Okay, to my understanding.
you know how on facebook, you tell your friends 'What's on your mind?'
I think twitter is just that telling people what's on your mind and they respond.
Twitter sounds like fun ;however, i'm partial to facebook more.

Now you start typing in messages! And you should start finding some more folks to follow. The more you find and follow, the more conversations you'll see, and thus the more opportunities you'll have to contribute to the ongoing conversations. Since you're already following LeaveTheLightOn, you could look at the list of folks he's following, and see if there are DCO names you recognize. Then you can start following those folks, and many of them will follow you back.

Yeah it's sort of like this. It's kind of like Instant Messaging and a message board all wrapped into one. It's an instant message that lots of people can see.
I say it's pretty safe, because if someone starts following your tweets (which is like friending you on myspace or facebook), and you don't want them following you, you can choose to block them. And if you *really* want your privacy, you can lock your twitter page so only people following you can see your tweets. Otherwise anyone with a twitter account can see them.

It's not a dumb question at all. Yes it's safe. There's an option of protecting your tweets. That means only the people that are following you can see your tweets. Other stangers can't. When someone tries to follow you, you are allowed to reject or accept them. You're basically in control of your page. Try not to put your exact location though.

Twitter is a free service that lets you communicate with people using messages of 140 characters or less. It's basically text-messaging using the computer instead of your phone....although you *can* use your phone if you want to. if you go to the twitter website (www.twitter.com) they have things you can look at to introduce you to the service and learn how it works.
