WILL BE POSTED IN THE FIRST PINNED REPLY TO THIS THREAD

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey everyone! I thought I'd create a discussion thread for each stop of the Declaration Tour in an effort to keep the boards organized and help everyone more easily find info related to each event (and have a record of everything in one place for anyone wanting to look back on these events sometime in future). The following is how these threads will work (subject to change):
>> Thread pinned to the top of or on the main David Cook Discussion forum for 24-48 hrs
>> Thread moved and pinned to the top of or on the main Tour Talk forum for 24-48 hrs
>> Thread moved to its respective regional Tour Talk forum
If, for some reason, a thread isn't moved right away, it will be eventually.
What should be posted here? Related local radio/tv/press, on-site reports/photos, live blogging, recaps, media and fan reviews, links to related blogs, event photos/videos, etc., etc.
Please post links to photos instead of embedding them and please disable graphic footers as this will make the thread easier to read (especially when live blogging). Regarding PRE-SHOW sound check and set list spoilers, please either PM me the info so that I may post it as hidden text in the first pinned reply or, alternatively, if I am not hosting or not here for whatever reason, then please post the spoilers to a blog and link that blog back to this thread in your reply.
As always, I welcome comments/questions, as well as info, via PM. Thank you. ~Lisa
I'm new to this whole posting comments thing, but have been wanting to find the set list from David's Mahnomen show, and finally found it here, plus so much more, so I thought I'd add a few comments!
It has been SO fun to watch the videos people took that night! That was the first time I have had the opportunity to see David in concert, and it was SO awesome!! He is going to be in Fargo, ND at the end of August, and I am so looking forward to it! This man is so very talented and so nice, it's an honor to be a fan!
Thank you all for posting your pictures and videos from the night David was in Mahnomen. Seeing them and especially watching them makes me feel like I'm there all over again! I love it!!
Jen is the ultimate Total Video Goddess... the entire show, with excellent sound quality (you were apologizing for this?), labeled in correct running order, and with the whole band in many shots. (I saw Andy! No one ever shows Andy!)
TWIK + Heroes: One advantage of truly well-done video is getting to appreciate how that opening worked. Sure looked good from out here. (Whoa! Is that an Andy close-up?)
Mr. S: Oops... I'm distracted by admiration for Neal's jacket.
BT: I vote for "man-oh-man" as the correct pronunciation. But I'm doing it to be annoying.
Lie: I'm surprised the deal with the necklace and doing the first half of Lie in the dark isn't getting more buzz as a Great Concert Moment.
KOTN: Joey gets excellent lift and hang time at 1:58 and revolves at 2:56. Revolving is good. Fake out! Calisthenics and HC.
Make Me: Best banter ever.
BBS: Circulation problems?!? This was the banter show.
IJDIYAT: OMG -- I've learned never to drink while watching banter, but the necessity to not sit on anything that can be fallen off... this may edge up on the extraordinary version a couple nights ago. The song's a show in itself.
LO: Best version I've seen in ages.
ADAM: So do other guitar players read a code in the orientation of the guitar pick on the forehead?
Notable of the night: Make Me (which is rarely clear on video), Lie (on Great Moment grounds), IJDIYAT, LO (edging out CBTM). DC's not kidding about this being one of the best overall shows.
Thanks for your pics, Bav. I don't have time to look right now (must.sleep.), but you know I will!
lvmyHBYandDC, How's this for a screencap of the arms for you?
And on IJDIYAT, I'm not sure what he's doing! I noticed it last night, too, and had the same strange thought as you. He was in a goofy mood last night, I think.
ETA: Here is Light On and ADAM. It may be difficult to see, but the "dagger"/light stick makes an appearance again as the boys come back out on stage before Light On.
Hurrah!!! Jen, your vids show that FINALLY the light and sound tech for this tour is living up to the performance level of DC and EEB -- wow!!!! I'm thrilled -- this looks and sounds like a major act now, and that's as it should be - I felt like the guys were working their butts off and it just wasn't getting transmitted/balanced/amplified correctly, and it wasn't just mediocre vids - too consistently muddy for that. THIS is a major improvement -- KEEP this sound guy!!!
