Call David at 816-463-4003
1%?? NO WAY! International Fans Unite! Includes link to Hotspot Shield for access to US-only videos.
Here is an excerpt from Webnerd RCAJosh's blog indicating that only 1% of David's fans are outside the USA.
"WHY IS ____________ U.S. ONLY?!?!?!?!
This is where the music meets the business in the music business, in many countries, we're not cleared to distribute David's content in multiple territories at multiple times on multiple sites. As American Idol is broadcasted in the U.S., that's where 99% of his fan base is hailing from, and it's ultimately the most feasible practice to exclusively premiere content in the country where David lives, tours, is on TV, and has his music distributed. It's our fervent hope that David truly attains the status of an international superstar one day, so while fans have to wait an extra 24-48 hours to have a first look, we're bustin' our behinds to have promotions approved like the live blogging we did at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York City."
Many thanks to Brazilian Wordnerds and others who go out of their way to make various videos and webpages available to us outside of the US.
I appreciate that this website only relies on credible information, won't post events that are only rumoured etc, however, I'm very surprised to hear a 1% statistic quoted and wonder what credible source was used to calculate this number. I'm also surprised that RCA doesn't think David is an international star. AI loves to boast about how the TV show is broadcasted world wide.
So enough ranting. International Fans, make yourselves known. The upcoming tour has to include cities outside the US and as a Canadian, I hope to see some of our cities with large populations included. It's just a hop, skip and a jump from NYC to Montreal or Toronto. Vancouver is an easy drive from Seattle or even San Francisco. Whatever happened to the January tour in the Phillipines that David spoke about on live radio this past summer?
If we make ourselves known, hopefully the Webnerds/RCA will consider this large international fanbase and stop posting "USA-only" embeds. We usually wait a lot longer than 24 - 48 hours and often only get to see it because other computer saavy fans help us out.
Many thanks to those of you who do!

The brazilian cable TV - MTV HITS - started to show LIGHT ON video this week but till yesterday I hadn't the opportunity to watch it.
I turn on the tv at this channel at variuos schedules but was not lucky to see the video.
But yesterday night before went to sleep I decided to turn on my bedroom tv one more time at this channel to make another attempt.
It was 11 pm, and they were starting to show the 2009 Hits, so I thought... maybe they will show LO on the hits...
became totally crazy at so much happiness to see David and Light On for the first time at my TV.

hey hey hey!
i'm a Filipino and DC is freaking FAMOUS here!!
even the ones who don't watch and know AI know him because of ABMB and TOML..

The Light On video started to be showed at a cable TV this week !
I guess when he CD will be released here - seem to be in March - it will be BLASTING SUCCESS !

I am an American and have access to all that stuff but I am so annoyed that so much of it is unavailable outside the US. American Idol is broadcast to way more than just the US and, as anyone reading this thread can see, there are David Cook fans all over the world. He even has some in Saudi Arabia! I recently sent a CD to a woman in Italy who could not even buy it there. What's up with that? I don't get it. David could be an international star very quickly if the videos and cds and everything else was available around the world. Like some other fans in the US, I never even saw him on AI. I found him on youtube! People around the world could and would do the same. I can't imagine what E19 is thinking! He needs to do a concert in the Philippines and Brazil and England and Singapore and Argentina and Canada at the very least. Of course I want him touring here, but international fans need a chance to go see him, too. I hope the powers that be wake up to this soon. The sky is the limit for him.
Hello! Argentinean fan here!!
We, the International fans are only 1 % of David's fan base??? That's not true!! As far as I'm reading here, we represent more than just 1%.
I'm getting upset. We, the International fans, represent much more than a cold number or percentage written on a statistic!!
To the people from RCA, Josh and whoever may it concern: let me tell you that behind those numbers you so carelessly have written on papers and charts are people's hopes, dreams, music taste, etc. We are not just a number!!.
As one of the managers of the first David's fans club in Spanish I will tell you: two months ago we uploaded our web page: www.cookiesmosqueteers.com (you all are invited to have a look at it). We have put a lot of effort, time, love, affection and admiration to David in it, in order to have the chance or the opportunity to get closer to him and some day see him performing here. We are also doing an intensive promotional work trying to make David well known around Latin America. Our members are not only from Argentina, they are also from Costa Rica, Mexico, Venezuela and some other countries. All of them are very proud of being David's fans and are doing all they can to get him promoted as the high quality artist he is. It seems that all this effort and dedication just represents a cold number for you.
Unfortunately, all our attempts to get in touch with label record companies (here and there) have been in vain. Does it mean that David does not deserve to be known worldwide and that his talent is exclusively for American people? Taking into account that American Idol as a reality show is broadcasted worldwide, the world has the right to have his crowned Idol performing at the most important cities and also being played on radios. It seems to me that when it comes the time to take into facts what they have been selling, they just back off because we only represent 1% of the fan base. That does not sound fair to us. We also contribute to American Idol's worldwide success. What would have happened if nobody outside the US watched the show?? I think that at this time it would have been very difficult for them to sell the current season......
We are not going to give up. Not at all!! Our motto says: "One for all and all for Cookie", so we are not quitters and we are used to adversity. . We are patient people and we won't give up until we have David performing in Argentina. We have plenty of time.
The most important thing for all of us and what matters the most is that WE LOVE DAVID AND HIS MUSIC.
That's all I have to say.
Hugs & Kisses

