** NOTE ** SPECIAL NOTICES (e.g., CELLCAST/WEBCAST INFO, etc.), UPDATES, etc.
WILL BE POSTED IN THE FIRST PINNED REPLY TO THIS THREAD

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey everyone! I thought I'd create a discussion thread for each stop of the Declaration Tour in an effort to keep the boards organized and help everyone more easily find info related to each event (and have a record of everything in one place for anyone wanting to look back on these events sometime in future). The following is how these threads will work (subject to change):
>> Thread pinned to the top of or on the main David Cook Discussion forum for 24-48 hrs
>> Thread moved and pinned to the top of or on the main Tour Talk forum for 24-48 hrs
>> Thread moved to its respective regional Tour Talk forum
If, for some reason, a thread isn't moved right away, it will be eventually.
What should be posted here? Related local radio/tv/press, on-site reports/photos, live blogging, recaps, media and fan reviews, links to related blogs, event photos/videos, etc., etc.
Please post links to photos instead of embedding them and please disable graphic footers as this will make the thread easier to read (especially when live blogging). Regarding PRE-SHOW sound check and set list spoilers, please either PM me the info so that I may post it as hidden text in the first pinned reply or, alternatively, if I am not hosting or not here for whatever reason, then please post the spoilers to a blog and link that blog back to this thread in your reply.
As always, I welcome comments/questions, as well as info, via PM. Thank you. ~Lisa
Great, great show last night in Lansing. My daughter and I came up a little later than planned as RL got in the way, but it worked out well. No lines, and we had purchased upgrade seats so we got something to eat and watched the first band (they were entertaining but I have no idea who they were). We decided to see how close we could get to the stage while they were setting up for Needtobreathe, and amazingly we ended up as close as I have ever been...third row Andy side with mostly young girls in front of us. Needtobreathe was a lot of fun and warmed our group up nicely. I told my daughter that the crowd was gonna be good last night, and we really had a rockin" time. I haven't seen David and the band since February and they have really come together as a group since then. Plus there really is nothing quite like an outdoor show...great setlist...wonderful crowd...and memories for a lifetime.
Just wanted to thank everyone for all the wonderful pictures & videos and for the great recaps. It really makes us who cannot be there fill like we were. I love when he is in a chatty mood. Everyones picutures and videos are so great not sure who's to watch first. I was kind of surprissed that he never had an Elephant ear before I thought they were a staple at fairs. At least they are here in Ohio and I guess also in Michigan.
Davidgotmecooked Thanks for the kindness it is much appreciated.
Glad that you and your son had a great time and congratulations to you and your son for meeting and getting a picture with Dave.
I don't know if anyone has posted the link to this Straight Ahead from tracyr627: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QY9Q9yLw0Y0
Check her channel for other videos.
Mitzi really good pics . You and your son those are such cute pics.
And I thank everyone for those videos!! : )
What a treat!!
I don't know if there is a video of this yet or not, but one of the signs said "U turn my light on" and he said that back to them. Then I guess the person put the sign down and back up like he didn't see it and he was like "And you still turn my light on" haha.
Another sign said David C you rock or something and he said he was glad they had the C because there could be plenty other Davids. That's when he asked how many Davids there were and called the girl a liar. He said something like "Let's not start with relationship out with a lie..."
Before Needtobreathe I think (who were pretty good!) I saw him go into the tent by the stage. I kept looking over there to see him come out and he did but this time he was trying to hide like he looked like he was when he entered. I didn't take a picture from some reason, then someone noticed him too and yelled and everyone started taking pictures. I just took one since my friend couldn't see him.
Right before he left to where we couldn't see him, he spit straight above him and walked away. Some guy was like "YEAH! That's what girls love!" haha.
VERY nice pictures mitziblum! The ones of you and your son with David turned out GREAT. High-five your son for being brave enough to just walk up and say Hi! It resulted in great pictures for the both of you. Thanks for sharing.
