My only beef with the article, is the part about the Idol audience aka cougars. David's audience is a whole lot more than "cougars" (a term I have become to loath). They are but one segment of the DC's fanbase. I wish they'd not pigeonhole him, and to that notion, as I am of that age range, the fact that 19/RCA felt they needed to balance the type of music on David's CD and be careful not to go "too rock", let it be known, Baby Boomers like myself, grew up with the REAL roots of rock N roll music; ie, Zepplin, Stones, Beatles, Cream, Hendrix, Doors, Deep Purple, Creedence, Iron Butterfly, The Who, etc. So Hello RCA???? Don't think you don't want David to walk through that door for us!!! I love what David did on Idol, obviously, but, if in fact your concern is for the Baby Boomer crowd and that you feel you need to go in a lighter direction to appease...I disagree, at least for myself. I say BRING IT, and BRING IT hard! Bring on the ROCK.. We don't know anything else. JMHO

I like this interview because it shows a more real, perhaps even a little bit gritty side of David: the real deal. I love that he gets nervous and wants to "stick it to the man". Like so many here, I am just way proud of him and find myself more and more invested in his success.
Really great Article... I had to steal a few quotes to make a point:
“Backstage, the singer is telling his bandmates he's battling an unexpected case of anxiety. Guitarist Neal Tiemann, a holdover from Cook's pre-Idol band, the Midwest Kings, is surprised. ''You've done more nervous-making things than this,'' he says. No kidding. ''Yeah, in a sense...,'' Cook replies, unable to explain why he's so intimidated by the hundred or so friendly waiting souls. ''I think we're finally a band,'' he says. ''It's something I've been looking forward to for about a year now, just to have a moment where it felt like...well, like it felt a year ago.'' In other words, back when he was still playing clubs — pre-Simon, pre-Archuleta, pre-makeover, pre-king of the world……..

So, my point is this: One of the MANY reasons we all love DC is his Kick Ass rocker attitude that can diminish into an almost anxiety attack because he is so proud of he and his friends. I know he thinks he can be ironic (with his song Mr. Sensetive), but he really is "Mr. Sincere" and that alone makes him the sexiest rocker out there. Plus, there is just this crazy little feeling I get when I hear/see him curse (IE: The middle finger and the raspberry to the A&R peeps)- what can I say, he IS a ROCK STAR!
I love that article, I had seen it before. I had never seen the Idolatry video interview on the 3rd page and just loved it. Thanks for posting.

I absolutely loved this. This guy is going to move past the AI stigma sooooooo fast! As I said during the show after he did Billie Jean, he doesn't need AI anymore. They now need him!
