LYRICS

One, two, three

When I woke up, I could see the daylight had already passed me
It was such a fight to fade away asleep
It's a fugue I'm on found to chase down the dawn
Well, I fell every night as it turns into light with my eyes just shut tight

Sailing all alone, I thought I made it home but I threw it all away

Oh, where I've been sold and spun again?
All before me like a dream, falling in between
I feel sick, I feel nervous, I know just what I did to deserve this
Oh, I know it's not a dream

Keeping quiet, laying low, holding on to what I don't wanna know
'Til the daylight turns to ash and blows away
Missing keys, bloody nose, consequences of what I chose
Keep running into me, don't want my memory
It all comes so deafening

Sailing all alone, I thought I made it home but I threw it all away

Oh, where I've been sold and spun again?
All before me like a dream, falling in between
I feel sick, I feel nervous, I know just what I did to deserve this
Oh, I know it's not a dream

Oh, where I've been sold and spun a?

Oh, where I've been sold and spun again?
All before me like a dream, falling in between
I feel sick, I feel nervous, I know just what I did to deserve this
Oh, I know it's not a dream

Oh, where I've been sold and spun again?
All before me like a dream, falling in between
I feel sick, I feel nervous, I know just what I did to deserve this
Oh, I know it's not a dream

Reviews for this Track

Right from the get-go this was my favorite for so many reasons. I am positively amazed that his debut album is as good as it is. He's really got it!

Interesting topic. When I first heard "I feel sick; I feel nervous; I know just what I did to deserve this" I was immediately reminded of cocaine days gone past. It wasn't until the bloody nose part, though, that I felt I I understood this song. "Threw it all away " continued to support my relationship to this song, and my theory.

I think Bar-ba-Sol is about the high life: being in the bar, adding whatever it takes to stay the night, and when morning comes (Sun= Sol [in Spanish]), when you wish you were wishing you can sleep, but can't, you're all alone - the party is over, and you lay there wondering why you did it all again. This is the part where you become seperated from your soul (Egyptian Ba).

I really like lyrics that make me search to understand. I think that DC's love and command of words is what seperates him from many other song writers. Just hope he never sells out.

I just got this song as my ringtone I love it!

More Album DAVID...

Can't get enough!

Can't wait to hear this song LIVE on 3/14/09! Definitely my favorite on the album!

I just love this song so much.

-From David's biggest fan ever

I listened to the original version by INJECTED on YouTube and noted some lyric differences from what is printed on this site. (The original song is called SPUN AGAIN.)

I never thought the title "Bar-ba-sol" had a darn thing to do with shaving cream and I think it has to do with substance abuse. Possibly, alcohol in particular.

After breaking down the title, here is what I came up with:

Bar = is just that, a Bar
Ba = (From Egyptian mythology) A being's soul that leaves the body after death but returns to the body if the body is preserved. (Anyone who has had a hang over might relate to this!)
Sol = (Loosely defined, mind you.) A solid substance suspended in a liquid.

That is just my take on the title.

Im happy to say, I havent found a single cover song that David did, that wasnt better than the original. He just has it! Barbasol is my fave!

What a great hard-driving tune, David! Excellent job and I hope to hear more like it on your next album. Thanks!

This is my daughter's favorite track. It was also my fav live in Columbus Dec 11th. Loved the show.

I was one of the LUCKY people who got to hear DAVID perform live in Columnbus on Dec 11. David, you and the band were totally AWESOME!. This was my favorite Christmas present. Bar-ba-sol was the hottest song you did. It really rocked the place. Thanks for coming to Columbus and giving us such a treat. I was just so disappointed that I didn't have a chance to meet you! Hopefully next time you come to Ohio!

Can't wait to see you perform it live!!!

This is only the beginning. Love the song, Love the CD, can't wait to see you in concert. I have been watching the reruns, you've come along way. Loved you from the very beginning. Lie and Come Back to Me are really great songs too.

I know exactly what you did to deserve this. You were yourself and became America's favorite Idol! At least mine anyway! This song keeps me and all my friends rockin. We get in my car and it's the first song they all want to listen to! Great lyrics great tune great fun! Well done Mr. Cook!

I don't know what it has to do with the song (which just so happens to be my favorite. =] IT ROCKS!!! Literally... lol), but Barbasol is a brand of shaving cream. Kind of an old brand, actually.

Anyway, just thought I'd input that little tidbit of info. =]

I LOVE THIS SONG- I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S THE BEST SONG ON THE ALBUM, BECAUSE I CAN'T GET PAST LISTENING TO THIS ONE, I HAVEN'T HEARD ALL THE SONGS YET. L O L BUT, THIS IS my FAVORITE SONG. I LIKE THE BEAT...IT'S DIFFERENT.. THE WORDS ARE INTERESTING DEPENDING ON HOW YOU INTERPRET THEM. I TEND TO AGREE WITH PSYCO_HOUSEWIFE...I'M 48 YEARS OLD, I HAVE BEEN THERE AND DONE THAT, OVER AND OVER AGAIN. ANYWAY, AWESOME SONG , AWESOME MAN , SO MUCH MORE.......

Fans of Bar-Ba-Sol, try to skip this review of mine as it may not sit well with you.

Though I like listening to this song, it's only recommended you listen to it if you're feeling high. For one sure thing, it's definitely hardcore rock at its best. It's also for those who wish to let their hair down.

I, for one, do not see it as a follow-up single. It's only best kept as the gem of DCTR and not be released as a radio single.

This song is great! I have two boys that are 4 and 3 and they always ask me to turn this song up when I have the CD on in the car! My 4 year old sings along with "I feel sick, I feel nervous, I know just what I did to deserve this." The first time he did this it brought tears to my eyes! David does an awesome job with this song. You should watch his live performances of this song on youtube, you can tell he really enjoys this song.

This song gets me going good. If it doesn't do the same for you...check your pulse!

"Rub some dirt on it, walk it off."

This song rocks! It has a sense of quirk. It picks you up and takes you with it for the journey.

Ayelet.
(that's hebrew for Doe)

OK , This song is becoming addictive but what I really want to know is what does the song title mean? Every song has such meaning to him and I would like to know. The first time I heard it I kept listening for the title to pop up in the song but it never did.. Sooo??? Does anyone know the story behind this song? Anyway I love the whole CD.. Lie is my favorie and love Life on the Moon.. My husband thinks I am obsessed, but I so catch him singing this song... He secretly loves it!! Me, there is no secret.... I LOVE DAVID COOK!!!!!!!!

I just went to youtube to hear the original version
David's is WAAAAAAAAY better!!

i love to rock out to this song. even my 2 year old son loves to dance to it. david i just want to say that you are awesome and you rock! keep up the good work!

This is a bit odd, but the first time I heard this song I found myself humming to it. It sounds like a song I've heard before, is this song a remake of an old one?

Doesn't matter if it is or not, just curious...this song is awesome!
