........how could they not know?? I guess it is just on the phone then cause when Archie was coming they made a really big thing about it giving in studio tickets and all. Maybe you should invite Eric and Kathy to the party! Laughing out loud

Cooksgirl - I can give you directions since I live close by. I wouldn't take I-94 to Armitage because it gets very confusing as you go east on Armitage. If you are coming up LSD from the south, then get off at Belmont and go west until you get to Clark, which is one street past Halsted. Turn right on Clark (north) and you will pass the next main street Addison (3600 North) which is at Wrigley Field. The bar is probably several blocks north of Addison. If you are taking LSD from the north, get off at Irving Park Road (4000 North) and go west until you hit Clark. Then turn left on Clark and go several blocks south and you will be at the bar. I don't know about parking but I assume its not easy around there. Street parking is hard to find. Maybe you should call Trace and ask them.

Hope that helps.

Laura,

Take LSD and get off at Irving Park Rd. Take Irving Park Rd west until you get to Clark St, then make a left to go south on Clark St. Continue down Clark til you get to 3714. If you go past Wrigley Field (Addison) you have gone too far. Trace is on the west side of the street. Park on Clark, if you can. If you can't find parking, go to McDonald's. You can park in their lot, but you have to go inside and purchase it at the counter. They will give you a card to put in your windshield so you won't get towed.

Awesome!

I'll totally be there, since it's in my 'hood and all. I could even walk it -- if it isn't too cold, that is. Eye-wink

Stacey,
I did a google map for directions. I know about the vacinity of this but has been years since I have been up partying on Clark Street, LOL!! It is not giving me the Lake Shore Drive way. Wants me to get off on Armitage from !-94 and drive up Ashland. I know I would probably be closer if I went via LSD. My grandmother lives up by Belmont and Western. I am thinking this is not too far from her house? I get off on Western though to go to her house. I have taken LSD there though too. So what is the main crossroad to Clark. I am thinking that LSD would be best? Also is there parking up there. I remember way back when that parking was scarce up there do they have their own lot?? Thanks for any info. Can you pm me your cell phone # in case I get lost. Thanks. Laura

Check out the new flyer!

Anyone know the area enough to give me some ideas on a hotel? I'm coming with some friends from Milwaukee and we definitely would prefer to stay overnight but I really don't know the area very well. Any ideas would appreciated!

Stacey, that is wonderful news!! Hope you guys don't mind an old lady out with you all, LOL!! Sounds like so much fun!!

Sounds great Staci! I'm still looking for replies from the group as far as where people plan on staying. I guess I'll just drive if nothing else works out.

I am so excited for this party! It sounds great. Kudos for getting an advance copy of the CD

We will be releasing something more "official" and detailed soon, but I heard from the label yesterday and they promised me an advance copy of the cd to play at the party as well as promo posters to give away!

There are a LOT of great surprises that we're still working out, but you do NOT want to miss this party! TRUST me! It is going to be amazing! Monday, November 17th, 2008 at 8pm.

So where is everybody staying that night? Are you 'out of towners' planning on taking a taxi to a hotel? Because I don't think there are any hotels around there. Tis my dilemma. Husband would not want me staying in the city [$]. So I'm thinking of hiring a limo for the night if anyone else is interested. I really want to go, but I'm just not sure I can pull this off. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Stacey any update on what the night will hold?

It's all go for me here in Bloomington. I will be up there on the 17th. I got the 18th off of work, so no worries there, & Wednesday's are my day off...so I may just stay up in Chicago for a couple days...WOO HOO!!

AHHH! I finally got my log in to work on this site..I will hopefully be there Laughing out loud

i'd come, with or w/o the advanced copy

I laugh at myself while the tears roll down....

Any news on getting a promo copy for the party? Just curious. Also...if anyone has maybe any press releases they're sending to local radio stations up there. I live in Central Illinois, and I know that when things like this go on up in Chicago they tend to broadcast the little press releases about it down here in case anyone is interested. I'd be willing to submit them the the stations down here if anyone's got anything of the sort for me to send. Just let me know, & keep me posted! Smiling

Peace, Hope, & Love

Oh wait, this is for 21+? If so, I can't come. Sad

This is such a great idea, Stacey! I'm really thinking about coming. Smiling It'll so be worth the 4 hour drive.

I live in Chicago and would come by. I'd love it if there was an advance copy of the CD ! I could probably recruit 2 or 3 people to come.