A 1% statistic is a bit ridiculous. However, I think I can understand why they'd say that. A lot of David's fans DO NOT POST on message boards in the US. They are fans, but the people in DCO, the dash and AI.com and WNH are a very small percentage of the TOTAL fan population. However, because RCA, David, his team and Sony/19E are in fact based in the States, they can see he has MANY fans in the grassroots, whether active online or not.
So if the 1% statistic comes from international fans on DCO versus EVERY other fan in th USA, then I can understand why it's only 1%. However, that is not a fair assessment, because just like in the US, David has tons of fans outiside the US who buy and listen and would go to concert opposed to the small percentage who post.
Hopefully, international sales of DCTR will help the label see that he does have support. For example, look at the Brazilian Word Nerds, and the Pinoy Word Nerds. They're a forced to be reckoned with!
If David flew to the Philippines, I ASSURE you, you will get fans flying in from Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia at the very least. I say this with confidence because when David first let it slip, we were already planning.
Furthermore, now that Idol S7 is over, is he still not allowed to to have his content aired? You can't stop David from being shown through Ellen or Jimmy Kimmel or CNN here. My lack of knowledge in how his contract works not withstanding, we already lose out in terms of intimate-setting-appearances and college tours, the least that could be done is to allow us to share premiere moments with our US based counterparts.

I have an idea!!! Why don't we get organize by location and maybe all of us form the Caribbean may demand a concert in one of our islands... Bellas Artes in San Juan, Puerto Rico anyone? Please send me a PM all of you who are interested in demand a concert in a small venue, and are willing to travel a few miles, there is a website where we can make our demand be heard. I need to find the link and will post later. mmmkay?

"I feel alive beside you and all at once I am whole again..." Avalanche by David Cook.
I'm form Puerto Rico, which is currently a U.S.A territory, meaning we are US citizens, but I don't think that for the purposes of this analysis we are consider US, I think we are consider international fans. I take it because DCTR has not been released officially here. I got two copies form the internet and itunes, but I keep going to Walmart to buy my copy form the store (and to shamelessly rearrange the shelves so that people get to see his album form the "what's New/Hot" section, but still DCTR is not in stores yet.... So disappointing.
But to be fare, I don't know many people in Puerto Rico who know who David Cook is. I'm trying to "cookiefied" all my friends but still maybe 1% of the population here who watches American Idol got to followed his career. I know for sure that if I want to see him perform live I'm gonna have to make the trip to any of the states. So unfair....

