JUL 24-09 (Fri) MYSTIC LAKE CASINO (Prior Lake, MN) -- twitter rpts, live blogging, recaps, photos, vids, reviews, etc.

Hey everyone! I thought I'd create a discussion thread for each stop of the Declaration Tour in an effort to keep the boards organized and help everyone more easily find info related to each event (and have a record of everything in one place for anyone wanting to look back on these events sometime in future). The following is how these threads will work (subject to change):

>> Thread pinned to the top of or on the main David Cook Discussion forum for 24-48 hrs
>> Thread moved and pinned to the top of or on the main Tour Talk forum for 24-48 hrs
>> Thread moved to its respective regional Tour Talk forum

If, for some reason, a thread isn't moved right away, it will be eventually.

What should be posted here? Related local radio/tv/press, on-site reports/photos, live blogging, recaps, media and fan reviews, links to related blogs, event photos/videos, etc., etc.

Please post links to photos instead of embedding them and please disable graphic footers as this will make the thread easier to read (especially when live blogging). Regarding PRE-SHOW sound check and set list spoilers, please either PM me the info so that I may post it as hidden text in the first pinned reply or, alternatively, if I am not hosting or not here for whatever reason, then please post the spoilers to a blog and link that blog back to this thread in your reply.

As always, I welcome comments/questions, as well as info, via PM. Thank you. ~Lisa

Just going back and "reliving" my "daventure" from last week...WI/MN/IA. It will be a long time before I can attend another show but rewatching these vids just brings it all back. I want to thank all my "groupie" friends for making these shows so amazing...especially, Peg, who put up with me 24/7. David, you had NO idea what you were doing when you brought us two together. lol Someday, I hope I will "officially" meet you but in the meantime I have these AMAZINGLY EPIC shows to relive from here. It is an adventure I will never forget and I am truly in my happy place right now.

another Banter and IDIFY! HD

I've been out of internet range for the past week, so I'm totally behind, but I gotta say this show was absolutely incredible!! When Dave came out into the audience to stand in the sound booth, he was literally 10 feet away from us. It'll take me a while to catch up on everything I missed, but hopefully I'll have a full re-cap of both shows last week soon.

Thanks so much for everyone who posted videos and such!!

I got a couple of OK pictures. You can see them at my facebook or on this page. *Edited so link works, thanks for the info.*

Thanking the Opening Band Banter!

I've attached a link to my pictures from Fridays concert.

I’m back from the weekend and finally getting onto DCO to catch up! I don’t have anything new to add as everyone has recapped the concert perfectly! I can only reiterate how amazing this concert was! David took my breath away from the moment he came out singing TWIK dressed to kill! After seeing him in Green Bay in a t-shirt and hat and sexy jeans (which I am not complaining about at all!!!), it was awesome to see him dressed in a shirt, tie and vest! He was as sexy as ever!!!

I had a mental list of things I was hoping for and I can’t believe how many of them came true! As some of you know, Avalanche is one of my favorite songs and I really wanted to hear it live. I also really wanted Straight Ahead, I wanted him to walk through the audience since I wasn’t in the front this time and I wanted Died in Your Arms Tonight. I am still in shock that so much of that came true… the only thing I didn’t get was Yo Arms. If I remember correctly, Straight Ahead wasn’t even on the setlist! I feel so lucky that he added it and walked through the audience during it! And to top it off, he did Lie acapella! That was truly amazing… I haven’t watched any video yet, but I can only imagine that they are not going to do this justice. It was more beautiful than I can put into words. My friend and I looked at each other at the same time and said “WOW”. I feel so lucky to have seen that live.

It was great to meet Parrogordo… you seem like a wonderful person! Sorry I didn’t meet others and I missed seeing Peg and Cherie.

It was such a great concert! I remember loving the UWGB concert so much and afterwards being in withdrawal and wanting more than anything to see another concert. Then over time, I was happy that at least I had the recaps from DCO, you tube videos and cellcasts. But seeing David and the band live again reminded me how amazing they are live and now I am again in withdrawal! Seeing them live is like coming home yet exciting and new all at the same time!

Sharijob, I'm sorry I missed this opportunity to meet you! I arrived about 20 minutes late to the designated meeting spot and without a phone number was not able to locate you! FYI, I posted a reply to that Jon Bream blog, it really burned me! http://www.davidcookofficial.com/us/blog/mystic-lake-concert-reporting-j...

My videos from this show are SLOWLY but surely uploading. You all have had PLENTY of videos to watch already, so mine will probably be nothing new. BUT, I do have to say that the sound on the videos from this show was REALLY good. I am in LOVE with the new sound guy (and the venues). David has NEVER sounded better than he did this night. "Lie" was absolutely the most performance I have seen in quite a while. The videos out there do NOT do it justice. When the man stepped AWAY from the mic and sand without amplification, his voice STILL filled the room and STILL had that amazing resonance. The hair stood up on the back of my neck and I turned to IowaDCfan (aka TheBav) and we BOTH said to each other at the same time, "That was AMAZING!" We've both been to enough shows that we are not easy to impress these days, but we've BOTH decided that Mystic Lake rivals Northampton for us and THAT'S saying something, because I didn't think ANYTHING would come close to NoHo.