Northeast Missouri Cougar #40 N (non-predatory!) www.david-cook.org
great videos - someone needs to get a still shot of Lie on about .45 for the arm thread when he's putting the necklace on
He looks so cute in DIYAT at about 6:13 but then he does something??? Does he smell his underarm as a joke (died in your arms)?
Alright guys, my videos are uploading. The first one is up (TWIK and Heroes), but may be still processing.
Watch my YT channel for the rest.
twik, I don't know that I'd say there were an abnormal number of seniors in the audience, at least that I saw. There weren't really any around us, so I'm unable to gage a reaction.
Jen, thanks so much for your time and effort. No apology necessary for the quality of the sound. We sincerely appreciate anything we can get. Looking forward to the vids.
Nice pics, and a new one for the bromance thread, of David and Andy! I can't wait to see the vids, especially of Lie. I heard that there were a lot of seniors in the audience, because it's a casino; was this true and what were their general reactions to the music?
~The World I Know is a better place because of David Cook~
Hey Angela, the guys are doing Yo Arms a LOT, so there's still a good chance you'll get that one tonight.
"If I could have a super power, I'd like the ability to...fly...so I can, you know?...soar...with...the birds."
AngelaT, I know how you feel about that fear of not hearing certain songs because they were played recently. I still have a couple that I want to see, so I'm hoping they show up at Mystic Lake on Friday. Though we didn't get Souvenir last night, so there's still hope for you on that one.
I was sitting in the 6th row, so I don't really know what the crowd was like behind me. I know the lead singer for GRO tried a few times to get everyone screaming, and wasn't always successful. I wasn't really worried about a response to David though, because I experienced the same thing in Waverly (a meh crowd for the opener) and they really picked it up for David. You will see in the banter that Dave had to pump them up at first (talked about a section in the middle where everyone was just sitting), and the people in front of me actually sat down again later in the set. But overall it was a pretty good crowd. Dave seemed happy, because at one point (before CBTM) he said we had been amazing and this was one of their best shows. He did the little chest pat when he said thank you...awww! One of the girls with us asked if he said that for every audience, and I assured her that he didn't. So from on stage, I would guess we were pretty good.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for ALL that you do for us and of course take all the time that you need with the videos Smiling
Drop to your knees & remember where you came from (Axium/Wavelength)
Jen -Thanks for the recap, but I'm miffed and vexed that everything I really want to hear for my 'virgin' concert tonight - Yo Arms, Souvenir, TWIK- was done last night, so probably I won't be hearing them.
Well, that's why we keep seeing shows, right?
I did want to ask, though, before the cellcast some of the chatters were mentioning that the crowd was not into GRO and we were a little worried for Dave and Co. However,it sounds like the audience was great for them. What were your impressions?
Jen quoth:
I've had a problem with rough sound in my videos, and one thing I noticed when playing my videos back, is that the rough sound is most noticeable through my right earbud, so maybe if you listen through just the left, the sound will improve. I don't know, just a thought. I might play around with reducing/eliminating the right channel to make mp3s later. Other videos might show up by the time I get mine uploaded, but I don't personally know anyone else who got video. Again, sorry to make y'all wait. I know how nice it is to wake up to fresh video.
YOU are a total goddess both for recording the entire show and for being willing to learn how to clean up the sound!
Do not apologize for needing time to upload that much video! Instead, accept the first of what I expect will be many rounds of thanks for making the effort to share it.
Wow - thanks to theBav....thos pics are amazing! I believe we have a new pic for the arm porn thread!
Good morning, everyone. I have video of nearly EVERYTHING, including all the banter. The only thing I didn't record was Declaration (just the song, I have the intro), because I have to clap along to that song, and you wouldn't want to see the results of me filming while clapping. I did bad enough without clapping in some parts. I was trying to hold my camera away from my eye so I could watch more of the stage, but when I was zoomed in, I drifted up to the light bar a few times. Because of this, I also did a fair amount of full stage shooting. I tried to start uploading my videos from a friend's house where we were staying last night, but the uploads were taking WAY too long, so I will have to wait until I get to my sister's house in the Twin Cities this afternoon. Sorry to make you all wait. I'll get them uploaded as soon as I can.
