Please Tell Me They Submit The Album With "Breathe Tonight" To Reviewers
As much as I respect and like TOML, "Breathe Tonight" with its heavy riffs adds a much needed balance to the album. From what I can tell by the preview, it simply fits with all the other songs to create a very cohesive sound. I only pray RCA submits this to the media, or at least a deluxe version of the record, so DC doesn't get shortchanged in his album reviews! It would be a sin, especially after they previewed the track to Rolling Stone, which wrote glowingly about it by comparing it to the Foo Fighters. Personally, I think this track should have been on all versions of the record.

Thanks, Angel!
I do like DC's harder rocking songs a lot. Let Go, Barbasol, Breathe Tonight.. They add a needed dimension and balance to his album. Even better, these type of songs also help solidify his reputation as a rocker.
Most likely, Walmart has a contract/deal with RCA for this "bonus track" just so more people will buy from them as opposed to buying from their competitors. [Like itunes did.] It's standard free market commercialism.
So "Breathe Tonight" might be Walmart's exclusive property.
It worked for me. I will pre-order or whatever to get this song, especially now that I've heard it.
It freekin' rocks, freeeking HARD and I LOVE that!
That's what I like SO much about "Analog Heart"! It freekin' rocks!
Xavier, I think we are both into good, old fashioned, head bangin' rock! And "BT" delivers that! I do hope it hits the airwaves and gets played in the right places.
I love all of the songs on the new CD from the snippits, but I have to say, I really hope they release Lie as a single, too. I think it will be a cross over pop hit as well as a top adult contemporary hit. It is really a beautiful song. I also love Permanent. When he rocks out it grabs me, but when he is more melodic it touches my heart in a different way.

BT definately shouldn't have been an "extra" track. Its too good for an afterthought.

You are so right Xavier. I'm also bummed it's not part of the main album especially since, as you point out, the reviewers may not be given access to Breathe Tonite. I just listened to the WalMart sampling of it (couldn't hold out after all!) and from that little bit, I think I'm really, really, gonna love this track!
And to green eyed lady: I'm not sure it's the older AI audience they are trying to capture with the more pop-ish HAC vibe. Speaking for myself, I still rock pretty hard and was a teenager during Woodstock and the Beatles invasion so do the math. It's not so much people my age (although there are plenty of fuddy duddys, no doubt) but I find a lot of the younger people prefer that pop contemporary sound over both classic & new (alternative) rock. Plus, that's the demographic that spends the most $ on music!

I completely understand having a bonus track is standard procedure. I'd just rather have "Breathe Tonight" as part of a 13 song album and TOML as the bonus track...as it is on itunes and amazon.
as buggered as it makes me... i'd still prefer this to not getting the songs at all. maybe it really didn't fit the album concept and i still can't imagine sacrificing any of the other songs on the album for another.
LOL... just got an idea: David's next album should be like Beyonce's new one... a double disc where all the ballady songs are on one and all the sassy (hard rocking) songs on the other.

I agree Annie. They should always put out the best product regardless. Some may feel shortchanged when they find out a quality song is on the album they didn't buy. Sure, most like us will still buy it, but I can understand how a customer may feel slighted.
"...it may show favoritism to one retailer over the other. If they give "Breathe Tonight" rave reviews, customers may think "well, forget Amazon & iTunes, I'm going to Walmart instead!" ...They can't be seen as swinging consumers to one store over another."

They shouldn't be doing this anyways... the label is already taking good songs and adding them as "bonus" tracks for one retailer or another, thus setting up a difficult scenario for giving those songs a fair chance at airplay. I don't see this increasing record sales because the rabid fans are going to buy multiple copies anyways. Tepid fans will just pirate the expensive "bonus track" unless they make the CD exceedingly pretty.
When given the option between purchasing a $10 CD and a $13 "bonus" one for an artist that I like, I will go with the $10 one... I had this scenario with Little Voice... went for the $10 one and said to hell with the bonus song.

The only problem I could see with that is, it may show favoritism to one retailer over the other. If they give "Breathe Tonight" rave reviews, customers may think "well, forget Amazon & iTunes, I'm going to Walmart instead!" Which will then pizz off the folks at Apple and Amazon. Same thing if they review it willout BT, but WITH "My Last Request" (though again, MLR is with preorders only). They can't be seen as swinging consumers to one store over another.

Maybe it will be on a new cd next year. If this cd does as well as anticipated, we may have another sooner than we think. David is very prolific, or as my friend's 5 year old said while pointing to David on TV, 'He has a lot of music in him.' LOL

Couldn't agree more, green-eyed lady. I'm already disappointed this track wasn't on the main release, but that it may have not even been sent to reviewers! "Breathe Tonight" really helps solidify his "rock" credentials!
i think Xavier is right. I don't know why RCA would assume that they have to "lighten up" David's album to satisfy AI fans. I think that is ridiculous. Any older fan will tell you that they witnessed some of the greatest rock acts of their time-Led Zepplin,Pink Floyd- not to mention Woodstock. I personally think that is insulting. i say put it out there and let David rock on.
I hear you guys! I realize they have to have an exclusive track for Walmart, but this sounds too good not to include on the main release. It worries me a bit.
Give us more of hard-rockin' Dave. RCA, what were you thinking by leaving songs like this off the main CD?
(unfortunately, i can't think of a single song on there to sacrifice for room!)