"I feel alive beside you and all at once I am whole again..." Avalanche by David Cook.
Hi to all!!!!
1%???That is so not possible.Just go to the fanzone and you will see in everypage there are 2-3-4 people from outside USA per pager.
EmmaUKfan, you are soooo right... and we are still there despite the fact that probably many of us will never have the chance to go to a single concert... Oh, that suddenly made me sad...
BTW, there's a little software called Hotspot Shield that makes this "annoying" sites like AOL or VH1 believe that you are located in US. It's very easy to use if you want to try it. And believe me, it works (I've used it). The things that I do for DC...

1% in DCO only? That's possible, cause truthfully, this site is a lil difficult to manage.. and most people don't go to forums because of real life.. I know many people in Indonesia who love Cook, but they just can't speak English. That's a reason.
So, let's ROCK the board!!!
Australia here. American Idol is on Pay-TV here and most Aussies still don't subscribe to Pay-TV. We get American Idol within hours of its airing in the US on our Fox 8 channel. I am in Western Australia currently on daylight savings time and we get the show at 5.30pm on Wednesday and Thursday which translates to 4.30am DCO time. It is then repeated the next day around midday, then on Saturday and and its also being repeated right now, Sunday night.
I too get sick of the sites - VH1, AOL Sessions and others - where we get the "Only available to US" so I have to rely on the youtubey for those ones.
I really wish more Aussies were aware of DC and I would so love him to come here though I don't hold out much hope for that.

JUST 1% ACCORDING TO WHO EXACTLY?!?!?!?!?!
That is SO NOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT TRUEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
Come ONNNNNN
everyone knows that Micheal Johhns went to the Phillipines and got a HUGE response there!
They think that David wont have that??? HE WON THE SHOW!
AND !!!
AI was ( and Still is!!) broadcasted to Latin America a week later... Well... that was the case on Season 7 but now we just got the first episode NOT EVEN a week later!
and they say we are only 1% of the fan base ( call it what ever you like )... AGAIN! NOT true!
This is just not fair to us International fans !!!!
I THINK THAT IF ANY OF THE INTERNATIONAL FANS IS ABLE TO TALK TO AT LEAST ONE OF THE GUYS OR TO DAVID HIMSELF HE OR SHE SHOULD LET HIM KNOW ABOUT EVERYTHING THAT IS HAPPENING TO US!!!!
IF THE WEB NERDS SAY THAT, LETS SEE WHAT THE MAN HIMSELF THINKS ABOUT THIS!!!!

or maybe just t-shirt competitions or something like that, something signed wouldn't cost them alot.

i would love it if david refered to his international fans in his vlog. we are important. I know the us fans love him but also thinking about it, us internationals are very dedicated, after all we picked him out of all the artists in the whole world to follow. I know that i wouldn't have watched to the end of american idol if it wasn't for him and it took an effort to find the show to watch as it's not broadcast on a main channel over here. so we've put in a lot of effort to follow this guy and thus should be rewarded, hehe! i'm not asking too much am I? lol

I wonder if I can convince my old university alum to try to book him. I know a few ppl on the student union, and even used to work with one of them. That would be fun. I've alos decided if DC does play in Canada, I am so going in a heartbeat. I don't care where it is, but I'm sure going!!

Like for example, contests. It would be wonderful to have contests where international fans can get a chance to travel to the US and go to a DC concert, because it's an opportunity that not many of us can afford, specially considering the crisis that, as you may know, is not only affecting the US, but the entire world.
WOW! That would be really awesome. Not vey probable, though.

There is content we cannot access, like everything iTunes, for example. Even though there are iTunes stores in many countries, as far as I know, in Argentina we're completely left out, so everything AI ever released via iTunes was impossbiel to get for us. There have even been exclusive chats with David that were available for USers only. Ok, I know most of the things we lack are not RCA's fault, but it's still sad, we want to be a part of David's story as much as we can, and we do feel a litle impotent and little...

I'm from Argentina, and like Vero said (user Cookita) here we're a lot!.. We are working so hard to be more close to David.. and we sent a letter to him, and he received it.. and we are happy to be a little bit closer than before.. but it's not enough I guess.. because at least here and in all South America there are a lot of David's fans and and it is not fair that we can't know David or the guys of the band.. and I don't believe that we are only the 1% ..
well.. I hope someday this situation will be reverse..
Thanks for the space!