Okay, here are the pictures I promised -- including the one of my son and myself with Daivd Smiling
Just got up bleary eyed from last night. My wonderful hubby is downloading videos, but I see you guys have all beat me to it:) Please tell me someone got David punting the beach ball off the stage? This is crazy, if it's not posted I will put it on. That and Joey kicking it and knocking the poor girl next to me right in the face with the one he kicked (LOL). David was in a very chatty mood last nigh -- good for us. I will post my pictures shortly (as soon as I can figure out how to do that DUH). My 12 year old did me proud -- got some GREAT pictures of all the guys -- great close ups of Dave! Will be back in a few with link!
mitziblum, I loved your recap! Kids never seem to have any qualms about walking up to people and saying hi. I know I couldn't have done it. lol. Doesn't surprise me at all that David was willing to take the picture with y'all. He wouldn't say no to a kid Sticking out tongue
"If I could have a super power, I'd like the ability to...fly...so I can, you know?...soar...with...the birds."
Delurking to say thanks for all the awesome videos and recaps. I abandoned my Common Ground plans for RL and I can't believe what an incredible show you all saw! Love seeing David in these outdoor venues and can't wait for Allegan in September. I had to chuckle as I saw the banter from last night...I was munching on a stale Elephant Ear my son brought home from our local cherry festival yesterday as I was waiting for the first videos to appear. Too funny! Certainly won't miss this festival next year if David comes back!
We'll all sing along.....
I just want to add my thanks to that of LadyBirdSF. All the work that goes into these threads is so appreciated as it gives fans in other countries a chance to share David's journey. Also want to say "Welcome Back Pattie". You and your 'contributions' have been missed Smiling
The concert was amazing! It's my third and I have to say the best one yet. Kristen and Tracy, your videos are like being right there. Thanks for posting them.
I just posted a blog on the concert if anyone cares to read it.
Oh my, that was the night for banter. The near-riot at the threat to play IJDIYAT was topped only by the bit about going over where the person wanted him to. No, "how poetic is that?" topped both of those. He was right when he said back in... FEBRUARY... that he wasn't good at banter back then. Didn't agree at the time, but this is way better.
Joey's calisthenics at the end of KOTN are quite impressive. Joey's going to open his own franchise of chiropractors.
Ah, the shorter snippet of HC reappears in KOTN.
WOHWWS is so much better outdoors... that song's so violent it bounces off walls if there are walls to bounce off. (It's the choice of all the best walls that need bouncing. Or would ceilings be more appropriate, give the imagery?)
Whoa! That was a blazing IJDIYAT. Best of what little is available on video now (GREAT job, tracy5627 and Kristen8108, both for excellent sound and for capturing what's happening on stage) -- and it sure plays as the best version of the song that I've seen so far.
I just want to say that this was probably one of the best concerts I have ever seen. David did such a brilliant job I just can't even describe it. He was much funnier than I ever would have thought, with his random talking. I LOVED IT!
Thanks for the reviews and vids, looks like it was a fun show!
Wow, he was chatty last night. Maybe a day of rest and golf and the fair was good for him. Maybe the sugar from the elephant ears.
Love how he says little tidbits like the Tulsa Festival not letting him on the bill. They probably would beg him to come there now.
Well, you all got Died in Your arms, but at least in chattanooga we didn't have the hat. I like tshirts better on him, too.
Fantastic banters here this morning! He's so lovely and charming.
It`s sometimes really painful not to be able to be there with everyone seeing him live! This is why I`m so grateful to all of you sharing those gorgeous videos! Thank you all together!
It sounds like it was a terrific night! I love the pics with David and Neil together. Such a contrast! Dave looks like he's doing a Woody Guthrie concert and Neil looks like the classic hard core rock star. When concerts collide! Another WTF moment--and that's what we love about him.
