LYRICS

Album:
Track number:
12
Lyrics:
Break your neck for some substance This is temporary sanity, an exercise in vanity So long to the ordinary day Wrought with fictitious tales of how there’s any other way Hold on to anything at all It’s a long way down between the summer and the fall If I told you that you’re everything Would you sing along? Would you sing along? It’s a daily anthem Would you sing my song at the top of your lungs And we’ll all sing along, we’ll all sing along It’s a half-faith blessing For the lessons I’ve learned and never deserved And we’ll all sing along, we’ll all sing along Now the verses take hold A gentle undercurrent of more years to grow old Say goodbye to the cold And try to forgive Everything this night, as we sing your Daily Anthem Would you sing my song at the top of your lungs And we’ll all sing along, we’ll all sing along It’s a half-faith blessing For the lessons I’ve learned and never deserved And we’ll all sing along, we’ll all sing along Oh, oh, oh, oh (repeat)

Reviews for this Track

When I first got the CD I decided I'd play this one first because it was 15 minutes and 25 seconds long. I fell in love with it and it became my favorite song! Then I heard Kiss On The Neck and fell in love with it to!

This song is amazing! It is a great song meant for everyone! It is such a great anthem song. every time i hear the end i just want to take a liter or a cell phone and hold it up and wave it in the air!! bahah. It is one of my favorite songs on the album <3. and yes i would sing along! lol.

OMG...after i saw that this song was 15 some min long i wondered why and then I found the extra Kiss on the Neck at the end and I refell in love with the album again!! Kiss on the Neck is such a great song! s love it...it is so DC!. lol. Love it!

I bought the CD, actually returned the first one - I thought it was defective. The second one is the same way. I am glad I read the reviews. I now know it is not defective. I do not have a favorite song on the CD. I enjoy listening to all of the songs. Great Job David. Keep up the good work and congratulations on your success. This was the first season I actually became hooked on American Idol - I actually voted for you - many times - as a matter of fact. It was great to see you win. I can not wait to see you in concert.

This song is so great. I love all the song on David's CD. Every single one of them is just amazing. They just remind me of the things in my life: good and bad. Fantastic job David.

-From David's biggest fan ever!!!-

this is one of my favorites on the CD, however when I listen to all his songs they seem to depict the story of my life in some way, shape or form.......ROCK ; ) ON CUTIE PIE

For me, that's what it's like listening to Mr. Cook's music. There's not one song that doesn't touch me emotionally. Thank you again, Mr. Cook.....can't wait for the next ride!

"And then there is the blessing of being able to breathe again when Permanent ends and AdaM begins." Very well said NEMO!!

"It's a half-faith blessing for the lessons I've learned, never deserved."
That's a heck of a fine line of poetry, Mr. Cook.
I never vote for this one in the poll here or at D-C.org -- it's sort of like Permanent and AdaM are in a league of their own and I don't think about voting for them. Choosing a favorite from DCTR is like choosing the first bite at Thanksgiving dinner -- but in the end, if I have to pick one I always vote for LIfe on the Moon or Avalanche because they are so darned amazing. But I do love this song. Love this idea -- a half-faith blessing. Good grief, David. Know exactly what you mean, or think I do. Whew.
And then there is the blessing of being able to breathe again when Permanent ends and AdaM begins.

Thanks for every single word on your record. I've been listening to DCTR for a couple of months now. I'm still hearing new things. Listening to the music of someone who thinks every word is important is such a pleasure.

Peace Out!! ~D~

I can not pick out just one fav of this album. I have listened to David's CD every day since I have bought it. It's the only music allowed in my car. I do hope we get a concert soon!!!!!! Hey a 2nd album would be cool too. God Bless David and keep him safe.

Okay, I'm one of those dummies that listened to the cd like 50 times before finding out whoa, where did that come from??? Smiling I love all the songs...Kiss on the Neck is AWESOME, too!

Over and over again, this song gets better and better and I can not stop singing your song at the top of my lungs!

We are ready for you to come home and play for us in Lee's Summit/Blue Springs fans. You are HOT!

I love this song so much!It makes me wish I could actually sing well!I feel bad murdering it everyday when I walk through the door.Laughing out loud

I wish I could taste things like David...

I feel dumb. the hidden song. The silence, thought my cd was defective too. Love KOTN!!! The whole CD is awesome! You are going to be really really big!!! I predict at least 5 top 10 hits!! Every song is as good as the next. I love you David Cook!!!

I love singing in my car, and I always get raspy voice with this song, because it's near the end of the album and my voice is almost dead by then. Love it, love it! The hidden song scared the hell out of me the other day. I was playing the album crazy freakin' loud, of course, and then started thinking after this song ended, then I got a phone call, and I totally forgot to skip to the next song (which I had been doing b/c I thought something was wrong with my download). Then, all of a sudden, KOTN started blasting at me outta nowhere! Holy hell! Scared the bejeezus outta me! Love it, though!

TO: elvisis cookified. Thanks for the tip on the 8 min gap between anthem and kiss on the neck. I'm going to try this.
This song is my fave today. Every day I have a new fave song. I have listened to no other music since the day this album came out. I can't get enough of David Cook!! You are my new fave American Idol!!!!

A DC FAN FOREVER

With songs like A Daily AntheM in DCTR, only goes to show how much creative freedom David has in the making of DCTR - a plethora of that, I would think. In fact, that is the very song that David wrote way back then, but yet to record due to Idol commitments.

Back to the song review - this is the one song that sounds good both on the player and 'LIVE". In fact, with the last few lines, it's good with the audiences singing along, should David ever perform this song in arenas.