I've talked to MANY international fans...What about Brazil, Argentina, Philiphines, Mexico, UK, Venezuela, Japon and Costa Rica (where I come from)... that's just to name a few! We're not just a 1%!!
That's false... Picture this: even ARCHIE'S VIDEO is being played here in Costa Rica!! It seem illogical to me that the 2nd place of AI is being more International than the actual winner of the show!

Hi to everybody!!
I can't wait for that day, neither, schnatu!!
Though my problem is that I live in Spain and here... well... NO ONE knows David. So my only hope is that someday he'll do a concert in London or other country in Europe where I can easily fly.
In any way, it'll probably cost me a lot of money and a lot of incomprehension (how do I tell my friends and family that I'm going to another country to see a guy that NO ONE knows here and that he is some guy that won a TV show?) Mmmm...
And BTW, I work on TV here in Spain, so I'm as scared of myself as my friends woukd be if they'd know... LOL
----------------------------------------------------------
Greetings from Spain
Laura.
Hello International fans from a US fan.
I agree that David should perform some concerts outside of the USA. Why, because he is selling well outside of the US (according to Amazon & iTunes), and his Google search index is second only to Kelly Clarkson in the UK. And that is huge, as far as I'm concerned.
And as a fan who wants the best for DC, I feel that he can open for a larger act while he is still a fledgling artist. I really do hope he does some international tours, because touring worldwide will mark the spot for a long and successful career.
Finally, Canada and the Philippines seems to love DC, so I hope he gets there sooner than later.
Keep spreading the DC love!
While I don't think that RCA Josh was being literal when he said 99% of David's fans are in the US, I do think that they are underestimating the amount of support that DC has outside of the US. and how disappointed we are at not being able to see the video clips right away after waiting not-so-patiently along with everyone else. I hate having to hunt through zillions of threads on two sites trying to find where some wonderful person has posted it in a format that I can view. I am also from the Vancouver, Canada area and he is on TV and radio here and has his music distributed here too.
I don't have anything to add because the Pinoy fans here said it all but here's something to read - Click! It's a music expert's testament how big AI and David are in this part of the world.
Apparently there is an International Fans Unite forum at the Dash. It has huge responses, often from Asia. Just more proof that David needs to travel beyond the US boundaries and that videos need to be accessible outside the US.

Another Pinoy fan attesting to the fact that David Cook is a HUGE star in the Philippines. You can hear his songs being played in almost all the radio stations in the country. Need i say more?
WTF???? Really??? That is beyond comprehension!!!! I mean David is like HUGE here!! His CD is selling like hotcakes!!!! And not to mention the not so active fans. We are HUGE... Trust me...
BTW...I'm speaking for Malaysia and Singapore...
Another Canadian (Vancouverite) checking in! Totally agree with besotted, we're a great rock-band venue. And as a bonus, we're only a 45min drive from the US border! hehe
AI has always been broadcast in Canada, and it's just as popular here as it is in the US, so I don't really see how the international fanbase can only be 1%...
DC goes global! methinks so.

When your smile becomes the reason I breathe
And your eyes become the motive to see
Another international fan speaking up from Ontario Canada! Canadians love DAVID!
another Finn here!
and yes, a HUGE thank you to everyone who helps us to see all of the "US only" stuff.
I can't wait for the day when David makes it big enough to have concerts all around the world. Then we get to experience all the fun aswell (:
I'm from Panama, and I've heard speak of him like twice in the radio...The only persons I know that are totally inlove of him is a friend that I've managed to cookified and myself!!.. But I don't give up on hope, that someday he will be recognize here
something that annoys me at the moment was when I heard David Archuleta song Crush like 2 weeks ago in my country, not that I don't think is great but I though that DC was going to be acknowledge before DA,only for the reason that he won AI!...But then I realized DA type of music is more commercial.
Anyway, I haven't given up just yet, He still have a career ahead of himself and sooner or later( I think later) He will be recognized in Latin America, and he will be able to give a concert here in Panama (hopefully). XD

