Hey everyone! I thought I'd create a discussion thread for each stop of the Declaration Tour in an effort to keep the boards organized and help everyone more easily find info related to each event (and have a record of everything in one place for anyone wanting to look back on these events sometime in future). The following is how these threads will work (subject to change):

If, for some reason, a thread isn't moved right away, it will be eventually.
What should be posted here? Related local radio/tv/press, on-site reports/photos, live blogging, recaps, media and fan reviews, links to related blogs, event photos/videos, etc., etc.
Please post links to photos instead of embedding them and PLEASE DISABLE GRAPHIC FOOTERS as this will make the thread easier to read (especially when live blogging). Regarding PRE-SHOW sound check and set list spoilers, please either PM me the info so that I may post it as hidden text in the first pinned reply or, alternatively, if I am not hosting or not here for whatever reason, then please post the spoilers to a blog and link that blog back to this thread in your reply.

234DEB: The floor seating looked full, but the bleachers.....it was kind of sad. I was a little disappointed that more people didn't come out, but it might have been b/c it was so cold and rainy. I still think we did him proud though!

Hi everyone, I'm late to the posting party, but am visiting my in-laws in South Carolina (where I have very minimal internet access). I have six videos from the concert, which was awesome despite the cold and rain. It was my husband's first Dave and the Anthemic concert, and he survived! He actually had a good time and thought the band was great. Anyway, I will be posting my videos when I get back to the West Coast late this week, but it looks like others have posted a ton of great footage already. I'm glad to see a bunch of WOHWWS videos because I didn't get that and Kyle had an epic drum solo on that. I got IDIFY, Heroes, Lie, IJDIYAT, Light On, CBTM.

It's show #134 or "We'll Tour Until Hell Freezes Over... and Then Some."
The problem with being two shows behind is that I'm in the mood to talk about Georgia, but South Carolina is what's on deck. After writing who-knows-how-many of these (a lot), unless DC has startled the masses with radical rearrangements of most of the set list, I'm going to free-associate more tediously than usual, just to have something to say.

It's friggin' RAINING. That's beautifully moody but must be uncomfortable as all get-out. Add that to the list of Indignities of Fame: trying to convey romance, sex, and rock-n-roll with cold water dripping down one's nose. (If I think hard about playing an electric guitar in the rain, I'll just freak out, and obviously it's do-able, as there were no exploding bass players. (The rain stops drummers from exploding, I think, or at least keeps the damage to a fizzle.))
IDIFY: Voice recovered? I've been pleased by vocals a few times lately, but this is first time in a while that my off-the-cuff reaction has been "Man, his voice is gorgeous." This has that lovely assertive edge that was showing up on this leg before the bout with cholera. If this song has the usual lead-off characteristic of not being the strongest because the audience energy isn't up yet, this is going to be quite the concert. Am I the only person who has the horrifying vision of IDIFY being widely adopted as a wedding first-dance song, as the love theme from Titanic was? The "you're the one thing that can make me whole" supports the theme, as does "I did it for you" (since I'm increasingly convinced that being moved to heroism must be one of the hallmarks of the one true love, and I'm too cynical to watch Disney movies, so that counts as an insight), but "you turn away," not so much. Unless the song's alternatively about what a person does to win another turning out to separate them, in which case, there's much to be said for taking the even more heroic risk of demanding to have both and finding balance day by day -- which is a very married sentiment, in the best sense. (I pay no mind to what DC says in interviews about what the songs mean. Authors are the last people one should ask about meaning.)
We have nouns. Lots of nouns. Why are women wearing their sunglasses at night? Oh, of course -- it's so they can watch him weave then breathe his storylines. Never mind.
WOHWWS: I was thinking this was more subdued than usual, but at verse 2, maybe not. Once again, it's 3/4 of the way to making dishonesty sound sexy. Dangerous, that. So why does honesty get this tightie-whitie reputation for bland wholesomeness? Logically, it ought to be sexier because it's more truly intimate (and that's without tackling what's lurking in people's heads to be honest about), and that just occurred to me, so I have nowhere particular to go with the idea, but Kyle's beating the drums in a manner that will have Percussion Protective Services out to put them in a foster home, so don't mind me.
Ah, right and left tonight. Yes, checking the middle is obligatory. Thank you. Tripartite is so much more classically elegant than bipartite (unless we're talking legs, in which case it's easier to buy jeans with only two).
Mr. S: Okay, this is a more subdued opening and generally less rage-filled. Not sure what I think, as the condensed-rage-throughout version has a lot of justification as an interpretation, but the dramatic build to that here at verse 3 is awfully striking.
Heroes: Sing the first verse like that, and gravity gets repealed. The attack on "I believe in what you show me" in this version would sweep anyone off his or her feet.
Lie: New arrangement! So spare and elegant and moody. Yeah, doing the a cappella part with mic was necessary for this venue. Still has fireworks at roughly the 3/4 mark.
Deep-fried crew members are not a good thing. "That is fantastic. Congratulations!" may now top my last favorite KOTN intro.
KOTN: That's right, I already admired the non-shoutiness of this one this morning. Damn, I have good taste. Now, the great puzzlement is why fans always fixate on providing kisses on necks, since it's being used as a metaphor for sexual desire amidst attraction for the wrong reasons. Being Hollywood arguably includes being the sort of girl who wants a celebrity for his celebrity, when it's fairly common knowledge -- and this is a general philosophical statement, not personal-life speculation about what that blond hottie Neal gets up to in private -- that many celebrity relationships that work long-term tend to be with civilians who want no limelight, that is, the girl who'd rather quietly make a secure home for her husband than be in People. (And if life's genuinely quiet, fans tend to leave the non-celeb spouse alone out of respect for the "keeps him/her grounded" stuff -- who knew that Dolly Parton has a husband?)
"What do you got?" is supposed to be the answer to "What are you rebelling against?" I dunno -- I think deep-frying might improve an Oreo. Ah, a strong motivational appeal for people to stand up!

Decl: Coming across as the heroic version, with an extra smack on "sometimes I think you never knew..." It's just gorgeous and usually is.
And DC always remembers his lyrics...
IJDIYAT: (snippet with blurry sound)
LO: That was the saddest LO opening I can recall. "Lugubrious" comes to mind. Beautiful but painfully mournful.
SA: I've commented on this one so much lately that I'm not going to harp on the same themes -- but it's still an extraordinarily striking song. This was not the one that initially sold me on DC -- that was Silver, and it was partly because his choices of metaphors in the first verse were eerily similar to what I'd used myself on ex-boyfriends -- but it does lend itself to Big Moments. Wonderfully mourning and menacing soft "take a minute just to breathe" after the clapping pause, followed by angry attack on the final chorus.
CBTM: Another one where I'd be harping if I kept repeating myself, though that was the most beautifully tender opening.
Notable of the Night: This is a toughie, as it was overall a uniformly strong concert. I could make cases for LO and CBTM.