And now for the review for the hidden track Kiss On The Neck. There are reasons to why certain songs are best kept as bonus tracks or hidden tracks. With that approximate 8 minutes of dead silence, it sounded like David's gone on a intermission break after performing a ballad, and returning to pump things up with a song that reflect as a contrast to ADAM, as in hardcore rock.

This track of 2 songs is akin to being there watching David Cook perform in a big-scale concert gig. Woosh!!

My favorite song on the CD. Excellent job David Cook!

WOW

I can't get enough of this album. Seriously. Especially Bar-ba-sol, Mr. Sensitive, Avalanche and Kiss on the Neck.(!) Hell, I love 'em all!

"i feel sick, i feel nervous, i know just what i did to deserve this"

The emotion in this song made me cry the first time I heard it! And Permanent makes me cry every time I listen to it- I absolutely adore this album- what a masterpiece!

Found from david-cook.org forum this tip and it worked!

Just a tip to everyone who don't want to wait 8 minutes for the song...

Add it to iTunes (from your CD or wherever) and then copy ADAM and add it again, therefore adding it twice. Edit ADAM by clicking get info>options and edit the stop time to about 4:18.

Then edit the ssecond ADAM by renaming it KOTN and then go to get info>options and edit the start time to about 12:00 / 12:10 / (whichever works for you, since I've tried different versions and for whatever reasons it registers start at different times o_O).

That way, you will have it as two songs without pause.

This is currenly my favorite song on the album. The words kill me each time.

I hear: Nothing can take the place of friends and we need to remind each other of this every day.

I noticed the track was 15 minutes long the other day on my way home from work when I get a call on my cell phone. I was listening to the song and turned down the volume as I spoke. When I hung up I realized the song came back on again, except it was a different song. I believe it's called "A Kiss on the Neck". Pretty cool.....I've grown to love every single song on this album.

The amazing thing is that he wrote this himself. The odd thing is on the CD the song is 15 min long and there is a whole other song in it. Has anyone else noticed that? Well anyway its the most awsome song ever!! I got my friend who hates rock to love this song!!!

Either I'm really stupid or I truly figured this out but whatever! I'm going to embarass myself (maybe.) and tell you guys anyway!

I recently found out on my way to school jammin' to A Daily AntheM on my iPod, I noticed that the captialized letters spelled something...did you notice?

A Daily AntheM = A-D-A-M = Adam = AC = DAVID'S OLDER BROTHER!!!

And so my hypothesis is that David captialized the letter M in the song title so that it spelled ADAM, since the song (which Cook wrote himself for his sophomore album, which was to be released before Idol) is written for Adam by David.

So anyway, that's just what I came up with using my sophomore brain. He probably already told the world but I thought I would sound really really smart and just tell you guys my findings :]

The lyrics to this song are absolutely incredible. I can't get over them. They're just so damn good <3

So this is so awesome! I can't wait to sing along in concert!!! I saw someone else had mentioned that this song had reminded them of a Beatles anthem (I think LOL). So now I have added words to the oh oh oh at the end. LOL! They are Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds oh oh oh and We all live in a Yellow Submarine Oh oh oh and lucy in the yellow submarine with diamonds oh oh oh and Lucy is dancing oh oh oh. Or something like that! Once again, Awesome anthem!!!

I thought for a moment I got the golden ticket when I discovered the hidden track "Kiss on the Neck" but I guess everyone got it on their CD! (Great song by the way.) Now I'm racking my brain trying to figure out how to extract the dead air time and create a new track for the song for my iPod. Give me graphics, not audio. Any suggestions?

I would definately sing your song at the top of my lungs....i would sing any of you songs....love this song...this would be a great concert song.....keep up the good work david ....love ya.....

This is my favorite song on the whole album. And COINCIDENTALLY it's the only song that David wrote by himself. Actually, on Dave's OLD myspace (it's been erased now so you won't find it) he posted the track names for his album that he was about to realease (this was after Analog Heart) but he tried out for American Idol and you know where he's at now. Smiling
SO to get to my point, A Daily AntheM was one of the songs on that unreleased CD. I personally find that very interesting. I hope that on the next album (I know it's a long way away.....) we'll hear more songs like this one. Smiling

I can see the crowd, arms up in the air swaying side to side together to this great anthem song. Not since Steve Perry's Na,Na's has a song come along that lends itself better to audience participation. When's that solo concert?????

I was sitting in my car this morning and A Daily AntheM came on my iPod, so I cranked it up. When the first chorus hit I was overcome with thoughts of what it will be like next year, at one of David's solo shows, standing arm in arm with my new found David Cook fan friends singing at the top of our lungs with David. Yeah, if this isn't a sign of a great anthem song, I don't know what is. Honestly, this one is becoming a favorite for me. It encompasses the reasons I have become such a huge David Cook fan, soaring anthemic vocals, poignant lyrics, new melodies...perfection. Counting down the days until this moment can happen live!

This song explains why David Cook won American Idol. Moreover, why he deserved to win. Hopefully on his next album, the record company will realize that he does not need any song-writing collaborators as the best song on this album is the one he wrote all by himself. David Cook - you are awesome.

Umm.. you guys do realize that the 7 minutes at the end of ADA if because of the hidden track Kiss on the Neck, starting at the 12:00 mark. It's not because of dead air just for the hell of it before the next song. The next song on the album is TOML. Take a listen before you start ranting about rudeness and disrespect. Apparently nobody here owns an album that contains hidden tracks.

EDIT: hnrysmm, this was not directed towards you. Smiling