OMG! Just got back from my marathon DCO day. What an AHH-MAZ-ING day! Started out leaving earlier than expected because we heard there were people who camped out overnight and were afraid we wouldn't have a good view (Boy was I wrong!). Got lost in Downtown Lansing and ended up parking in a parking structure. Took a walk down the street with my son an ran into hotel where CCF (fellow DCO'r) was staying. We were meeting up to hang at the concert together, so I called her and found out that DAVID was staying in hotel, but had left earlier in the morning. We went into lobby an waited for CCF and her family to come down. About 10 minutes after entering, Kyle walked by and I said to my 12 yr old son "that's his drummer." He said, gee Mom, maybe we will see David. I thought no way, but let's keep an eye out on the cars out front. About 10 minutes later a vehicle pulls up and out pops Andie and Joey. I just abou lost it at this point. Looked at my son and said "no way is David with them." No sooner did I get this out of my mouth did he say "Mom, there he is." He had walked to the back of the vehicle to get his golf clubs out (they had been out golfing together). My son walked out front and Joey said "hey due what's up." I wish I was 12 and that brave! He walked right up to David and said hi and asked if he could get a picture with him. David said sure and followed my son into the lobby. It was all I could do to take the picture without totally shaking (it came out great) and then asked if he wouldn't mind taking one with me Smiling I GOT IT!!!!! I will post that one tomorrow along with the shots from the show. Somehow by the grace of God we ended up right up against the rail directly in front of David. Suffice to say my son took some great pictures, and I was able to videotape at least 5 songs (that I can remember -- I stil seem to be on a DC high!). Great to see a bunch of fellow DCO'rs there -- big hellos and hugs to CCF, crazy4you, swanny, and those of you I met tonight and can't recall your profile names. Great night -- will be hard to outdo this one, but hopefully September will hold more of the same!
We are the music makers,
And we are the dreamers of dreams.
Just got home. I will tell you that was one of the best setllist so far---well that's my opinion anyway.
Energy was fantasic tonight on and off the stage. What a show and the crowd was crazy for our David You could see how humbled he was by all the fanfare for him. I gotta tell you we were loud. I am pretty brain dead or I would give you a full recap. Just suffice it to say I am in davaheaven right now.
Plus a new friend (one of several) that I made tonight from DCO has given me tix for tomorrow's show. I believe my sis will go with me. Thx Swanny. See you tomorrow.
This board is awesome and I have met so many wonderful people.
You should all be proud of me. I have totally Cookified my sister (David A fan) my 2 nieces (Daughtry fans) and we listened to Analog Heart all the way home. They couldn't get enough.
Seems they like our BF almost as much as we do now! David that's all you have to do is get out there. Buddy, you sell yourself. Nuf said.
I am ready to hit the bed with my precious thoughts from tonight. Talk to you tomorrow.
Back at the hotel after a fantastic concert. Even though we got there after the gates opened, we were still right behind the front row. This is the closest I've ever been.
NEEDTOBREATHE was better than I thought it would be, but it's still not David Cook and the band. The difference in the three bands we saw tonight is huge. EEB are an incredible band.
David was in great spirits tonight. He loved the large crowd and said that he added a song that wasn't on the setlist because he didn't want to leave the stage. He then proceeded to sing Straight Ahead. Beach balls were constantly being thrown back and forth and David and Joey were kicking them around. Fans threw heart sunglasses on stage and David put them on.
He did the Hotel California during KOTN and that was great. He was cracking up at various signs. He asked how many Davids were in the audience and some woman screamed. He told her that she lies since she is a girl, he then went on to say, speaking of Lie and was going to start singing it, but was still cracking up from the whole exchange, so it took him a minute to recover. Lie was gorgeous as usual.
IJDIYAT was incredible close up. There are just no words to describe the sexiness of the whole performance. He announced that he will be singing Declaration on ESPN on Monday. I wonder if it's the new single, but who knows.
We did stop after the concert to get Elephant Ears since David said it's his new favorite food. I've never tried them either. They were great and the kids loved them.
Here are some photos from the concert.
http://s338.photobucket.com/albums/n414/marie2800/
Eilonwy, "I'm All Ears" is a perfect name! Next thing you know this thread will have David Cook in another venture.
DCisloved:
i'm so sorry for your loss. my heart goes out to all of your loved ones
The concert was amazing!!! I loved it all. There were so many annoying people by me and I got hit by those beach balls at least 5 times but oh well.
He added Straight Ahead because he didn't want to get off the stage, he loved us.
He said there was a fair like this one in Oklahoma and they would never let him play so he called them bastards hahaha.
I never knew that elephant ears weren't made everywhere! He loves them though.
There were a lot of funny things. I loved all the songs he sang. It was such a good concert. He came down off the stage a little bit right in front of me too.
ferncall quoth:
Some of the concert banter--
David Cook likes elephant ears so much that he would like to start a franchise. And asks if that would be possible.
Presumably to be called "I'm All Ears"?