I'm from Bloomington/Normal, IL...I'm planning on being up there. I just need to figure out my sleeping situation...there's no way I'm driving back down after the party. If there's anyone from the Central Illinois area, or the areas in between Blo/No & Chicago maybe some of us can get a caravan goin'!

I will definitely come, its sounds great! I don't need to hear the CD before it comes out at midnight. I do have a question though. If Sony won't let us get the CD in advance, does that mean we won't get to hear the CD at all at the party, or only after midnight?

Thanks!

I'm in Milwaukee but have already recruited approx. 4 people, plus myself, who are willing to drive out there for this. Once there are confirmed details, I plan on spreading the word. The fact that any and all money raised would go to the ACS is amazing and endears me to the cause!

I forgot to mention that Trace is 21 and over. Our sincere apologies to anyone younger that wanted to come. Sad

I will be there no matter what. 30 people is nothing. No problem. I know of 3 besides me that want to come.

I spoke with the venue we were interested in and they are willing to let us have the party FREE OF CHARGE and they will let us donate the entire door cost to the American Cancer Society. I'm talking to Sony about possibly getting an advanced copy of the cd to play. We are basing our decision on what we can get for the party (we want the cd for sure, plus promo stuff to give away and things to raffle off). We have to make the decision (venue's deadline) by next Monday.

If this happens, the party will be at Trace in Chicago on Monday, November 17 from 8pm-1am. WE STILL HAVE TO CONFIRM WITH THE VENUE ON MONDAY! So this is still tentative.

Check out the venue here: www.tracechicago.com

Once we confirm, if possible, please let all your Chicago friends know this party is happening. In order to get the venue for free, we need at least 30 people to show up.

Here's the big question: Who wants to come? Would you only come if you could hear the cd before it comes out at midnight? Would you come even if we couldn't get an advance copy of the cd?

I'll keep you all updated on the progress.

I will definitely be attending.

Waiting on pins and needles for the details! I'd like to find a few people from the western 'burbs to split a cab/limo with? Send me a message if you're interested.

We are waiting to hear back from a few venues, but we're pretty sure that it will be in the Lakeview/Wrigleyville area.

We have exciting news coming in the next few weeks. Please keep checking back for the latest details!

Also, if you want to be added to the mailing list to HELP ORGANIZE, please PM me.

Thanks!

I am so in!! This is such a wonderful Idea. So happy it is a weekday! Where is SmartBar? I will google it. I do hear TOML on 101.9 and 96.7 all the time. I am sure one of them may help us out?? Oh this is so exciting!!

--
David Cook Is My Midlife Crisis!! WN#1869

Got your message, thanks Vicki!

Stacey - I think I sent you a PM last night about helping out with the party, but I wasn't sure I was doing it right. I clicked on your name and then wrote a message. Where do you pick up PMs? Did you get mine? My user name is MissV520, but I signed it Vicki, my first name.

I would definitely be down with a listening party, since I live in the city and all.

I like it, don't flove it, but I think it'll be a big hit.

and who should we be calling to request it on the radio, other than 101.9 ... what other stations do you guyz listen to?

julie

I laugh at myself while the tears roll down....

If anyone is interested in helping out, please PM me your email address and I will add you to our mailing list. We're having a meeting on Sunday to start to put our ideas into motion. We have a lot of random connections (label reps, merch dealers, etc) and I have a feeling this will end up being really cool!

In your message also include where you're from and if you plan to attend and if you're bringing anyone. Once we get a venue we're going to have to promote this as much as possible!

This is so exciting!

PS, I love Light On, how about you guys?!

Oh my gosh... the Smart Bar! I haven't been there in... never mind. Anyway great idea. Yeah, the Mix is the best station to contact in my opinion. They play TOML often and their music is just the right mix. [no pun intended]. If you need help let me know. I'm relatively free during the day and my being somewhat more advanced in age might be helpful. Smiling

The north side is the most likely place for this to happen. They have a ton of bars and stuff. I am in contact with a friend who used to work for BMG and has a lot of friends working for Sony. She's going to find out more info and I'll keep you posted. From the looks of things this will have to be a 21+ event. Only because there really aren't any all-ages places that could host something like this.

--
staceysigpic

I would vote that it should be on the north side of the city. That is where most of the bars are I think and good public transportation. Plus I live on the north side so I guess I am biased. The Smart Bar is in Lakeview I think?

I'd prefer somewhere near public transportation (if I have someone(s) to travel with). I hate driving into the city if I can at all help it. But for David, well I probably would.