My pics from Mystic Lake are only so-so (thank GOODNESS the video turned out so good). But, here they are, none the less. Feel free to comment. Tell me why you like something. Comments tend to stick in my head and influence shots at future concerts. Mystic Lake so-so Pics.

I was trying to put a link to my photos. Didn't work. Sad
I will try again when I'm not so tired.

Last one. Straight Ahead

I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for the great posts on this thread. The pictures are really good, and it's fun to read about people's individual experiences at the show. Smiling

DeeDee "Do they ALWAYS rock out Mr. Sensitive this hard?? This performance was exceptional !!"

To answer your ? YES they do this song just lends itself to a live audiance and sounds great. Dave & the Guys really rock out on it each and every time.

Here is Barbasol.

Do they ALWAYS rock out Mr. Sensitive this hard??

This performance was exceptional !!

here is another Mr. Sensitive! HQ

Working on the others but here's Mr. Sensitive

I'm uploading my videos to youtube now, but my connection is super slow. Will probably take hours. I'll post the links as the videos are completed. I got Mr. Sensitive, Barbasol and Straight Ahead from a little further back.

Jen truly is the Total Video Goddess... if she isn't a professional, she sure plays one on Youtube.

TWIK: Moment Alert. I felt like I didn't breath for the whole second half of the song, and it's not like I hadn't seen it before.

Mr. S ought to work as a follow to TWIK; there's something odd about the transition. Neal is working on polka moves? Step-step-cross?

Heroes: Well, duh -- of course the crowd is louder when DC tells them to be. It'd be rude if they were loud when he didn't want it. (And they're following more subtle hand signals -- raising an eyebrow's next!)

IDIFY: The 1.5-minute stroll destroyed my efforts at composing a smartass blackjack remark --

This feels like a casino show; I wonder if that's what triggered Bream's "too cooooool for skool" mode.

Andy speaks! (Well, almost. Maybe next time.) "They're not even in English any more!" - love it. Is this the start of a tradition of opening Lie with the worst banter humanly possible?

Lie: Gorgeous. The audience's singing along is no longer annoying -- they can't seem to hit the beat at sports-anthem intensity.

Avalanche: So audience members fainting peaked at 3:42, I'm figuring.

BBS: arlysv, you got clear sound, and that was not an easy venue for visuals. Performance got me to take a really deep breath around 1:30, 2:02, and other times I don't feel like specifying.

DC thinks there's more to compatibility than offering a choice of savory or sugary snacks? Man, those rock stars get picky.

Straight Ahead: Joey's been practicing standing still again! Moment Alert on the audience stroll. (And 34 people post miraculous healing stories on their blogs...)

Little Lies: Audience reacting as a feel-good moment is weird.

KOTN: We learn that Jason's wife had better have a sense of humor, but to be married to a sound guy, one would have to.

Decl: Probably my real favorite of the night.

CBTM: Jen, great camera-work on this one -- particularly Kyle demonstrating that hands are percussion instruments.

LO: Neal's certainly in fine fettle. Oooh, oooh, oooh -- the audience can do the sing-along all by their own little selves. So hyper-professional that it sounds produced.

ADAM: Excellent manners, thanking 'em on behalf of the dog. (I question whether the drum kit would itself have good enough manners to be grateful, though.)

Notable of the night: Lie, Straight Ahead, TWIK, LO.

For anyone interested, I've finished editing my mp3s from Mystic Lake. If you've already downloaded from my previous links, but you want something a little more polished, or want the songs without the banter, go to my 4shared folder "edited mp3s for Mystic Lake".

For those songs that had any kind of significant banter, there will be two versions, which should be self-explanatory. There is also a third version of I Did It For You. David walked around for over a minute and a half in the middle of that song, so I trimmed out about a minute of that portion for the final mp3 cut. If you want that minute back, grab the one labeled (with full walkabout). I just thought, while it's fun to watch that on the video, it got a little long for me to listen to that section with just the audio. The IDIFY version labeled (with banter) also includes the full walkabout section. I hope that makes sense.

"sorry, i don't know how to quote things. hahah.
so where the heck were the buses anyways?
cause i was looking for FOREVER! and had no luck.
by the way, i totally agree that even though we didn't meet him, the show was amazing."

Apparently I don't know how to do the quote things either!
The buses were on the back side of the hotel, and the golf club. We just left the hotel lobby, walked to the right, through the parking lot, and just down from the golf club.
There was two other ladies there that were walking right between the two buses when we walked up. We saw that a security guard was talking to them as they were walking toward us. Obviously, telling them to leave. The guard didn't come to us, but we got the point when they shinned their flashlight our way and we said let's leave. However as we were walking away trying to avoid the sprinklers, which mysteriously Eye-wink turned on as we got to them (that was a nice touch) the two ladies hung around and even tried to hide behind the hotel vans just parked down from there. I wasn't having any part of that. I wasn't about to get tossed out or be disrespectful to the security for doing their job.

Sweet! bobsessive was at the Mystic Lake show last night! Here's her BBS guitar solo, and Neal's Little Lies guitar solo. She has a lot of banter videos as well.

And here is my last one, A Daily AntheM