Xavier:
Super set list. One of the best I've seen.
It really was great. I have only been to three shows previous to tonight, and had similar sets in at least two of them. This set gave me 4 (FOUR!) songs that I hadn't heard live before (TWIK, Lie, Make Me, and Died in Your Arms), so I was super excited. (NOTE: The stage was elevated about 5 feet above the audience seating, so there was no way to see the set lists as they were taping them down. It was sort of nice not knowing what to expect, though, especially with the TWIK + Heroes opening. Lie was beautiful. All of the Dave solo parts were sung in complete darkness. Some people in the audience had received glowing star necklaces (Shooting STAR casino), and someone gave one to Dave right before Lie. Dave had Brian turn all the lights down for Lie, so all you could see (aside from when some cameras flashed) was this glowing blue star on stage. Very cool! Just before he got the star, he commented on my friend's/her daughter's "dagger" light stick. Ha! She took it up to the stage later, and Dave & Andy acted like they were scared of it. They left it on stage in front of Kyle's drums after the main set, and Dave jousted with Neal and his guitar when they first came back out for the encore. Dave seemed very chatty tonight, in a great mood. The guys were joking around on stage quite a bit. Dave feared a mutiny at one point (I think after KOTN). I don't know what Neal did/said near the beginning of CBTM, but Dave was laughing for a good portion of the song. Oh, and no Dave-Neal interaction on BBS tonight, they went to their separate corners for the solo. Backing up to GRO, they were really good. Many of the people I went to the show with commented that they liked them. I saw Dave and Andy watching most if not all of GRO's set from their sound booth on the side of the stage, and Neal showed up for a song or two as well.
No signing at the buses, at least while we were there. A few people were waiting, politefully distant across the parking lot. Security told us there were signing inside, so we went in and they had an inside meet & greet, which seemed not that well organized. I'm not sure if it was set up by the radio station, the casino, or someone else. They didn't seem to have specific passes to get into it, just whoever happened to be standing in the right place at the right time. At least that's the way it appeared to me, watching mainly from afar. I don't know how, but two of the younger girls with us were among the lucky ones to get in. They went in, could get one picture taken with the entire band, and could have one thing signed. We drove back around to the buses again, just in case, but security continued to shoo people away. Caught just a glimpse of Dave in the doorway as we were leaving. It really was a fun night. In addition to the 5 people that were with me, I met up with archucookie, Kioat, TheBav, and Polarbrrr and her neice before the show. AC and Kioat had heard them soundchecking the NIN song, but obviously they didn't play it tonight either. Maybe Friday??
I've had a problem with rough sound in my videos, and one thing I noticed when playing my videos back, is that the rough sound is most noticeable through my right earbud, so maybe if you listen through just the left, the sound will improve. I don't know, just a thought. I might play around with reducing/eliminating the right channel to make mp3s later. No video at all yet?
There's probably some out there. pweller7 usually does the digging for video and brings the links over, and she's off to a show today. So we'll have to find it on our own!
Great cell cast and thank you for this, and Mandy, for always being there!
No video at all yet?
Okay, I think it's time to stop grousing, carping, and honking like a goose over when video does or doesn't appear, in favor of finding a more propitious time of day to view them (or accepting that it'll be two mornings after each show rather than one). Eye-wink
Thank you so much. Enjoyed!
I talked to TheBav after the show and she said she put her phone in the outside pocket of her purse, so it wasn't sitting out at all. I wonder if that had anything to do with it being such good sound. She has a blackberry curve. She was on Neal's side, a few rows in from the stage. It really was the best sounding cell cast ever. Thank you, TheBav!
Thanks to Karen-the Bav and Mandy for this great cellcast.
Thanks so much to TheBav for an awesome cellcast! And to Mandy, for making them all possible.
