Dunno what happened to the former thread, maybe it is burried deep in the archives because Malaysian fans have stopped coming to DCO to post. I think they have all gone over to the wordpress website. Anyway I sure am glad that you dropped by.

Having read my posts and yzrock_up's posts, I am sure you agree with us that David is not getting enough radio play while Archie's songs are played over and over again. We are frustrated and disappointed as we have been requesting for his songs and our song requests have been ignored.

I think it is time we fans got together again on DCO and start brainstorming for solutions to increase David's popularity here. It seems requesting for his songs alone is not enough. Maybe we could start a petition here and invite the local DJ's to read it so that they will know how we feel.

In the meantime, welcome back to DCO. If you know the others, could you ask them to come back to DCO and start posting again?

Here's to our mission to increase radioplay of David's songs. Cheers!!

Hi y'all. Haven't been here forever. Whatever happened to our former thread???

I think i do agree with your friends' theory. That's why I am really really disappointed whenever I hear ARchie's songs played many times a day and haven't heard any Cookie song. How i wish some of the DJ's reading this forum so that they will know how much they ignoring DC. Malaysians shouldn't discriminate on one's personality, They should see how talented the person is.

Regarding about RED fm, i can't register, I've tried so many times but always failed. Maybe because i didn't put a correct IC as i am not a Malaysian. And yes at least there they are playing DC's TOML and LO. So i already set up my frequency there.

THanks to DCO we've met. lol.

Red fm seems to be a good station as the music they play is more varied compared to fly. I think we should try to request for David's songs on Red fm and see what happens. Today I officially joined Red fm. It is easy, just type the word JOIN (in capital letters), leave a space, then type your name (does not need to be in capital), followed by your IC number (leave out the hyphens) and sms it to 33988. They give out the instructions on air and you can also go to their website to double check, www.red.fm. I also went to Red fm's website and put in a request for David Cook's Come Back to Me via the Request form for the Late Night Love Songs Show which airs on Sunday nights to Friday nights from 10.00 p.m. to 1.00 a.m. Besides requesting for David' CBTM, I also had to request for two other songs, you are required to ask for 3 songs and if the DJ entertains your request she will play all 3 songs back to back.

By the way, I also sent a direct message to Fly Fm regarding the lack of airplay for David's songs. I made sure I sounded very polite and civil and just expressed my disappointment.

As for why Archie is more famous here, my friend has a theory and I happen to agree with it. It is not because Archie has already given a concert here and therefore he is more famous. The theory is this: Malaysians and Malaysian radio stations have this mentality - they think they have to pick just one Idol contestant from every season i.e. the safe choice to gush over e.g. Archie, Jordin, Clay and Katherine McPhee even at one point and now Kris Allen. By 'safe choice' I mean the Idol contestant with the squeaky clean image, wholesome etc. In Archie's case, he is a great teenager, does not lead a wild life, is great to take home to a girl's mum and dad. David, on the other hand, being a former bartender (not a great thing for some conservative Malaysians) maybe had a wild life while bartending (ok, this is just guessing, could'nt be bothered if it is true or not because it is the talent that matters). Also, Archie has a legion of crazed teenage girl fans in this country, the Arch Angels. But then I don't think David lacks fans as he must surely have adult fans, I just don't know how often they request for his songs. I think they do request for his songs, hence since he is not getting played it must be because of the abovesaid theory.

Another example of the theory - Kris Allen over Adam Lambert (who I by the way absolutely love as much as David Cook). Kris Allen is married and is a devout Christian. Adam Lambert on the other hand is gay, has had a wild life (at least to some Malaysians), wears guyliner, black nail polish, does not say what religion he subscribes to. I am also very upset he is not getting played.

Anyway I shall not let up requesting for David even if I have to scribble on the website of every English song playing radio station in Malaysia. It is up to us loyal fans to do everything we can to make him famous here.

cool, i just discovered red fm last week and yeah they have given out DC album for the whole week and this week is daughtry's album..

Obviously archie is more famous here. is it maybe because he already did a concert here? THen they should invite DC as well to be fair.

ANyway DC will still be my one and only idol!!

I have been requesting for CBTM, Bar-Ba-Sol and Permanent to be played by flyfm whether by sms, facebook or twitter but my requests have fallen on deaf years, so frustrated, think I shall be sending a direct e-mail to fly. It's ridiculous that he is not getting the attention that he deserves considering how popular he is in the US while Archie is even on the ntv7 news station.

However, I have heard RedFM play David's songs i.e. TOML and LO but not CBTM or BBS. This week as I am posting this comment, Red is giving out David Cook's CD. Kudos to them. I shall see if I can request his songs on Red FM and I shall be tuning in to other frequencies too.

A fellow Malaysian here. Though I just joined the fan community I have been a fan for a long time. Hopefully David will stop by Malaysia someday but he needs to gain more popularity here. Right now Archie seems to be more popular. I think we fans can play a part by requesting his songs on our local radio stations and getting him more airplay, he just is not getting enough attention.

Anyway when the day comes and David does drop by I will surely make it a point to attend his concert. Cheers to the future and keeping my fingers crossed for a future David concert. Malaysia does not know what it is missing without a David Cook concert.

I remain a diehard and loyal fan.
