"Light On" finally being promoted on iTunes

"Light On" finally being promoted on iTunes
Average: 4.5 (2 votes)

Went into iTunes, just to check in. When the iTunes Store loaded, look what I saw -- *TWO* "Light On" advertisements!

The absolute best sight I've seen today!

Doesn't that just make your day?!

Laughing out loud

doipod.com monitors itunes in real time... they have LO at #33 now. Not in pop, but in the all-important top 100.

I agree with nono...would be great if this were on the *main* page. But at least it's being advertised!

"If I could have a super power, I'd like the ability to...fly...so I can, you know?...soar...with...the birds."

MYAIRKDC I've always suspect it's the label that decides - they're the ones that embed that info on CDs and then it shows up on itunes when you import it. I posted the same theory on the other thread. I think they want to cast a wide net for David.

Scott, how we've missed you! You seriously almost made orange tea come spraying out my nose!

I love that you admit your sensitive points ("don't get me started"). And the idea of Gavin's singing about Magic Rainbows . . . well, that's just quite the picture! Thanks for that.

I think DC isnt mainly pop. I thinks its from the label. Pop seems to sell, which doesnt make it right, I know. But since its to some degree from ai, it has to be to some degree their rule(s)!?! I think its going to be interesting to listen to pre ai, during ai, first post ai cd, then 2,3,... post ai cds and listen to them. I've known/assumed that his first post ai cd wont be his best, that doesnt mean its not good that doesnt mean im not going to love it! its ai, plus hes the winner, hes not daughtry, or mj where they didnt win, dc won which is awesome but i think being the winner debuting first post ai cd is different then not being ai winner debuting first ai cd. his post ai cd will be awesome, but his 2, 3, 4, post ai cds will rule!!!! I do love LO, and will definitly love his cd!!!

(side note i began tuning in to ai week after week during chris d season, then by passed last year meaning 07 season and watched week to week this year meaning 08!!!! i like rockers, but i listen to all!!!!)

anyhow, reguardless, we gotto help/support dc!!!!!

rock on dc rock on

Scott, you just made me LOL.

If iTunes was smart they would allow a listing to show in multiple categories. It would make it easier for people to find music for artists like David, where his genre is confusing. Perhaps this is a feature that already exists, but I haven't seen it?

Don't get me started on the whole rock pop genre thing. I just posted like a million times on the TWoP thread and a few times on d-c.org venting about that! Daniel Powter and OneRepbulic as rock, Coldplay as alternative, and David as pop. And Daughtry also as pop. Unreal. And "Love Remains the Same" as #1 on itunes rock! I know Gavin Rossdale has rock cred, and was with Bush, and all that... but that song is as soft as TOML (sans magic rainbows, of course).

Yeah, they seem to have DAVID (the artist) listed as rock but Light On's (the song's) genre as pop.

So . . . Rock/Pop it is . . . ?? lol.

Here's a little piece if interesting:

If you search David Cook- rock, 'Light On' pops up Smiling

PeachMango - well said. David Cook, bringing the Net to its knees. DYDC!

Eye-wink
--

Yeah! On iTunes, I also submitted a top-rated review of the song -- and hope everyone else does the same Smiling

K, I'm officially concerned. Just tried gifting iTunes to two of my friends, and it said "The iTunes store is busy. Please try again later."
-------
BLake, no worries. It'll get back online soon enough. It's been sluggish all morning. Plus it only adds to the legend: We all know David Cook broke Idol. Last week, he broke AOL and DCO. Now we can say that he broke iTunes too.

PeachMango (aka: Lilibeth, Keel, TropicFruit )

LOL - iTunes popped me that "busy - try again later," but my peeps just emailed me thanking me for the song! Go figure!

And their reviews are in: "Love a good power ballad." and "Wow, so different than when he was on AI. Hope this is the real David Cook. Really great."

Uh-Oh! C'mon iTunes...get in gear! I guess servers everywhere underestimate the power of the Word Nerds...

now we just have to get it in that "Top Songs" list!!

The song is going for adds on POP radio not rock, so why shouldn't it be classified as Pop on iTunes? The genre listing is the least of the problems there.

i bought it at midnight last night

try to leave a light on when i'm gone

I concur with Scott and BLake. It is dissapointing to see the single listed under POP, but I do beleive that is a label decision. Make me think they are going to market the single to Pop radio as well...which is understandable on a financial viewpoint, but unfortunate. Light On is a great rock album and I would love to hear it on rock radio where it belongs... Just my 2 cents.

Hi, Scott! Nice to see you around. Your point seems to be the consensus around here. Rock, for sure. Hey, I could even live with Rock/Pop. But straight up "Pop" just feels wrong to me, especially with the instrumentation and David's unbelievable vocals.

Like requiem said in another thread, I, too, have already changed the genre in my iPod. So, at least I feel true to David's art, if not those who originally categorized him as pop.
--

I just wish RCA categorized LO's genre as rock or alternative, not pop. Why are they marketing this as pop? Daughtry is also listed as pop. I think it's the label that decides, not itunes. That info is also embedded on the CDs and that info is added to itunes when imported.

You are welcome! I just bumped the thread here with the same info as my blog. Smiling

That has been there for some time now in the pop zone. It would be better if it was in the main page, but it's better than nothing Eye-wink
