David on ESPN2 (NEW SONG premieres/used in baseball montage!!)
I thought I would make a new thread for this, even though it is all over DWoP...for those who don't always get to or through that thread!
Anyway, for those who didn't see/hear yet, David's new song "One Second to Change Your Life" is being featured on ESPN2 for their Baseball Tonight post-season montage. Here is the link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yehfRlmLW5o
If anyone happened to see/hear the entire show, could you please post any additional info on what was said following the clip....? was something said about who it was written for?? Thanks!!
Great song.......I love that man's voice.

Great song!!! I sure wish he would put it on the next record or release it as just a single now. College basketball is just starting it would fit well with it, also. I need this on my ipod !!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for posting the link to the Phoenix radio station. Those videos are awesome. The control David has over his voice is amazing.
Finally dave talks about One second to change your life.

Now that you mention Declaration, Aubreylin, the two songs are similar. The first two lines of the chorus of each.
I played the ESPN clip for my 9 year old daughter (already a David Cook fan) and she has proclaimed that OSTCYL is now her favorite David Cook song. Previously, her favorite song was Declaration. Maybe an upbeat song is what is needed to appeal to the younger generation.
It's a really upbeat song. I wonder if David thought of that one second when he was invited to audition for AI, he could have said no, but he said yes, and the rest is history.
We have lots of "one seconds" in life when we make split second decisions. Nice concept for a song.
It reminds me in tone of Daughtry's No Surprise, peppy and upbeat.
Don't know if it will be a single, kind of doubt it, but if so, it might do well. New singles always welcome by me! LOL.
This song is just perfect for what they used it for. I'm SO proud of David!
The sportscaster (stage right) had said that the vid was "on its way to ESPN", and that "we have it here", so I am wondering when/if ESPN might run it and for how often........any thoughts?
Oh my God! i love it. then again who doesn't .

Keep it at the top.
Thank you for posting this. I didn't even know about it. It's so great for David. And, so great for us to hear a new song, and to see it played on ESPN 2. Let's just make ESPN 2 our favorite station!
And thanks for posting the lyrics so we can really appreciate the song.

This one is really good!
I was so excited to hear this last night and had it on my iPod within the hour after hearing it! I love cookified ESPN and the fact that my non-cookified, sports maniac hubby is going to be exposed to some awesome David Cook coming up! Thanks for the lyrics too!
This is some AWESOME ARTWORK by ldynsrch!

zac maloy the co-writer of the song tweeted about it
"Yo a buncha u mentioned '1 secnd to change your life'. yep dc & I wrote it (first song we wrote tgethr). Happy it got to be heard! Thanx!"
on DWOP imogen_ph offered a little correction to the lyrics which i agree with, so here are the lyrics again
One Second to Change Your Life by David Cook & Zac Maloy
A hundred signs
choices at every turn
hours stacking up with time to burn
this road will keep on going it only stops for you
it's up to you so make a move
it only takes one second to change your life
everything can turn
when you blink your eye the day turns to night
one second to change your mind
finally breathe the air that you've held inside
one second to change your life
a million skies and all of them are fake
behind your eyes man you got it made
every guess is young at heart but i've been where you are
((It's the old cliche, take your own today))
it only takes one second to change your life
everything can turn when you blink your eye
the day turns to night
one second to change your mind
finally breathe the air that you've held inside
one second's too long
It only takes one second to change your life
everything can turn
when you blink your eye the day turns to night
one second to change your life
finally breathe the air that you've held inside
one second to Save your life

Antul -- thanks a bunch for your take on the lyrics -- helped a lot! of COURSE they love David Cook -- ESPN is now officially Cookified, I'd say -- he got to them when he did the baseball play by play for them awhile back and it just took some time to get the perfect song to them. GREAT stuff!

Deana: Thanks for the additional link...there is just the tiniest bit more info in it!
I think I have watched the clip fifty times already!
It is awesome that ESPN loves, him. I love that the guy said ..."love David Cook", after he said that he was a country music fan after they talked about the JayZ -Alicia Keys song.
Also, did you guys notice that the first guy said "David Cook and his group"? I just think it is nice for them to mention the band.... love for the Anthemic!!
Antul: thanks for the lyrics!!!!!!!
Thanks for the links, I was offline yesterday and missed all the excitement. What fun to hear a new song. It's one of the snippets, I think. Now I have to go find the red carpet interview. Sounds like yesterday was a hot day for David and fans.
Thanks for the links everyone! I love it.
the lyrics as i hear them and based on the rough lyrics posted on the cherry lane website

i love it!
Thank you for the links everyone!!
It really seemed like when the sports announcer said "that song was written for a professional athlete" he was saying "that's the perfect song for a professional athlete" not that it was written for a specific athlete. Just my opinion.

I love the song !!!!! Thank you for the links .
darlasull,
Thank you for giving this its own thread. I believe it deserves it!

Deana...Thanks for posting...I LOVE it! It made my night
Your thread just beat me to it! What a great song - a real winner and one headed for the Olympics, too. A real anthem that I hope he starts playing at this leg of the tour. I love David's connection to all sports. And I love that the guys at ESPN love him!
This was a total thrill. We are trying to trend it at twitter : #onesecondtochangeyourlife.
Did the announcer mean that it was literally written for a professional athlete, or was he just saying that it was basically a perfect song to describe a professional athlete. Does that makes sense? I just kind of got the latter vibe.
Either way, the song is perfect for a sports montage. I'm glad that it was left off of DCTR , but I'm ecstatic that David is getting this exposure, especially on ESPN. Sports and David's music are a perfect match, imo.
I was wondering the same thing -- where'd everyone come from? Good grief! This was FUN-- thanks everyone who caught it and posted it.
Ha!
I'm guessing David Wright, based on NO information

Love it! Thanks!
If you're determined to identify which athlete, I'd start with the Royals roster... but I wouldn't limit the search to the last few years, as DC comes across as the sort who knows the team history back to 1969. He'll never confirm or deny guesses, anyway; but it's definitely the sort of song that implies a game-winning home run in the bottom of the ninth, with the bases loaded and the home team seeming hopelessly behind. (And that's NOT a hint about which athlete I think it is! I haven't done the research myself!)