Hi, Swedish fan here from Stockholm. David is not well known here at all. I've never once heard him on the radio or seen the Light On music video on TV. None of my friends know who he is and have told me to stop talking about him. Although the Swedish version of Idol gets a lot of attention and press here, American Idol isn't all that talked about. TV4, which is a national TV channel, have aired AI for a long time but this past season they buried it at odd times, like 11PM, and on different days every week. I think David could do well here because many Swedes like the rock thing and there are some great venues that would suit him well.
American Expat doing what I can to Cookify Russia. It's a big country.
I know Seth has spoken for the Singaporean and Malaysian fans but just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents worth here. I am shocked that international fans only make up 1% of his fanbase and I am finding that very hard to believe. DCTR has been selling very well here in Singapore, being No. 1 on the HMV store charts for about 5 weeks since it has been released (and that's saying something, considering he displaced Britney's Circus and Kanye's new album). American Idol is also very big here and lots of locals tune in to watch it weekly. I really really hope that David will be able to make it to Singapore (or other parts of South East Asia) someday and perform here. We are just as fanatical about David as the US fans are.
Bump!
99% That can´t be right. He is pretty well known over here in Iceland, and Light on made the top 20 on the hottest music station here, and I´ve seen the video played on our music video station. (Despite his album not being out over here *is annoyed at that*
Although I know he will probably never come here (Although he should, the country is beautiful, we have a huge night life scene and he would never be interrupted by fans, lol)
I do hope that he at least plays in London, I think the only place where I could ever hope to be able to travel to see him live.
exactly,Marium! David, come to Asia, it's beautiful, amazing!! we love you sooo much!!
although not expecting a tour here in China any time soon, either. but please, please let me see you perform live before I die! or are you making me fly to America with a walking stick when I'm 70 years old, faint and die there from a heart attack?!! lol

David Cook IS an international star. We are just not fortunate enough to have access to his music directly.
only 1%??
You've gotta be kidding me! I mean seriously? I had to get my copy of the DCTR from the Phillipines. If that doesn't give a hint to how crazy of fans there are outside the US, I don't know what will.
Dear RCAJosh and webnerds

We, international fans, are so grateful to have this website to keep us updated about David Cook. American Idol is a big thing around the world. All the Idols are huge here and many of the non-winners too.
We honestly hope and pray that we are not forgotten. We need David Cook concerts too. It breaks our heart to open up a video or a blog and get rejected with the familiar line: Not available outside US.

<3 the expression, priceless.
I heart David!
As mentioned by the other Filipino fans here... David is loved and adored here in the Philippines... You can hear him everywhere... and we can't wait for him to come and perform for us.. I hope he keeps his word.. I know he will, if not in Jan i bet it'll be sometime this year (*crossing my fingers*)...

Another UK fan here.

I think David would have a great audience here - rock is really popular right now. DCTR is no 43 on UK iTunes rock albums with no promotion at all. Obviously the US will be his primary focus and I appreciate that his TV, radio and live appearances will be based there but on the WORLD WIDE web is it really so hard to let us see a video?

I wouldn't have had my first LO, without the gift thread, DCO and Imogen.
That helped me open my itunes account and I could buy DCTR with a gift card.
Finaly got the CD from a cousin on my birthday (till dec 8 ). And I'm still waiting to find it here in stores!!!

Vancouver, Canada. We are serious lovers of music here on the West Coast of Canada. We have produced many stellar musicians through our local music scene and would be a really great location (hint, hint) for a "grassroots" type of tour. We are a very lively audience! Ask any Rock Band that has performed here!
Come on everyone, stand up and be counted!!! We know you are out there!
Hello from Estonia,
so far nobody knows him here, except those, who know me...
at least so far have not seen album sold here (had to wait mine from amazon uk more than 3 weeks) . Asked from at the record shop, that do they have DC n their database, nope - they did not.
So waiting patiently to hear him first time from the radio... I have no doubts that he will be huge here too!!! It just takes time.
If he is not coming to Tallinn, then see you in Helsinki!
And yes, keep us posted, too!
