One-leaf Clover

One-leaf Clover

Does one-leaf clover reference anything in particular?...I just love the lyrics to Anodyne.

Rare, unique, beautiful, but not blessed with luck in the sense that a four-leaf clover is good luck.

I love all of the ideas! I hadn't thought of the fewer leaves = less luck interpretation. That certainly would be true. My best guess would be the rarity thing. It's one of a kind. I'm stumped! Someone should try to ask Neal if they see him and report back!

More food for thought...to me it meant defective or damaged.

"If I ever found a one-leaf clover... It would be you."

Those are some of my favorite lyrics in existence! I like when songs can be interpreted in many ways... I actually interpret this one-leaf clover as representing something, or in this case someone, very unique & special. It's not easy to love this person, but he/she is such a rarity... "How many lives 'til another you?" Amazing lyrics. <3

Bad luck.

~The World I Know is a better place because of David Cook~

Call me simple (Hi, Simple!) but I just assumed the more leaves on a clover, the better the luck.

we've discussed that particular lyric a few times on different threads...and I don't think we've come to a consensus as to its meaning.
